Clooney rules!
very cliché story about a lawyer fighting a multi national against all odds BUT the acting and the way the story is brought did make it a very enjoyable film.
Tom Wilkinson rules 2

Rocknrolla
what else to say than
again Tom Wilkinson steals the show.

Finding Neverland
Marc Forester at his best genre, drama-deeper film.
About the writer of the fairy tale "Peter Pan" and the tragedies that surrounded the origin of that story.
Depp and Winslet prove why they are such class-actors. But it is the youngster Freddie Highmore (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) that steals the show, the way this young boy shows emotions was really :o

yeah totally agree abt tom wilkinson in rocknrolla. he was great. and watching him in other films like batman begins, you'd never figure he's british!

some of u were talking abt the mist earlier. hv u guys seen the black & white version on dvd? personally i think it actually improves the movie. creates a real "B-movie" feel and emphasizes the bleakness. and the cgi doesn't look as dodgy too.

the latest good film i watched was slumdog millionaire. yeah i'm a shameless romantic at heart! :o

Taken - Liam Neeson wups all kinds of a**. 4/5

The Wrestler - Good film and I'm not a wrestling fan. 4/5

Million Dollar Baby - Outstanding. 5/5

Sword of the Stranger - Animated samurai epic from the makers of Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist. This played in US theaters last Thurs. for one day only. I'd compre it to Lone Wolf and Cub, Samurai X and some of the samurai films of Akira Kurosawa. Good story, great soundtrack, fantastic animation, excessive gore and violence. 4.5/5

Gran Torino - the supporting cast frequently pulled me out of the great story and excellent acting of Clint. Still required viewing and surprisingly funny, with a whole range of emotions. A theme similar to the film Seven Pounds. 4/5

As you know almost all of the films on the scifi channel are pretty rotten (anyone see Bear Rage or Frankenfish). But this Sat. do not miss Splinter! It's a very good horror film and one of my faves from last year.

was a great movie who needs a plot for a movie like this, ad some good death scenes only downside was it looked a little to much like the texas chainsaw remake with that kind of glossed over dark look.

from what i've read on bloodydisgusting forums work on quarratine began while REC was still in production. two interpretations of the same script. just REC released overseas almost a year before quarrantine did.

This is the only time I heard that. I dont think its true.

They wouldnt release REC on DVD until Quaratine came out....what BS.

Quartine is a remake of REC. REC is an original screenplay written by Jaume Balagueró and Luis Berdejo. Quartine was adapted from REC by the Dowdle brothers.

Body of Lies 7/10 It was interesting....but far from great which is too bad since it has Crowe and Dicaprio in it with Ridley directing.

Gonzo (a documentary on Hunter S. Thompson) 8.5/10 Great documentary with a lot of home movies and audio recordings of Hunter from around the time he wrote Hell's Angels up through Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Some later footage as well with interviews with family and friends. If you are a fan of Thompson, it is worth checking out.

I enjoyed that movie quite a bit, particularly his single-mindedness regarding his care for his daughter, and his complete disinterest in everyone else, including the other exploited girls, etc. Hilarious. But, I can't understand how Neeson was allowed to fly back into the U.S. after it was all over. Not only because he was in such deep dookey with the French government, but because he killed some anonymous "Sheik," which presumably would cause a pretty serious international incident. I guess he might have manufactured a fake ID/passport, but you would think they would have been looking for him at the airports. . .

Terminator: A-

I hadn't actually watched this movie all the way through in years, and it was much better (less cheesy) than I remembered. It was also cool in that it builds up some interest in T4. I'm really curious to see how they deal with the lead-up to T1, and some of the stuff referenced by Reese.

Gonzo was directed by Alex Gibney, and yes he also did the Enron documentary. Like I said earlier, it really was a great piece on Thomspon - not a lot of information I didn't already know, but it was still great to see interviews with people who were close to him and how his life and death affected them.

Body of Lies for some reason annoyed me. I didn't feel for any of the characters and really could care less what happened to them. Well that's not true...I did KIND OF like the Hani character....but it just was a let down. I expect more from Crowe and Ridley and this just felt like something thrown together without much thought or effort.

