Fish Story 8/10 Quirky Japanese non-linear film about a punk rock band and their era-spanning, comet busting song.

Alien 3 blu ray 7/10 - I like this movie but don't love it. The making of was a great watch too.

Both had great restorations too imo.

The American 6.5/10

I appreciated how they stayed away from the MTV editing style for ADD moviegoers. But if you're going to tell a story at a measured pace you need to have more story. There's also far less action than the marketing would lead you to expect. This was a quiet character study, and as such George Clooney kept his character internalized for nearly the entire film.

Worth watching, but don't play it during a party unless you want people to start having side discussions..

The American

7/10 I liked the concept. It moved a bit slowly and there's no real compensation in the form of an involving character study because Clooney's character is really closed off. Still, I enjoyed this.

Dinner For Shmucks

4/10 I had fairly low expectations for this and still it ended up disappointing me, somehow. I hardly laughed until the actual dinner scene, and outside of that sequence I didn't care about any of the characters in this movie. Damn, this movie stinks.

Grindhouse/ Death Proof. 3/10. I usually like Tarantino, but blah. Stuntman Mike was a reasonably cool character ... until he became a whiny little b**** for the last 20 minutes. Even then, the movie was mostly just a few uninteresting chicks talking to each other about nothing important.

Grindhouse/ Planet Terror. 5/10. The conspicuous "grindhouse" stuff was annoying ("missing reel"). The movie was OK -- a couple of cool characters (Brolin, Willis), and a couple of cool gunfights -- with a bunch of unnecessary BS, and worthlessly disgusting visuals. Odd mixture of clever and obnoxious.

last movie for me was "tron : legacy". although, i grew up on the original tron like many others here on this board, sadly i was not impressed with the new remake. imo, the best part of the whole flick was the soundtrack (daft punk ftw), the plot was thin and the acting (cept bridges and sheen) was rudimentary. all in all i'll give it a 7/10.

Clash of the Titans - 6/10 Some bad dialogue for starters. Kraken was cool however.

Serious question, is Sam Worthington contractually obligated to leap from a great height onto a strange looking moving object?

Tron Legacy: 10/10

I already rated this previously, but I went to go see it again, this time with my parents rather than friends. I enjoyed even more than the first time! It was so intense this time around! This film is seriously great, it's a masterpiece, and it's now one of my favorite movies of all time! I'm a tron fan big time now.

As for my parents, I dragged them to it. I was telling them for weeks to go see it, but they kept seeing chick flicks and other uncomparable movies instead. I wanted to see the movie again, and my plans with friends didnt work out so I went with my parents. They both claimed they saw Tron a long time ago, but neither of them remembered much, and they didn't really care to see the movie. Long story short, when the movie was over they were really glad I took them to see it. Even my mom said it was good, but said it was a little too intense. pfft. My dad said it was great.

It was a good Sunday :D

And I don't care what anyone says about the CGI on Clu, it was great!

I'd rate it lower but there are films I hate far too much for this one to compete.

Weird is the best way to describe it... it had some funny bits but overal it kinda dragged and the main story... well it's just not there it seems... it's like a crazy roadtrip to nowhere. Terminator Salvation was just on cable. 7/10

I've seen it several times and always wonder why some people are so hostile towards it? It's better than T3. My biggest problem is it's not really a self contained story, it was written open ended to facilitate a new trilogy. Because of this it feels like a held back a few story threads to evolve in later film installments.

CelticPredator

Because the movie is a big pile of ____, and adds nothing to the Terminator Mythos...in fact, ruins it in a lot of ways. Every character was shallow, and stupid, every action scene was overly stylized to make up for the piss poor script, and acting, and character development.

Not to mention McDouchebag turned Christian Bale, a pretty good actor, into an actor on the level of Hayden Christiansan.

I think the fate thing made no sense in that movie either.
Why does he need to save Kyle Reese, when his father is Kyle Reese from an alternate timeline.

For me it ended with T2, anything else is an expensive fan film, same goes for anything after Aliens

Itīs not the usual "horror" take on the genre, but itīs just so uniquely filmed and acted. The movie stayed with me for quite some time.

The Road. I don't think I've ever been so depressed, so moved and yet so happy at the end of a film. The lengths that somebody would go to protect thier son is what is so heartwarming about this film. I cried like a girl at the end and I don't have a soul. 10/10.

