Not as good as the first film in my opinion, but its worth seeing for the sheer gross out factor. Im not saying its super gross, but if your not used to this kind of stuff, it might be to much for some. Filmed in b&w and this time they go for more of a gross out shock value vibe even more so than the first film. Its on the netflix instant if anyones brave enough. I liked it, but not a great film, I thought the first one was actually good. Ive heard there doing a 3rd film as well so we'll see.

The Disappearance of Alice Creed8/10

A 3 person cast with a lot of twist and turns. It's about a rich girl getting kidnap and held for ransom.

Thai Chi Master 2/10

The video quality is not even close to being 1080P. Vary grainy. Almost like it was taking from a VHS straight to Blu-Ray. Starring Jet Li and Michelle Yeo. For a martial arts movie, the choreography was good in the fight scenes but what gets me was the visable wire works. It's almost in every fight scene. That is probably the biggest knock I have with this. The story is basically about Jet Li, losing his mind after his friend betrays him. He finds his way and learns Thai Chi which ultimately he becomes a master of and uses it to defeat his old friend.

Martha Marcy May Marlene - 2/10

There is no fauking ending.

You invest almost 2 hours into a flick and then they just roll credits. Does she get on with her life? Does her boyfriend's cult kill her sister and husband? Ambiguous endings do not make your film all artsy and clever. What a POS film.

It gets 2 point for a couple shots of Elizabeth Olsen's glorious rack.

Batman & Robin. 1/10. Just embarrassing. Came on TNT last night. Hadn't seen it since I was a kid. Bad story. Bad script. Bad jokes. Bad set design. Generally bad costuming (with exceptions). Bad concept. Bad gadgets. Bad fight scenes. Bad casting.

Who watches Clueless and thinks, "there's my Batgirl!"? Alicia Silverstone was just terrible. Clooney was the wrong choice for Batman ... but I can't think of anyone that could've done well with that script.

Thurman and Schwarzennegger were OK casting, but fall into the same trap as Tommy Lee Jones's Two Face. Might've been OK with a better script and better concept of the character. Just overacted, awful lines, and no concept of the actual character.

I tried to look for something to like. Mr. Freeze's costume and character design were pretty good. There was a cool shot of him sitting in a jail cell ... before he started talking again. The Nightwing suit was alright ... minus the nipples.

*light spoilers* basically just stuff from the trailers

There were many problems right out of the gate. We're shown the Antartic in Winter except it's light out. It would always be dark.

Aside from the fact the movie is incredibly rushed, about 72 mins, the characters are no where near as likable or easy to get to know as the ones in Carpenter's. The only character that really stood out for me was Lars who spoke no english.

They showed way, way too much of the Things and reduced it to the creatures outright stalking around the facility like a Predator. I get The Thing hasn't learned as much about humans yet and that makes some sense but they show way too much of the Things and they are always covered in CGi.

The CGI is some of the worst I have seen in years, really bad. You can see they just layed it over the practical effects that look 100 times better in ADI's behind the scenes video. The only cgi used should have been for when the skin itself was actually splitting apart or melding togeather and for adding some blood.

There is no cgi blood at all, and this is a huge problem especially during the Grigs split. (Don't worry thats not a spoiler its the one we see in the heli in the trailer so it was already ruined.) During this split open of his face and chest cavity it looks totally 2d, no depth to the cavities and no blood so when we see the skin tearing, it also looks just like someone took a picture of the actor in Windows Paint and cut and pasted it to achieve the skin ripping, like South Park. Like the old Colorforms toys. The sound is pretty bad and the monster yells always sound forced and no where near as unnatural and frightening as in Carpenters. When Grigs changed I would have laughed if I wasn't so heartbroken.

The ending change is so clear and evidant that it's painful to watch and you question wtf they are thinking covering up the original monster with that tetris computer effect and showing off this totally cgi'd terrible looking thing straight outta the movie Slither. Btw thats according the CGI company who just did an interview at Outpost 31 the 1st of this month, the only thing that changed after test audiences, they covered the original pilot for the new person thing.

They got some stuff incredibly right like the use of the music in certain scenes, the way some of the monsters end up that we know from Carpenter's revist to this outpost. The lack of Norwegian spoken is totally unbelivable and gets very bothersome, especially because without a shadow of a doubt, the best, most intense, well executed, suspensful scene comes from a language barrier between nervous characters in the tight hallway. Nothing else in the movie comes remotely close to this to the point you would think it was done by a totally differant director.

