X-Men Origins: Wolverine -8/10

First time watching this.

I think this is a pretty fair score. I don't like x-men at all, and I didn't like any of the other movies. But I like wolverine, especially his look in this movie. I love it. I also don't care about what they did to deadpool. It makes more sense than the comic deadpool's origin.

Inception-7.5/10

Watched this movie a second time, and enjoyed it more. I had to have my friends explain to me everything, because I still didn't get it all, and there's still things I don't get.

But I like the movie, it's just way too overly complicated, it's a little ridiculous.

I know it's everyones own opinion and all but this post made me chuckle.

I thought the alien creatures were pretty cool. It wasnt as bad as I had heard. I mean it was a no brainer actiony type movie. Again though its typical alien invasion type film, but I still liked it. I think if the alien design wasnt so cool i would have liked it less. Now I will say the ending left a little to be desired. Its like when they finished it they just didnt know where to go and were just like... "ok thats enough, roll credits"

Fast Five

Well if you go into this movie expecting wonderful storytelling, 1, you have never seen these movies before and you will be deeply disappointed, or 2, you have seen these movies before and your pretty stupid. Facts are these movies are all about set-pieces with a very tiny amount of plot and character development, although the characters are still likable for some reason? Now it's really down to how good the set-pieces are to say whether this is good or not, and for the most part they are pretty exciting, with a few duff parts, that only made me look at my watch 1 or 2 times. Some scenes are so ridiculously far fetched they just made me laugh to be honest, and goodness knows how many innocent people may have got killed while the gang where on the run. The Rock's in this one and he's pretty good for what his meant for which is looking tough and sweating a lot. I enjoyed it on the whole, so if like the other ones, you will like this too

3 stars out of 5 (I just find it easier with the star system rather than out of 10)

Troy: 9/10 Great epic film! I really like the fact that most of the characters are flawed and have aspects in their personality that makes it hard to call them a definite good/badguy.
Plus it got some pretty awesome action scenes, both the epic fights as well as the smaller fight between Achilles and Hector for example! :rock :rock :rock

This is one of the most emotionally involving and suspenseful films I have ever scene. For those who don't know, it's a documentary that follows a platoon of U.S. soldiers in the Korengal Valley of Afghanistan. I only found out about it after seeing that the co-director of it was killed during a mortar attack in Libya. Anyway, if you haven't seen this film, go to Netflix or something and watch it.

yeah I seen this a while back as well and thought it was very good. Really sad at times to see what these guys were going thru, but at the same time very interesting to see them in the siht. Ive been telling people to watch this just because it is very intersting, but then hearing of the guy dying a few days ago in Libya was tragic. Apparently he and 2 other photographers were killed by an RPG. If people havent seen it, definetly worth the watch.

such a cute movie!! i'm in love with the night fury dragon Toothless!

I think the last movie i saw was The Kids are Alright.
Hated it. Plain and simple. I'd give it a 3/10. And that's being nice about it.

The performances by the adults, who have won acting awards for crying out loud... were not even mediocre. They down right sucked. The teen actors, Mia Wasikowska and Josh Hutcherson, did an excellent job. Probably the only times i could stand to watch it was their onscreen moments.

Sixth Sense had a good twist. Most people liked it.

Unbreakable had a so-so twist. Still, most people liked it.

Signs had a horrible twist. Most people still liked it though.

And then The Village came out, and it ALSO had a twist as well. That's when people started to realize M. Night Shamalamadingdong was a one trick pony. That's when his movies started to fall the ____ off. Because the novelty wore off and it became clear this dude has nothing else to offer other than a twist at the end of his films. He basically ran that plot device into the ground so deep eventually people in China found it and even they thought he sucked as well.

My only problem with The Village is...

why they speak in such an old fashioned manner. Since they were all from the modern world, they wouldn't have spoken that way naturally, and they had no one to trick by doing it because the younger ones had no knowledge of the outside world. It's a blatant cheat by the director to try and fool the audience.

How is it cheating?

This group of people were sick of the modern world and all the nastyness that went with it!

They created this ''camp'' set in a period where things were much simplier in life

And as for for the younger generation not knowing the year they live in, then it doesn't matter what period they based the camp on surely :dunno

Hence how is it cheating?

