Columbiana 9/10

Very entertaining movie. Zoe kicks some serious butt in the movie. The bathroom fighting scene at the end was very welldone.

Blitz 6/10

If you seen any Jason Stratham movie, they are all very similar in choreography / fight scene. Nothing to rave about.

Immortals 9/10

The scene when the gods fought the Titans, that was absolutely the best part of the movie. The style of the movie is pretty much like 300. But even then, it was very enjoyable to watch.

I have really enjoyed everything Snyder has done.

I'm a big fan of Dawn of the Dead (Remake), 300 and The Watchmen. And I even thought that animated owl flick was decent. But Sucker Punch.. sweet lord. Trash.

The Thing (2011): 5/10

If this was a stand alone movie it would have been decent, but being a prequel to one of the most badass scifi/horror flicks of all time makes it pale in comparison. The end portion with the credits was easily the best part of the whole thing :lol

Hunger Games: 6/10

Pretty standard movie... might have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read the books. But as it was I didn't feel bored while watching it, but nothing really grabbed me about it either. Personally I'd recommend waiting for a rental.

He tried to take a dumb action movie, and give it depth, and make it thought provoking.

Resident Evil: Afterlife: 7.5/10 I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The previous ones were atrocities in my opinion but this one felt closer to the source material and was rather entertaining. However the Wesker portrayal, and fight was just....ugh, they replicated a lot of moments that worked pretty well but just absolutely killed it in the end.

Been hung over most of the day, so I watched some movies today on HBO.

A-Team - fun, full-on action. Way over-the-top, but its meant to be ridiculous. Really liked Rampage Jackson in it. Fun flick.

Sucker Punch - Holy crap this movie is lame. The only positive is that I found all the chicks pretty hot. But even the action scenes were such a let down. The samurai fights looked so epic in the commercials and they ended up feeling so slapped together with no sense of effort. I would have been pissed had I spent money on this one.

Splice - What the **** did I just watch? Didn't hate the movie....but it was bizarre. There were decent elements to it, but it felt like a cheap film (it seemed like there was only like 6 characters in the whole movie) and the rape/sex scenes were a little disturbing.

You can pick up the 4 disc DVD set pretty cheap on Amazon. It has the director's cut and Dario Argento's international version. There's also a ton of extras. I'm hoping it comes to Blu-ray soon or later.

It's been awhile since I've seen it, but he actually cut some scenes to speed up the pace of the movie a bit. And, of course, he used Goblin to do the soundtrack. Romero used different music for his versions.

I can read overrated. But I can't comprehend 4/10. :lol

I think the reason why it's "overrated" is that, movies today aren't quite as solid. I hate to even think like a movie douche, who only complains how "films today are bad!" because as a movie fan, I find that offensive. Every year has good movies, and bad movies.

While i'll admit, there has been a drop...but it's never hit rock bottom.

But I think if more flicks could just be "solid" instead of dumb fun, or entertaining, we'll be good to go.

That doesn't mean I want to kill off dumb fun, and entertaining flicks. I love those shlocky things. :yess:

Plus you also need to consider most movies today are up against "been there done that" movies. It's gonna be damn hard to make a better "Godfather" but it doesn't mean the film would be bad either.

We Bought a Zoo 6/10

Smaltzy flick but still a feel good flick and while predictable the acting was good and it was an interesting "based on a true story" story.

The Sitter 5/10

Another Gordon Green flick that I'd say was better than Your Highness but overall forgettable. Also pretty crazy how fast Hill slimmed down from then to 21 Jump Street.

Clash of the Titans (2010) 6/10

Enjoyable for it's animation and monsters. And I'd say better pacing than Immortals.

Oh yeah went to see

Hunger Games 5/10

I'm not a purist for this series as much as I am for comic book films but I felt like they got the core of Katniss' character wrong from the book. Regardless of whether you read the book or not, just knowing that there's a trilogy you know that she's going to win so there's no real tension in the film as to ask yourself, "is she going to make it?" You're really just along for the ride. Also TOO MUCH SHAKY CAM. I wanted to see the deaths! I know it's supposed to give off the sense of frenzy but come on. Just give us something to feed our bloodlust. Battle Royale had hilarious deaths but at least they showed them!

