Black Dynamite: 6/10

Would have been higher if they cut the last 1/4 of the film or so out. They just went too far. But I like the concept of the film, and some of it was truly great. Jai White should be a huge action star.

300 actually had more substance then the comic book ever had. Dawn of the Dead had good characters, and Watchmen just worked.

I dont get the Zack Snyder hate. He rocks.

:lol I was a little disappointed with 300 but I liked it a lot more than this one. I actually cared about those characters. But yeah...I am always psyched to see his films - and visually I'm always impressed but I still leave the theater feeling indifferent.

Now Dawn of the Dead I liked a lot. I forgot he directed that.

Dawn of the Dead is fantastic. Zack's only as good as his script. If his script isnt good, the movie wont be.

Hence Sucker Punch... could've been better. Maybe the directors cut is.

Dawn remake was great. Only minor thing I disliked was

zombie baby. Although the resulting altercation is very well done.

But yea pretty much exactly what a modern day zombie movie should be. Romero's latest attempts don't even come close entertainment wise.

He's great, but in a different way. He's not the best at the substance...but he's not flat out horrible. Like I said, he added way more substance, and soul to 300, then Frank Miller ever though've. And the end is still pretty intense.

Sucker Punch is him doing all the work. Which....while I liked it, it didnt work as well as it could've. His films are only as good as his material.

Very low expectations, but it turned out to be a very fun and entertaining movie. I personally find Cera pretty boring, but he tends to be in kickass flicks.

Not as gripping as "I Saw The Devil" but still an enjoyable action flick.

I admit I love the cheesy SyFy movies of the week, so with this past weekends super spectacular dvr'd lets get to it!

Scream of the Banshee - SyFy's 200th original film. I figured with Lauren Holly, how bad could it really be, though she's approaching 50, she still looks good. First hour was actually decent, the last 30 minutes terrible and Lance Henriksen looked like he ate hot Krispy Kremes for a week straight before filming. 5/10, which is pretty good for Syfy.

Case 39 - Had Ian McShane, Renee Zellweger and Bradley Cooper, so how bad could it be. It couldn't have been much worse, I can see why the movie sat around for 3 years before being released. Only redemption of the whole movie were the Ian McShane scenes. 2/10.

Vampire Killers, or Lesbian Vampire Killers - Really piss poor vampire rip off of Shaun of the Dead, without any of the humor or acting. Suprisingly limited nudity for a R rated lesbian vampire movie, I'm thinking there must be a unrated version out there somewhere. My wife at the end asked was that really a gay werewolf? that was basically all she remembered about the film. 3/10.

Miami Vice looks like it was filmed with a camera you can buy in the clearence section of Best Buy. So ugly IMO.

Have to agree with you there! Especially the night scenes outside (like 80% of the film :lol) looked very grainy... I'm sure it is done to create somekind of realism, but it didn't really work IMO.

I liked Iron Man 2. There's a lot of people on this site who call it an epic fail. I think it's a 7/10. A likable mess. Knowing the Favreau was forced to do a ton of stuff he didn't want to it's impressive it still turned out as well as it did. Shane Black will hopefully have an easier time, he's already said Marvel isn't going to force him to crossover with anything else.

I re-watched Tangled last night with my girls. 9/10. A must own Bluray.

Imo the story is wonderful, its ugly but very real. I've loved this movie from the first time I saw it. The score reminds me of The Shining at times. There are only a handful of actors that can show so many different emotions and remain so unpredictable. DDL is easily one of the 5 best actors of all time.

Just got back from seeing this with Bam. Overall it wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be. Wasnt good, but wasnt great, but I felt like I was mildly entertained. Some of the action was just so over the top it should have been stopped at some points because I felt like... wow that was cool then they took it that one step farther and took me out of the moment. Again, brainless entertainment :)

The Karate Kid (fake one)- 4/10

Wasn't bad, would have rated it higher, but they're trying to pawn it off as a remake. He learns Kung Fu, they make that perfectly clear several times, so why call it the Karate Kid? And Mr. Miagi isn't Mr. Miagi, he's Mr. Hahn. And Danielson is Dre. And it's in China. Wasn't even close to a "remake", just another "kid gets bullied, learns to fight from unlikely teacher, teaches him something in return, and beats bullies",so just call it something else.

There Will Be Blood is great! 9/10 for me. I especially LOVE the soundtrack. Magnificent! DDL is mesmerizing, and the priest is so repulsive. All those performances are spot on, and the cinematography is beautiful. I guess I can see how people would say it's boring because there is so much exposition and how the story takes its time to unfold. But for me, the performances are so riveting, I can't help but be drawn in 100% and be caught up with the story.

I've never watched the original Japanese Anime but this live action film is really good. If I have to compare it to any hollywood sci-fi film, it would be the rebooted Star Trek movie.
Great space battles, Alien warfare and a heart wrenching story makes this 1 of the best film I've watched this year.

Just watched Space Battleship Yamato (Live Action Film) in the Cinema.

You guys have to watch this! Absolutely awesome sci-fi movie based on the Japanese Anime.

I've never watched the original Japanese Anime but this live action film is really good. If I have to compare it to any hollywood sci-fi film, it would be the rebooted Star Trek movie.
Great space battles, Alien warfare and a heart wrenching story makes this 1 of the best film I've watched this year.

Catch it in the theatre if you can, if not buy the DVD, you will not be disappointed.

8/10

Awesome. I'll look for that. Can't for that Gaiking movie too.

Could never get into Deadwood. And I like everyone in it (especially Ian McShane since seeing him in Sexy Beast). And it's not like I don't like Westerns.. so iunno.

I didn't like this film as much as Duncan Jone's first effort, Moon, but it hits most of the right buttons for me. Jake Gyllenhaal is particularly good in this.

Really hope it gets renewed for a second season...but it's looking more and more unlikely, which is a shame.

Oldboy 8.5/10

Certain things hold me back from scoring this even higher, I found the end to be ambiguous but not in a good sense!

Can somebody please explain to me one thing?

If Oh Dae-Su makes a deal with the same hypnotist who conditioned him during his imprisonment, asking for her help to allow him to forget the secret, surely he may then go on to have sex with his daughter again not knowing who she is, correct?

The hug at the end was ambiguous in that I could not work out from the facial expression of Oh Dae-Su whether or not the hypnosis had worked but that still does not explain to me if it did work how he would not then go on to have further incest with his daughter

Tron Legacy..Loved it! 8/10

could have been 9 if there was another light cycle battle and more of an explanation as to why Tron himself suddenly changed his mind during that free fall and started fighting for the Users....unless i totally missed that. need to watch it again.

Tron Legacy 8/10

I would have given this a 6.5 or 7, but the strong visuals and Olivia Wilde make this a very watchable film. They could make a movie of her batting her eyes at the camera for an hour and a half and I'd be there.

Paper thin story. They need to work on that for Tron 3.

The Blu really makes a good home system shine. I picked the DVD/BluRay combo pack yesterday for 12 dollars.

@Power1010 - There's no reason given. It's from left field.

Gangs of New York - 7.5/10

Cameron isn't bad but she just takes me out of the movie, its strange, I can't explain it. Would be like 8 or 9 for me if they had gone with a differant actress. Still a brilliant film though.