Also when it retreads ground with things like the idea for the bloodtest, its way too shot per shot from Carpenters, espcecially stupid because the fillings test is enough and original enough to work on it's own.

CGI without a doubt completely killed however, what would have otherwise probably been a 7/10 all things considered. But without a single believable monster effect the entire movie cannot be taken seriously.

This movie needs a practical effects version with as little cgi as possible which needs to be completely redone over the work print if it still exists, needs to completely remove certain scenes, slow the movie down somehow, and change the ending back to the original. The only chance this movie has of ever being ok is about 40 years from now in 2050 when they do a 3d holographic transfer.

MI: Ghost Protocol 8/10

Great action movie, not a bad MI film. I still think the first is the best in keeping with the original theme of the series. But 3 out of 4 MI films is pretty good. I really really disliked the 2nd film. But the 3rd made up for it in a big way.

This one definitely topped in terms of scale and stunts but what bugs me the most is that this guy is some theorist and he can handle himself in a fight and goes on espionage missions on his own? It's like something more along the lines of an old Bond film. Even Philip Seymour Hoffman's character in MI3 wasn't as combat ready as Hendrix. And man for a big guy, he can huff it! The 2nd hired assassin in the film who never speaks is really of no use since Hendrix pretends to be him in the middle of the film and then ends up getting shot in the final act. But overall I look at it like the Incredibles film. Incredible set pieces and great acting filming and a fun story.

I just gone done watching the sitter unrated version and was pretty good .The movie is the usual teen age raunchyness but still had some totyaly WTF moments but would say if liked superbad then this one's for ya I give it a 7 out of 10 pretty funny and crazy and not too long... One other movie would recomend is DISTRICT 13 its all in french but trust me its 10 with action and story moves very fn fast and some of best action film ever watched ..I dont watch foreign films but this one ROCKS ...

The Raid: Redemption 9/10

Got to see this one again on it's full release. Fantastic action flick that you would come to expect from the Indonesians. The concept is so simple it's like a videogame. Swat team of cops go in to a tenement building governed by a crime kingpin and they have to work their way up to capture him, with of course casualties on both sides along the way. The mix of fighting and gun play is fantastic as are the action cinematography. You rarely get that shifty shaky cam that everyone thinks is necessary (Bourne Supremacy etc) and they are coordinated extremely well.

I recommend you see this with an audience. You will hear, clapping, "Oh ____!"s, and cheering throughout. And it adds to it. It's not distracting. I normally keep quiet during movies but I was constantly vocalizing my shock and amazement.

Worth buying regardless.

Very predictable outcome, bland acting by Sam Worthington.. Action and 3D effects were good.

The big disappointment for me was that Cronus looked like an mindless monster despite the fact he is the father of the Big Three.. He was supposed to have a sickle/scythe and look like an actual god, not a monster. Would've looked more bad-ass that way, as he's bigger & can talk trash to his sons.

The consolation prize for me was seeing my college crush again - Rosamund Pike! :) Older, but still looking very hot! :D

War Horse: 7/10

It was okay. I liked it better than TinTin. I didn't love it though. I thought the first 2/3 of the movie dragged on way too much and was overly saccharine. John Williams's score just bludgeoned you over the head with sappy emotion. But once you got to the trenches it got much better. The scene of Joey running through the trenches and no man's land was superb. And I loved the cooperation of the Germans and Brits. Then it got a little too sweet again towards the end. I'm not opposed to heartfelt emotions. Heck, I was hoping for a real cathartic emotional swell with this movie. But it felt way too pushy and intrusive and overly simplistic. The emotional punch would be much more effective if the "sweetness" was used more sparingly and saved for one big build-up, instead of overwhelming you with it throughout.

Some more thoughts of the Hunger Games, that me and my buddies agreed upon:

By buddy Petar's thoughts and I wholeheartedly agree!

I don't buy for a second that these parents are just letting these grubby prince wannabe _______s come and scoop up their children via bingo numbers, to go get slaughtered in the woods. And then you're going to try to tell me that this has been going down for 73 years? 73 years is a LONG TIME to just sit and stagnate in poverty while the government kills your kids for tv ratings.

And another great point...

In the movie maybe ONE character actually acts like people. everyone else are this weird ____ing being that bear no relations to how humans actually behave. kids who are just forcefully taken from their homes aren't gonna just be Rambo-ing. The next second killing others left and right and all that bull____. They would cower from the chaos and rock back and forth- even ____ing First Blood is about that. ____ing Rambo breaks down at the end as he recounts all the people he killed and he saw killed. This movie has problems from ____ing first frame to the credits.