TinTin 6.5/10

Eh. I thought it skewed a little too much towards the childish side. And this is my first full length motion capture animated movie, so I hadn't really experience it before. I'm not quite convinced it works. The whole movie felt like it was wavering between being a full-on cartoon and a regular live action movie. Some of the movements in particular bothered me because they were such broad, slapstick type of action, but still fully human and grounded in reality, which looked terribly dumb and silly and maybe a little bit restricted to the laws of physics. If it had been full on animation, the movements would have been more fluid, probably more exaggerated, and ironically enough, more realistic and natural. Certain "bits" felt very staged and choreographed and contrived in their movements. I really think the motion capture is holding things back. And it was a little creepy to see some of the caricaturized faces on characters that moved so human like. It was like the Warren Beatty ____ Tracy movie with the prosthetic faces. I think Pixar has done a much better job in rendering real people like in the Incredibles and Ratatouille.

But overall it was okay I guess. It didn't totally grab me, story-wise or character-wise, but I can see it was well done. I think my expectations were raised a bit when I read many people saying that this is what the last Indy movie should have been like. But nah.

I did like the opening credits done in that flat animation style. I wish someone would have the guts to release another old-fashioned animation feature where everything was rendered flat and graphic, not 3 dimensionally. It can probably still be computer generated, but just done in a flat style.

I need to watch that film again to appreciate it more. I watched it so long ago I can hardly remember it or the performances.

All I remember from that is Slater saying he would f__k the king :lol

Seriously though, better than Stansfield?

Nope. His role as Stansfield was much better but also hard to compare. He was just another person entirely as Drexl.

Battle Royale 1: Directors cut 8.5/10
Haven't seen this movies in years and it's a little dated and somewhat cheesy. What has it going is that almost every character that was in it had a story behind it. Anybody that haven't seen this should at least see it.

Battle Royale II: Requiem 1/10
After watching the first movie, my expectation where high....and disappointed I was. This movie jump all over the place and almost every character had no story behind it so it lacked any character development. The middle part of the movie was just plain awful and really hard to watch. Extremely boring to a point that I'd fell a sleep watching it. Stay away from this mess.

Drive 9/10 Can't explain why this movie is so good, just can't stop thinking about it since I saw it and how perfect it was. My buddy brought it over, I bought it the next day and have watched it around 5 times since. It's almost hypnotic.

21 Jump Street 7/10 It was so much more enjoyable than I thought. It made fun of itself, had characters that despite themselves I actually grew to care about
, and I laughed my ass off! Good movie.

A Good Ol Fashion Orgy 6/10

As usual you have a group of super hot women who are best friends with a bunch of run of the mill guys, but that shouldn't stop us from believing it. It was pretty funny, and Jason Sudeikis and Tyler Labine really make the film what it is. I'm a huge Tyler Labine fan and would love to see him in more. Loved him in Reaper as well as that failed Fox show that I can't even remember.

Take Shelter 9/10

Finally got around to seeing this as it was sitting on my desk. Amazing film. I wish the pace could have been tightened up in a few spots to cut some time but over all it had a really good flow that really built up the tension and the ending was even better. Really really good film.

Speaking of Tyler Labine...

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil 8/10

Hilarious horror parody film about two buddies who are mistaken for typical podunk murderers by a bunch of kids who kill themselves in the act of trying to attack the duo. Alan Tudyk is great as always and of course Labine who gets the girl in the end, and even the ending is pretty good for a film you figured was gonna go nowhere.

Transformers Prime Season 1: 10/10

Okay this isn't really a movie but all the episodes felt like it & they were continuous one after another. I watched all 10 hours in 2 days. This has to be the best transformers cartoon or animated ever made. I don't know why you can only view it on Hub because we can't get it here in Canada. I'm glad they brought it here to DVD.

If you watch Transformers 3 this felt like it took place right after it. The choreography and voice acting was very well done. If your a huge fan of Transformers, this is a must buy. It delves into the history of Optimus & Megatron and what's to be followed next. A very surprise ending leading to season 2. I can't wait to see season 2 even if it's going to be a year long wait for it.

Grandpa Joe pisses me off, though. He's the real villain of the story. What a useless sack of crap. He got up and danced around after 20-years of laying around because the kid won a contest? Should've danced his ass to work for 20-years.