Seems logical to me if you're going to mimic a way of life from a specific time period you would mimic everything. Including speech/dialect. It was a simpler time and the way people spoke back then was also simpler.

A group of people from the modern world are suddenly going to start speaking to each other like 18th century puritans? For what purpose? Why wouldn't they speak in a normal manner? Who are they trying to fool? The audience.

Once you have the revelation of the twist, you realize (or at least I did) that it was just a gimmick the director used because he was afraid the audience would catch on too early, then the whole thing just feels like a cheap trick instead of a genuine twist.

Finally saw the King's Speech. 7/10. It wasn't the total snoozer crapfest that Winter's Bone was, but I'm not sure it's quite worth all the hype. I will say that (like Bone) there were some truly amazing performances. While Rush and Firth get a lot of the praise (and should), don't ignore the terrific work by Carter. Her understated portrayal of the pain she felt for her husband was really remarkable and quite realistic.

So overall worth watching, an inspirational movie, but I'm not convinced it was the best overall of last year.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1: Still some pacing issues, and I still think Alfonso Cuaron would have been a better choice to helm the final film, but it was decent. I haven't read the book since it first came out, so I forgot how dark it was, and the dark tone of the movie surprised me a little. 7.5 / 10.

Rio: Took my kids to see in the middle of the week last week since it was their spring break. It was nice to get a good seat in a theater without the crowds that are usually there during a film's opening weekend. Not the best animated movie I've seen recently, but not the worst. Better than Despicable Me and Hop (not totally animated still a kids' flick), but not as good as Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon; Tangled; or Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, IMO. 7 /10

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: Decent , but the least of all three Narnia movies. You can see the production values / budget has gone down with each movie; some scenes in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader looked like a BBC television series (and this isn't a knock against the BBC). 7 / 10.

The King's Speech: Fabulous performances by Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush.

I'm going to have to admit that like most Americans, I had no knowledge of the royal family and the history, so this movie served as a quick history lesson as well (yes, I am aware that as a moive, some liberties were taken).

So funny! Cracked up and was completely embarrassed for all the actors during the dance lessons scene... I'd score it higher, but I didn't find the acting of Odette Annable to be very good at all and the hatred I developed for her character added to the slightly lower score than I would have given.

Props to Kristin Bell and Betty White... hilariously awesome as always.

I plan to see it tonight. I am not going in looking for an oscar-worthy movie with this one. I am just hoping it will be fun...as long as it doesn't have a "Twilight" influence like Red Riding Hood did.

Black Swan... Oscar Nominee... REALLY!

Another Aronofsky Crapfest. Pretentious as always. Mirror shots... just hit me over the head. That will be the last of his films I will ever see. I said that after The Fountain but this movie got so much buzz I felt I had to see it. BIG MISTAKE!

2 of 10 only for the acting only.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Pt. 1
8/10

The Good: Lots of time invested in the characters. The three main characters all have their best scenes in this film.
The Not-so-good: Well, lots of time invested in the characters. It's not a movie about 'stuff happening'.

Not a self-contained story, if you haven't seen it yet I'd wait and watch it right before you go see Pt 2.

Indeed. When they tried to hide his face in the shadows, but his hair and everything else was still highlighted and you could even see through the shadows, I was like "okay they are making this way to obvious on purpose just so they can twist me up at the end." Wrong.

Maybe this idea needs a thread of its own. The best and worst sex scenes in mainstream movies (non porn).

My vote for best would be Gary/Lisa from Team America (The uncut version).

Anyway...I took my kids to see Rio last night. I found watching time pass on my watch to be more entertaining. But my kids loved the flick so it gets a 7/10.

A Few Good Men 9/10

Still my favourite courtroom drama

Nicholson is just fantastic as is Cruise

''Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to''.

I like Die Hard a lot. One of my favorite movies, and I can't think of ANY movie in its catagory that I like better. I still think that one of the best one-liners in the history of action films was the message JM wrote on the dead guy's shirt..."Now I have a machine gun. Ho Ho Ho".

That being said...there are a couple of very minor scenes in the movie that are so poorly acted that they drag me right out of being wrapped up in the story. Those scenes add nothing to the film so I would like to see a new edit with those scenes removed.

But I love the movie no less as it is.
