Crazy Heart - 8/10

Good movie. Only problem I had with it was, ANY movie I see Jeff Bridges in where he has long hair and a goatee/gruffy beard I automatically think "The Dude". So there were a couple scenes that were supposed to be serious (like the one where Bad hits rock bottom) that I was laughing at because to me, it was just "The Dude". :lol

All-Star Superman [2011] - 9/10
- One of the best, if not the best, direct-to-DVD animated movies ever released by DC.
- The story is enthralling and this will become a modern animated classic!
- Like the other DC movies before this, the soundtrack and animation are unparalleled! You are catapulted into the Superman mythos, a real treat for escapists
- Superboob Christina Hendricks lending her voice for Lois Lane :naughty

Every time I see "Crash" mentioned I forget about that 2004 movie (which I have never seen) and I think people are talking about the 1996 movie with James Spader about Paraphilia and people with a sexual fetish for car accidents. :lol

If ever an actress needed to fire her agent it's Kristen Bell. She should be in bigger movies than the crap she keeps appearing in. She hasn't had a 'great' role yet, but she's cute and has screen presence. A can't believe she hasn't at least been in a real action movie.

I rewatched the Dollars trilogy over the last week or so. The best of the set is still Good, The Bad and The Ugly, but even there, some scenes are drug out to a ridiculous length that is almost laughable. Wallach was fantastic in that film, though.

I've never quite understood why they are called a trilogy either, since none of the characters are the same characters exactly, but I suppose it's an easy way to catagorize them.

OK - So I was extremely bored last night and decided to see a movie. The choice was pathetic unless you are taking your kids to a good kid movie. I settled on "Just go with it" I was kind of iffy with having to do that, but the guy who took my money for the ticket offered to give me the child's price so I took him up on it.

There were 4 other people in the auditorium watching that sreening at the same time I was.

I hope they were not bothered by my nearly continuous laughing throughout the movie.

I won't say that it is the best r/c I have ever seen...but it was a lot of fun. Baillee Madison and Griffin Gluck (the two kids) really added to the movie without stealing the show. Jennifer Anniston's part was done so well that what should have been an obvious conclusion to the movie was overlooked for most of the show. And at 42...Jennifer Aniston will put most 25-year-olds to shame in the sexy catagory. Adam Sandler was Adam Sandler. If you like his comedy, he was good. If you don't, he was bad. What's-her-name with the SI swimsuit credentials...Brooklyn Decker seems to actually be able to act...at least as well as is needed to do a r/c. And her jiggling all seemed to be natural...which made it even more sexy. Nicole Kidman was a nice little touch to the movie as well. Not a strong aspect of the movie...but a good supporting situation.

A strong 7/10

I almost saw it when I was 6. But I chose Alien Resurrection insted, because I was a bigger Alien fan. :lol

Saw Aliens when I was 4...loved it, and people are amazed I wasnt scared out of my wits...Guess I can enjoy aliens at any age...

Saw "The Exorcist" when I was 5...and it scared 300 different shades of crap out of me....To this day, 20 years later, I cant watch it, or even look at it...even pictures of it get to me...so i guess i can say thats a 10/10 for the brown pants factor for a 5 year old...

Saw Starship Troopers when i was 12 and loved it to bits (as you can obviously guess), then i watched the sequals as they came out and felt slightly let down by them...

Second one wasnt so bad...a good 6.7-7/10 as it retained alot of the feel of the original...

The Third...well, it barely rates a 3/10 in my mind, too much religion and the over-use of the Satire in un-imaginative ways...its hard to believe that it was written by Ed Numier, like the original, the sequal and the great Robocop...

Btw, Robocop is still a 9.5/10 for me :D...Almost perfect :D

On supportive side-notes, watch Kick-Ass last night, a decent 8/10, funny as hell and ever so slightly creepy in a "Nick Cage was made for this" kinda way. Re-watched Jaws, still a bright 9.5/10, as near a perfect film as you can get. Rewatched Jurassic Park as well, and again a 9-9.5/10 in my mind...

Re-watched Doom, 4.5/10, but still worth watching if only to watch Karl Urban and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson stage-fight :P

Also re-watched Deep Blue Sea, great little popcorn monster movie, 7.5/10. Still the most realistic Animatronic sharks ever made, had the great oppertunity to visit Walt Conti's workshop back in 2008, and up close i was still slightly worried they'd try to bite me!

