Transformers 3 : 3D Version 6/10

Movie is not going to receive any kinds of awards anytime soon but it was basically what I expected it to be. Bunch of robots kicking the crap out of each other, while humans either get killed in the middle of battles or help out someway. I think some of the reviews on this film were a little harsh but what did you expect people?

I went to the movie to be entertained with battles and seeing ultimate destruction...that is exactly what I got so I am happy for the most part. Since I purchased a deal online for 2 movie tickets for $12, my wife and I basically got to see the 3D for that price...which would have normally cost us $24. I think the 3D would have been worth the extra cost because it was VERY well done...near on par with Avatar IMO. I am not a big fan of 3D movies but if it is well done, ill see an action movie in 3D anytime....its amazingly good eye candy.

Overall not a horrible flick but not great either by any means. I gave it a 6 because I felt the 3D alone gave it an extra point, otherwise I would have given it a 5 out of 10.

Insidious - 8/10

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised at how well done this was. Definetly well thought out and a different take on the whole haunting situation. It reminded me of Poltergeist with a little bit of Paranormal Activity. I thought from beginning to end it was overall pretty damn good. There was one part that I thought was a little weak, but I wont mention it at all, even with that weak moment it wasnt a deal breaker. The soundtrack was great as well, just ambient noises with a short song (piano)...but just a song not some top 40's garbage that most "horror" films throw in there to just totally ruin the atmosphere of the film. I havent bought a movie in a while, but I'll probably pick this up somewhere down the road to throw in my horror collection.

Sucker Punch: 4/10

Finally saw 'Sucker Punch', it was visually spectacular. It was hard to get into at times with the over the top "Trying to be so sexy for us geeks type slowmo shots" on all the chicks. It seemed like Zack felt like dudes have never seen hot chicks before and he was going to make sure we knew what one looked like.

HP and the Deathly Hallows Part 1: 8/10

Very nicely done. I'm impressed that they are really cranking up the dark mood of the last few books. And I must say that David Yates has proven himself to be an excellent director.

The first 2 movies were okay. Very kiddie, but fairly accurate to the books. The third one started to stray from the books and omitted important info that could have just taken a sentence or two to include. But Alfonso Cuaron did a magnificent job with the directing, and established a new look for the rest of the movies. I was very very meh with Goblet, although I thought they handled Cedric's incident great. The same with Phoenix--I was very annoyed at the changes/omissions from the book, and didn't like some of the directing choices.

But I thought Half Blood Prince was pretty great (except for how they handled Dumbledore's incident. Terrible.). And this one was just as good. I guess I got used to the changes, or I've forgotten enough of the books that I can watch the movies without much care for the details. Can't wait for the next one, although it seems from the trailers that they are expanding the final battle between Harry and V, which seems a little silly.

Sling Blade - 10 out of 10

There are movies out there that are 10s but not necessarily perfect in all regards. There are very few 10s that are pitch perfect and this is one of them. This one has never gotten old.

The Square - 7 out of 10

Script is a bit convenient but it's an above average noir film.

I Saw The Devil - 7.5 out of 10

Feels a little rushed in spots but it's beautifully shot and great cinematography.

It was not my favorite of the series, and some changes occurred between book and film that I would have not wanted. But overall I walked away very satisfied with the movie. And it was also nice that the 3D didn't totally suck. A few parts it was very cool, but most of the time the movie seemed to be pretty normal looking.

Catwoman 0/10. This might be the worst movie ever made, and is certainly the worst superhero flick ever. Halle Berry can act, but not here - proof how bad a film can be with a bad director and an awful script. The story was ridiculous, and the CGI looks like something out of a cheap syfy movie - and I'm talking one of the cheap ones here, not one they actually spent some money on.

Captain America - 9/10 I don't know if I thought it was better than Thor or just as good, but in no way was not as a good as Thor! I was pleasantly surprised to see Chris Evans REALLY delivered as Cap/Steve, I was surprised with the level of story it actually had, and of course the action was great

Rango: 9 / 10. This one snuck up on me. Knew Johnny Depp voiced Rango, but I didn't know this film was so eclectic and good. Animation was great as well.

The Dilemma: 7.5 / 10. Didn't know Ron Howard directed this film, and it doesn't seem like something he would do. Not one of his better films, but mildly entertaining.

Decent flick if a bit on the boring side... but quite creepy/messed-up at the end.

I actually mostly enjoyed this, but its just impossible to watch and not compare new Freddy to Englund who IS Freddy. Still pretty good for being remake.

Just boring, I was never a fan of this book and the movie did even less. I'm guessing this will be the last in the series.

Cowboys and Aliens 8/10. Nothing surprising, no twists, and I could have done without Olivia Wilde's character (not that she's a bad actress, I just thought the addition of her character hurt the story), but a very fun mashup of mostly 1 1950's western (they got that part right), and a 1950's bug movie (with the usual plot devices).

I was able to watch about 10 minutes of this before contemplating suicide by whatever would kill me the fastest. Thankfully, simply changing the channel sufficed. This film is like an advanced, futuristic sex change procedure that eliminates the need for surgery because I don't know how any straight guy could still have a functional weiner after watching this holy grail of boring, gab for hours, chick-flick.

I'd rather watch a non-stop marathon of just Predators and Uwe Boll movies than this piece of ____. I'd rather cut my own throat open with lead laced paint chips and watch my blood dry than sit through more than a couple minutes of this garbage ass movie.

"The Kids Are All Right" but my eyes, ears and brain aren't and still hurt after only 10 minutes of exposure to this cinematic gamma-radiation.

Captain America - 8/10 I really enjoyed the movie, Marvel put out 3 great films this year, Even though I liked the other two more, Cap was still awesome and I'm sure the Avengers movie will be great. Now I just need to get the Red Skull's car into my garage somehow.

I also am changing a prior rating. The farther I get away from it, the more awful Transformers becomes. I had it at a 3/10, but now I give it a 1/10.

Captain America - 8.5/10

Another great movie in the Marvel line-up. Now I really can't wait to see The Avengers.

Probably would have liked it better had the audience STFU and weren't texting throughout...

I haven't seen that movie for at least 20 years. Great flick, indeed, if I recall. May have to watch it again. One of Corey Haim's few good movies. Oh yeah, and Busey is also in that movie! :lol

Conan the Barbarian
8 out of 10.
:yess: I'd rate it higher yet for sure, but that's just me. Conan is my favorite character ever created, so I may be a bit biased. :)

Cowboys & Aliens -- 8/10. Like a cross between The Bourne Identity, 3:10 to Yuma, War of the Worlds. Good concept. Cool setting change for an alien movie. Well executed. Actually reminded me of the zombie apocalypse part of Red Dead Redemption.

Hobo with a Shotgun - 6/10

Typical low budget grindhouse type feel. Didnt live up to the hype that I had hoped for. Simple story great over the top blood and violence, but it just wasnt what I expected. Overall though wasnt horrible either, but you have to be able to tolerate low budget movies...cause its pretty crappy in the quality department.