People like garbage. It's unfathomable what passes as great entertainment these days. Recycled story telling, and piss-poor at that!

Alien - 7/10

What a treat I had last night. Just got a high def TV and Direct TV to go with it. Never saw the extended version of Alien. And just as soon as the kids went to bed last night that movie popped up.

Seeing how many details I missed when I saw the movie in low-def was very cool. But then the added footage was an awesome plus. Seeing the Alien swinging on the chains just before it killed Brett was cool as was seeing the part where Ripley found and killed Dallas at the end.

I would not have been offended if they had gone in and changed the graphics for the destruction of the Nostromo. But no big deal.

Edit - I have to say...that movie benefitted more from going high-def than any other movie I have seen in both low and high def. And it was great before.

THE LAST GAME - 9 /10

The BEST low budget sports film (documentary) ever made.

The film is about the Central Bucks West Football program and their historic undefeated run to capture their 3rd consecutive AAAA PA State Title...4th in 10 years! I know the majority of the players as i went to HS in Central Bucks when this film was being filmed. Brings back a TON of memories, and gives an amazing look at this AAAA PA football juggernaut. If you like Friday Night lights, football and sports movies you must check this film out.

Funny you should say that, I just upgraded my Alien from DVD to Blu and watched the extended for the first time a few nights ago. Very cool. All of the new stuff is character based and not just stupid CGI crap. Ridley Scott > George Lucas.

Since you upgraded your TV to HD, another fantastic example of Director's cut with a light touch is Scott's own Bladerunner. The 5-disk bluray is essential stuff for any serious Blu collection. The Tyrell pyramid is jaw dropping in HD. It was like seeing the movie again for the first time. The 5 disk also has the "Denver/Dallas cut" and a disk with a sh-t ton of great extras.

Bladerunner Blu 5 disk is usually dirt cheap on Amazon: (yep. 28 bucks right now - http://www.amazon.com/Five-Disc-Complete-Collectors-Edition-Blu-ray/dp/B000UBMWG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334607033&sr=8-1 )

I also highly recommend Akira on Blu. Turn the sound up, best sound mix I've heard by far.

The new Star Trek looks pretty amazing too.

Gotta see Cabin in the Woods asap.

Did see the original Footloose again 7/10. Not a great movie by any stretch, but we watched it with my 11 year old daughter, because she'd watched the new one with us a couple weeks ago. Man, the original kills the remake not because of anything huge - it's the little things just done better. Bacon and Lithgow are just better actors, bringing more to the rather two dimensional characters than you'd expect. And the overall concept of censorship and control are just handled better - scenes like the book burning and discussion of Slaughterhouse 5, both left out of the new movie, add so much more to the concept.

And The Three Stooges 7/10. Hey, it's the stooges, and they actually do a great job capturing the personalities of the originals. They had the mannerisms down, and the physical humor was spot on. They also allowed the stooges to be sweet - I was glad - and the bit with the Jersey Shore idiots was more of a prop or bit, where they are really an example of our current 'stooges'. Funny thing is, I don't think they get that.

Really hilarious! I think both Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds are great. But I think Reynolds should stick with comedies, and this particular type of comedy. He was on fire! I remember him on Two Guys, A Girl and A Pizza Place, and thought he was great then too. Unfortunately he hasn't really had the opportunity to be as funny in the movies he's been picking. But he was great in this one, and in Just Friends--both perfect for him. Some of the jokes and bits were way over the top and disgusting, but for the most part it was right on.

Lucky Number Slevin. 9/10. Came on one of the movie channels last night. Extremely underrated movie ... about a Kansas City Shuffle. One of my favorite mob movies out there.

Clever plot. Compelling characters. Good acting across the board. Ingenious dialogue -- the dialogue is almost to the level of Tarantino or Elmore Leonard. Lighthearted in all the right places, but solid enough to take seriously. Just a smart, fun mob movie.

Alien Vs Predator: Requiem - 3/10

It's like three films smushed together...

1. Woman comes home from the army and tries to rconnect with her daughter

2. Teen romance drama

3. Predator hunts Aliens

What the hell were they smoking when they came up with that, the Wolf Predator is awesome, but you can hardly see what he's doing most of the time and then it flips over to those other stories and you have to sit there bored out of your mind til the Predator/Alien parts start again, and even then things are so dark you can't tell which is which.