Not only that, but, after the kid invited him to Wonka's Factory ... he nearly destroyed the whole thing with his "fizzy lifting" fetish. Charlie is the only kid that got busted for something that was his caretaker's doing.

Charlie would've been better off going alone.

Aeon Flux (film) 2/10

You know how bad a movie is when all people can say about it was "how great it looks in HD" or "a prime example of HD". I held off on watching this movie because having been a huge fan of the series felt it would never get it right. The critics echoed that thought but as always you have to judge for yourself and years later, yesterday, I finally watched it. This movie sucked. Jolie was the obvious choice to play Aeon but even so this movie was so boring and had very little to do with the show. The action wasn't even entertaining. I think I stopped watching 4 times before I could finally watch till the end.

Submarine 7/10

A little indie coming of age comedy from Richard Ayoade, for those who know from the IT Crowd, The Mighty Boosh, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace etc etc. A quirky film that compares to something Wes Anderson would make if he was British. The acting was good, especially from the main teenager.

Beginners 8/10

I got around to watching this movie again and I really liked this film. But I'm a sucker for indie drama flicks, this one was very light hearted and the acting from MacGregor, Laurent, and Plummer were spot on. It was a very unique film in how it was shot and narrated and how when describing something they would show images to give you a setting and an understanding. And it didn't hurt that it was shot on location in my hood.

The Three Musketeers: 7/10

It was fun. I personally like that look and style--kinda steampunk-y, retro-future. Yes, it was ridiculous and implausible, but it was entertaining and I liked how the characters were played. Even D'Artagnan wasn't annoying like the young, reckless kid usually is. And yes, I actually enjoyed it more than TinTin.

I have to laugh at the end which leaves it open to a sequel. Obviously the movie bombed, so it's embarrassing to see the movie be so presumptuous that it thought it would get a sequel made!

Machine Gun Preacher 6/10

What a crazy movie. All over the place. It really makes you hate the guy from the start, but what's jarring is the changes he goes through so suddenly. Like he's this out of the slammer con who jumps back into his old ways and after one bad run he's ready to turn to God? OKAAAAY. Still it was a very interesting story considering it's based off true events. It's pretty long at 2 hours and even show some footage of the man he's portraying. Too be honest I thought it would be worse than I rated it but it turned out to be entertaining for what it was and not boring.

Louis CK: Hilarious - 8.5/10

I have to say it was hilarious and I think Louis would allow me the use of the word for this description. Funny from start to finish. Reminds me why I love this guy so much. I'm constantly reminded of Bill Hicks who is one of my all time faves as well as Carlin and Louis is spot on. And to think he wrote, directed and edited the show just like his tv show. Multi-talented. 8.5 might seem too low but I know I've seen other comics do great shows and he's pretty high up there.

A Koreon made film about a serial killer getting hunted by the victims husband who happens to be a special forces officer. A fascintinated story about how the victim becomes the killer. Extremely graphic in nature so this movie is not for toddlers. A great cat and mouse movie. The ending has got to be one of the best scenes I have ever seen in any movie. There is also a taxi scene that is quite shocking.

Definitely wait. I caught it on tv last night on HDNet channel. They get films to show a few weeks before they hit theaters. It's pretty cool, so far I've seen 13 Assasins, Trollhunter, Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie, and The Hunter. I'm sure they show more but those are the ones I've happened upon and they typically only show it once.

The Hunter is good but it doesn't quite know what it wants to be. It's worth a watch though.

This movie seemed to have creeped out of nowhere when it was first released, but seeing as how I don't watch TV I would have probably missed all the spots for it during it's run.

Either way it was a pretty interesting concept for an "invasion" flick. I felt like in some parts they took themselves or the script too seriously, and some of the dialogue was atrocious, but what do you come to expect from simple sci-fi horror fare right? It was entertaining and like I said the concept of these aliens mining the planet for minerals isn't a new one but how they went about it and what they were made of was the interesting part. How they managed to attack them with the known science and how everyone quickly adapted to withstand their attacks was good too. Once you actually see the aliens though it felt like there were pokemon inside of them and I was like meh. I liked the idea of them just being balls or willow o wisps of electrical energy.
