To be honest, I only watched the back half. And after doing so, I'm glad I didn't watch the whole thing. Let's hope this is Jackson's only misstep.

The Road is a masterpiece :lecture, it just isn't a film that many will want to watch; it is demanding and difficult and doesn't work well with our ADD culture ...

I agree that is well made and shows great promise and overall is a good movie.

However, it is completely bleak and hopeless. There is no light at any point. There has to be some hint of that in at least one character. I don't know.

Splice - 6/10

Certainly one of the more intersting thrillers I've seen recently, but it fails in the third act.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (remake) - 5/10

It completely lacked the atmosphere of the original, and the dream sequences were very unimaginative considering the technology they had to play with compared to the early eighties. Haley did a competent, but ultimately forgettable job. It makes you realize just how important Englund's personality and performance were in making Freddy truly creepy in that first film.

This was the oddest David Lynch film I had ever seen, but only because it wasn't as weird nor as disturbing as his other works. Still, a very good movie.

I liked 3:10, more of a 6/10 for me, but I agree on The Straight Story great movie, very gentle but it sucks you right in and takes on a great journey... sad to say I still don't own it on DVD I must remedy that. 3:10 to Yuma is a 9/10 for me. I LOVED it.

Gentleman Broncos: 3/5. It was pretty good. If you have any interest in bad sci-fi/fantasy books, you have to see it. I've liked the other two Hess movies and this one was in the same, cringing, uncomfortable, embarrassing humor of the other ones. It takes place in their usual alternate universe where fashion and style has stayed in 1982 but with today's tech. Sam Rockwell was brilliant.

Incredibles: 5/5. Watched it with the commentary. Brad Bird is great. He really has a great sense of cinema and is very intelligent. It will be very interesting to see how he does with the next Mission: Impossible movie.

Where the Wild things are.

7/10

I liked it but I think I got the wrong message out of it. I kind of felt depressed after it , the kid seemed to have mental health problems. Snapping at the slightest thing. I noticed it right from the start , jumping on the dog nearly breaking its back. He seemed to hate his family and then even when he met the " wild things " it seemed they were going to eat him if he did the slighest thing wrong and all the creatues seemed to be really depressed too. I bought this for my little cousion who's four but I'm debating giving it to him now. :lol

Have I pulled the completely wrong message from the film ? , I've never read or even seen the book.

I think the boy just wanted to live in a fantasy world he would be accepted for who he is,which explains why the creatures played harsh and liked to hurt eachother.I don't take this movie seriously though.

The creatures all represent different part of the boys own personality. He was coming to terms with how difficult it is to be a parent. In particular a single parent.

Yea I watched it last night on HBO as well, 6/10, its well done but as you say in 2d its really nothing special that hasn't been told plenty of times before. Its just so Fern Gully from the the guy transforming into one of them right upto the tree eating machine.

Also I really felt like by the last shot of the humans being forced back to theyre "dying planet" it didn't make Jake look like a hero at all but a traitor. Quarritch maybe an ass but he was right about Sully. Its not like upto that point he wasn't a consumer as well. He saw an oppurtunity for a better life and ____ on his own race for it, thats how I saw it.

How to Train Your Dragon

10/10

Created by the same directors of Disney's Hit Animated Film Lilo and Stitch How to Train your Dragon brings much of the same awesomeness to the table. I waited until this movie cam out on blu ray and man how dumb was I? The movie was awesome, the characters well designed and voice acted by some huge names. The dragons were SWEET and the story was exciting, action packed, full of comedy and heart warming as well. This was a great movie perfect for kids and adults alike. If you havent bought this yet, what are you waiting for? You might also want to pick up a few of the toys for your shelves as well!

However the other 60 minutes of the film were BAD. i mean Roddy Piper bad..and i LOVE John Carpenter. This film has one of the most drawn out fight scenes i've ever seen. The Piper vs Keith David fight scene subtracted a whole point from the total.

Flash Gordon (1980) 6/10

I can't believe I sat through all of it. Really cheesy. I'm a big fan of sci-fi, but one of the few properties that I let slip pass me over the years is Flash Gordon. The film isn't good (never seen the original serial). Did I mention how cheesy it is?

It was cool seeing Timothy Dalton and Max Von Sydow in these hilarious roles, but aside from that I don't have much more praise for this film.

However, that song played during the opening credit roll is boss.