Control (movie about Ian Curtis of Joy Division): C

Must have been made for the hard-core fans of this band, because for a casual New Order fan like myself, there wasn't much to keep it interesting. Curtis appeared to be a weak-willed, unlikable character, so I didn't feel much for him at the end. BUT, maybe that was the point, and maybe this was what he was really like? I liked his swinging arms dance, though.

Hadn't watched it in a long time, but it was worse than I remembered. The one bright spot is, of course, Jason. The coolest Jason of all, in my opinion, and he keeps it from being much worse. But the rest of the movie--the acting, the characters, the situations--just sucked all the way around. Did really enjoy the cool theme music, though. And Jason's taunting that poor girl at the end by pulling his mask up so she could see his face was pretty freakin' hilarious. Still probably the best Jason movie overall (the first one is a better movie in my opinion, but no Jason means it isn't as good).

It has the typical retarded main characters who go everywhere that they shouldn't, but that's what they do in zombie movies. Had a bit of a marathon yesterday (I didn't want to pack anymore :lol)

Burn After Reading 8.25/10 It was funny, well acted and had that crazy, wtf ending like many Coen Brother's movies have.

Quarantine 7.5/10 Not bad for a horror flick. Definitely had it's moments...though rather predictable.

Choke 8.25/10 Funny dark, dark comedy written by Chuck Palahniuk. Really well acted...very twisted with some good surprises.

In Bruges 8.5/10 Another twisted, funny movie. Great acting, beautiful location and fantastic dialogue.

Resident Evil Degeneration 5/10 Well I didn't have huge expectations on this....and I'm glad I didn't. Boring, predictable and for today's standards...pretty crappy animation. Looked like video game from several years ago. Ok for some RE filler, but on it's own it's pretty weak.

Resident Evil Degeneration 6/10 Well I didn't have huge expectations on this....and I'm glad I didn't. Boring, predictable and for today's standards...pretty crappy animation. Looked like video game from several years ago. Ok for some RE filler, but on it's own it's pretty weak.

If you liked this one watch "REC" which is the original and Spanish.I liked it alot better than Quarantine, better acting which made the whole thing more believable, the ending is much better too yet similar, kinda pissed how Quarantine ended.

I have heard the original is a lot better. I will add it to my netflix queue. :joy

Sadly, it hasn't been released on DVD yet.....and who knows when it will. :(

This movie pissed me off. I had super high hopes being a RE fan boy. Big time fail. What the hell is a RE story without Umbrella.

Deception 8/10 Pretty interesting thriller and really well acted.....just sadly rather predictable.

Cloverfield 8.5/10 Finally watched this and I have to say it was better than I thought it would be. Now I can see what a lot of the hoopla was about. It didn't really scare me...but it was very entertaining.

Funny Games (original) 7/10...it was pretty artsy, which I don't mind. It was a more psychological thriller/horror than a shock gore film (since they did most of the death off camera).

Bloated storyline, over ambitious, and a disappointment after I first watched it a the Cinema, especially as I love Pitch Black.

Maybe because Riddick kicks ass.

Out of interest, how busy was the movie theater???

It was relativley busy , I went to a low key cinema , screen wasn't too big etc.
I felt this was a movie that didn't need the imax experience where I was originaly going and being honest couldn't be arsed going there since its quite far . God knows why , since I was wrong. The action scenes although not too many were quite incredible even on the small screen. I'm sure this movie would rock at the imax.

Alot of the other cinemas I tried ( by phone ) though were actually sold out so the reason it wasn't full was probably because the cinema isn't well known.

I went to see punisher:war zone , I am legend and Hancock and all those times not one person was there.
Its like my own free cinema. :lol

Then again there not the greatest movies are they ?. :lol

Exceptional....just an amazing documentary. Though it did make me cry. I can't handle watching baby animals getting eaten by predators. :monkey2 I also can't handle watching creatures like Emperor Penguins huddling in the freezing weather for months on end.....I don't know why, but it makes me sad.

But aside from me needing box of Kleenex, it was absolutely awesome to watch! :lol