And to round up my viewing for the week (well, i have alot of time on my hands while i work on something new) I re-watched the genre classic Total Recall (before Colin Farrel remake hits and ruins yet another aspect of my childhood!). As i said, its a Genre Classic...which genre? Take your pick, Comedy, Action, Sci-Fi...I think it covers them all...and its a steady 9/10.

Is it me or do I have a thing for Paul Veerhoven movies?...Perhaps i should watch ShowGirls sometime.....

Once Upon A Time in the West is superior to TGTBATU, IMO. Replace Bronson with Eastwood and there would be no debate.

Henry Fonda plays, perhaps, the greatest most bad-ass bad guy of all time there.

I love Bronson in the role, but don't think it would have been hurt too badly with Clint instead playing that role. And if Clint were in, all the Eastwood fans who prefer TGTBATU because he's in it would consider giving Once Upon A Time a fair shake, IMO.

I really want to like it as much as I like the first one, I really do. But I just can't... The story is slow, action kinda lame... even the music isn't as epic as in the first one.
Conan is pretty much the same, but his friends, allies and enemies are al reduced to more or less caricatures IMO. The comic relief sidekick Malak, tough short-tempered warrior Zula, the princess Jehnna who just seems to want to know what men and women do in the bedroom, and even Akiro the wizard is just mostly there for some comic relief kinda stuff... It just seems so stereotypical... Even the opening words Akiro says sound like he was bored and reading it from a piece of paper...

I want to like it as much as the first one, but I can't. I probably won't watch this one anymore for a long time. Nothing beats the original, and this is not a worthy sequel IMO... :(

When I was a kid it seemed like TBS showed this movie every year on Easter. To this day, it is my Easter tradition to view this movie.

I also really love it.

Took another boredom trip to the theater a few days ago. I watched Hall Pass.

I was hoping for something "The Hangover"-esque (It was great to see that a "Hangover" sequel is due out soon). But "Pass" is good advice for this one. I had no idea this was supposed to be one for the girls. Had I known, I would have passed as well.

I have no doubt that the ladies will like this one a little more if for no other reason, than just for the jacuzzi scene where they will get to see a brother dangle his schlong in Owen Wilson's face for entirely too long.

I give this one a I'm-sorry-I-saw-this-movie/10

Scott Pilgrim- 7...... Not bad. But the hype had me expecting more.
127 Hours- 8.5 ... Good movie. But again the hype had me expecting a 10
Hot Tub Time Machine- 8 ...... Pleasantly surprised
Midnight Meat Train- 7 ...... went in expecting SciFi channel movie and got a really good SciFi channel movie. Will now be a regular halloween rotation selection.
Book of Blood- 5 ...... Meh .. not good .. not bad....

Midnight Meat Train? LOL All abroad the meat train.

Megamind - 8/10 liked this much more than Despicable Me. Plus the reporter had great animated hips. :) meat train

Iron Monkey - 7/10

- the story was mediocre, the action scenes we're alright. Maybe back in the day I would've liked it more. The funny bits were entertaining though.

True Grit: 9/10

Magnificent. Beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, great score. Brilliance.

:goodpost: :exactly: This truly is brilliance indeed! (Assuming you're talking about the Coen version, that is :D)

Severance: 7/10 Awesome horror-comedy! :lol :rock

Eastern Promises: 8/10 A really good film, but awfully brutal at times!

Harry Brown: 7.5/10 Good film, but it's really grim. Made me wonder when real life vigilantes will actually emerge. Since all the stuff in this film isn't farfetched IMO...

I just got finished watching a screening of Battle: LA.

Un-freakin'-believable! What a great movie. Action was great. Design of the alien tech was cool. CGI blended well. Even the acting was excellent.

7.5/10...and my scale is very, very conservative.

I haven't seen Faster. Looked OK. I can't figure that a movie starring The Rock could be better than Inception, though.

Law Abiding Citizen -- 8/10. Good revenge movie; up there with Taken and Man on Fire.

Batman: Under the Red Hood. I'd give it an 8/10, I liked it a lot, I just hated Nightwing's voice and would have preferred Kevin Conroy as Batman but that's okay. John DiMaggio's Joker was interesting.