Killers: 1/5

Terrible. This is the second chick-flick with an action slant that I watch, and I think it'll be my last. I also watched the Bounty Hunter a couple of months ago and it was even worse. I know, what the hell was I expecting?

Apparently women don't care about logic in a story, as long as the two leads get together in the end. Whereas the men, who end up having to invest in the action part of the story, end up ultimately disappointed since it all ends up not making any sense.

In the Bounty Hunter, I remember the end was setting itself up to have a twist with the best friend guy seemingly going to double-cross them. It was clear as day that they were heading in that direction in the third act. But then they just dropped it and ended with everyone oh so happy to be together again. It totally felt like it was test-screened, and all the women commented that the end twist was unnecessary/confusing, so the studio removed it without removing the set up for the twist.

In Killers,
the father in law is behind all the killers going after Ashton. He even kills Ashton's handler in cold blood purely from his incorrect assumption, and even kills a couple of the agents he himself activated. And in the end everything is okay and happy.

I'm more surprised than anything else that these multimillion dollar movies are so utterly poorly written--down to just the most basic plot line that doesn't go anywhere or make any sense.

As good as Casino Royale was, to me it felt like too much of a set-up or prequel to all Bonds, without really being a Bond movie. I loved that Quantum took what Casino did and brought it closer to a true "good" Bond movie. It had a great pace and tone. I didn't mind the shakey cam business. I'm used to it by now.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - 7/10.

I've read the book, and I'm about half way through the second. I have been really enjoying the books, but they really could have used an editor.

The movie is a very good adaptation - they've changed some things to make it fit in a reasonable time frame, but kept most of the main threads intact. Rapace is fantastic as Salander, and Rooney Mara is really going to have to step it up to match her. However, Daniel Craig will have no trouble being a better Blomquist.

And while I liked the film, it felt...hollow. Other than Lisbeth, I felt no connection to any of the film characters. Henrik, Harriet, Erika, Cecilia, all of whom were far more interesting and fleshed out in the book. Even Blomquist and Martin seemed flat.

I'm very much looking forward to the American adaptation, particularly with Craig as Blomquist and Plummer as Henrik.

And on a side note - what is it with swedish films and a lack of sex? Seriously. Let the Right One In stripped out all the obvious information in the book, leaving it to 1950's innuendo. And this movie? Blomquist and Berger's relationship is dropped to a few longing glances, there's nothing about her marriage, he turns down Cecilia, and they dropped many of the more lurid details of the events with Harriet, again falling back on innuendo. Showing the violent sex didn't seem to be a problem, but the consensual stuff? Pretty much stripped to traditional relationships. I just thought it was odd, since there's so much of it in the books, and it's very much a cornerstone of who some of these people are, especially Blomquist.

I have watched HTTYD three times now in as many days since I bought it on blu ray.

It is definately a 10/10 movie for me and definately up there for movie of 2010 with Inception :)

I didn't believe the day would ever come where I would say I preferred a Dreamworks movie over anything Pixar have done but that day has arrived

Really that good, too date I haven't really enjoyed a Dreamworks movie above a 6/10. I find them too child orientated and not enough depth. Pixar have always had the value that the story is more important than the animation itself and this has always been sadly lacking in any Dreamworks movie for me until now.

The relationship between Hicup and Toothless is just beautiful and the score is EPIC! Please check it out asap dude

I am probably in the minority but I don't like Kung Fu Panda or Shrek or anything else they have done to be honest, everything has been distinctly average for me especially with Pixar churning out 10/10 movie one after the other but this is very very different for me.

I will say in the defence of Pixar that all their movies are original screenplays and HTTYD is based on a book

I loved Kung fu Panda but it suprised me since I wasn't expecting anything at all. I think dreamworks tend to do well when they come up with something completely original unlike Antz which seemed to be very similar to Bugs Life.

Predators BD 7.5/10 I really liked it! Having the original score was a HUGE plus for me. I think it only lacked in needing more Predator action or more Predators in general.

Predator BD 8.5/10 (should be a higher rating but some of the dialogue and acting sucks balls)

Predator 2 7.5/10 (better dialogue and acting but the original is better and has a better setting)

It was a "Predator" Saturday :lol

Would you agree that I have pretty good taste in both movies and acting? I'm telling you, Predator 1 had some of the cheesiest garbage ever. Alan Dutch? Why does an American military figure named Alan Dutch sound like he's from AUSTRIA? Not to mention the ho mo Billy and his gay scene near the end.