Dumb but fun. No surprises in a very predictable plot. The ending is a mess, but there some surprisingly decent action scenes. The re-casting is good, Neeson in particular. If they make a sequel they need to put more work into the story. They don't get to skate twice on goodwill.

Bullitt: 7/10

Pretty good, but didn't live up to the hype folks have built up around it, IMO. Good car chase, other action scenes were pretty lackluster, not much suspense, acting apart from McQueen was only serviceable, story was nothing special. McQueen is a certifiable legendary bad-ass actor, though, so any movie with him in it is worth watching.

Surprisingly good considering it was a movie about a chick gunslinger. I was expecting it to be like that pirate movie with Geena Davis (whatever it was called). Really good final installment; I was kind of lukewarm after seeing "Blue Harvest", but they've grown on me over time. A korean slasher film, this movie started out pretty strong and then towards the end went downhill fast. Turns out it was more triller than slasher towards the end. A few decent kills a creepy rabbit mask and a deformed boy what more do you need...well they thought they needed more.

But A-Team was fast and fun. 8/10 for sure. I think that Biel really sucked at her role. She was not up to that kind of a role.

Watched it as well. I went to art school and my wife is a professional artist, so this was very topical for me. I knew a bit about Banksy and Shepard Fairey, but the main guy "Mr. Brainwash" was some piece of work! Kinda frustrating if you are in the art field, seeing Mr. Brainwash become an instant artist.

Let the Right One In: 4/5
Loved the mood and pace of the movie. I have the American version on my queue, but I wonder if I should even bother.

Scott Pilgrim VS the World: 4/5
Fun! Although I'm not sure if Michael Cera was right for the role. And did he do all the fighting, or did they use stunt doubles and spliced his head in certain parts? Because it looked really convincing!

That's LA for you, and modern art in general is about celebrity.
I think the raw display of selling out is distasteful to most audience members, especially people who love art. But MBW gambled big and it payed. How is that really different from commercial art?

Thierry Guetta 1) turned out to be a reasonably decent mimic 2) had the balls to go full in. He re-financed his home and gambled his family's financial future to put that show together and it payed off.

Let the Right One In is in my instant queue.

True, when compared to other series. However, when compared to itself, Seasons 1 and 4 are ace in my book. Season 2 is a solid 9.5, and Season 3 is a 9 for me.

Thats why Fairey and Banksy were pissed about him doing what he did. He basically took all there know how and applied it using them as pawns in a sense to make himself seem bigger than he really was. I went to art school also and I love street art mostly graffiti, but I gotta say those guys did some awesome stuff.
I know Fairey has made the rounds in Tampa. Ive seen his OBEY stuff around here and a few billboards over the highway. I also really loved the simple idea of invader if I remember his name correctly. Just cool idea using the little pixelated "invader" as his logo/icon. Banksy...not much can be said about that dude, but just crazy ideas that go over well in most cases.

I agree though really as they say art is one of those things where it truly is all relative. The typical what looks good to me might not look good to you.

I think one of the things the movie shows it the appeal of street art is almost as much about the outrageous risks as it is about the subject matter. Exit Through the Gift Shop serves a large helping of 'Jackass' as it explains the evolution of street art. These guys are mischievous pranksters and occasionally outlaws. In that regard Thierry Guetta was the equal to Banksy and Fairey. MBW lacks the inspiration of his peers. But I think he makes them uncomfortable about the perceived value of their work vs. the new guy.

Banksy's work definitely has substance. There is real thought behind what he puts up and how they relate to the sites he chooses. Fairey has a strong sense of design and style. But Guetta just took the surface "concept" that he saw and just cranked out a bunch of stuff in the street art style. The fact that he sold so many of his work is more a testament about the audience who buys the art--they were probably all just following the trend of buying edgy street art, not because they recognized any kind of real talent or substance in Guetta's work.

Tron: Legacy: 9.5/10 I absolutely loved this film! After all the mediocre scores I was afraid that it might dissapoint but it totally didn't! It's just awesome, exciting fun and that's all it should be. The first Tron wasn't a masterpiece either, it was just good old fun in it's time and grew out to be somewhat of a cult classic. This new film is just the same! Good old fun!!
