Prince of Persia - 7/10.

Effects were good, acting was good, pretty much all was in order...for some reason I just didn't really care about this film. I'm giving it a 7 as I'm sure others will have enjoyed it more than me and I can't really say anything was wrong with it.

Superman III: 7.5/10 Decent Superman film, not as good as I and II but still very enjoyable. It could have done with just a bit less sillyness IMO.

Superman IV: 6/10 Yeah... It's unfortunate that this one isn't as good as the others. Everything seemed worse, not only the story but also the effects. The only thing that remained good was Reeve's acting.

I am, purely because of the awesome work that Christopher Reeve did as Superman. Unfortunately everything else in this one was nowhere near as good as anything in the other films, which was unfortunate. 6/10 might be a bit high, but for me it justified this grade this time. If I watch it again (and I have to admit it's a big IF) then the rating might change :)

I thought The Strangers was decent but not once did I feel even remotely creeped out nor did I find it very suspenseful. Maybe my expectations were too high cause I had a friend who kept going on about how creepy it was but it really didn't do anything for me. I did appreciate they didn't go for the gore factor or toture porn and tried to rely more on suspense but ultimately it just fell short imho. I did like the masks though.

Ghost Rider: 9/10

I loved this movie when it first came out, I was a bit obsessed.

I watched some clips of the movie on youtube a while ago and thought it was cheesey and I had outgrown it, but over the weekend I watched it and critiqued it using a rubric as a homework assignment for my advanced drama class, and I ended up really loving it again.

Sure, there was a bit of cheese in a few spots, but honestly you can't look at it that way because that's what the ghost rider character is. After watching the movie as a whole, the first transformation scene went from cheesey to epic.

The final fight could have been a bit better, but honestly I love the flaming skulls, the story, the western aspect, and Nicolas Cage was great.

Many will disagree with me I'm sure, but I loved this movie and I'm pumped for the sequel now.

Or to put it another way:

"Sometimes a movie fails and succeeds at the same time. Because by any real-world standard, this is a stupid piece of junk. But it's very good at being a stupid piece of junk..."

http://www.movies.com/movie-reviews/ghost-rider-review/dave-white/m59752

Pretty much the only way to look at it in a positive light imo.

No. I enjoyed the film and thought it was great. Why other people don't is beyond me.

If it's because it wasn't entirely true to the source material....the movie's story was much better.

Just to be clear, the article I quoted was a positive review of Ghost Rider.

Well then that explains it imho. I hate when people hype the crap outta something. Its human nature to prove people wrong. Its not the best thing since sliced bread but it was a nice taste of true horror and something more original.

How was the gore?

RETARDED. The only thing this film had was cheap gore. I feel sorry for the real talent that sit on the sidelines while pee-on film makers are given the nod at making a movie. What a joke. These type films make me sick. In all honesty it wasn't the attention whore gore that made me hate this film, it had NOTHING, it was an microwaved, weak burrito from Taco Bell.

Nah dude, my user name is "Voorhees27" :lol I'm talking about the kinda gore that involves sadistic torture crap. Dulling ones senses, that kinda gore. Just read the Hitchcock quote in my signature, that should explain my motivation.

Bottom line (and a bit off topic) I don't need to see every damn thing that happens, I don't need detail, I don't need to see the insides of a persons dead corpse to appreciate the fact that they're dead. I don't need to see how (in detail) how to skin someone alive. I have a pretty good idea how that ____ would go down. :lol How about the human imagination? (Inception and Shutter Island type ____) There is nothing more terrifying than the subconscious human mind.

Gore is fine but excessive torture and explicit gore is absurd and unecessary. Its even the opposite of scary or intriguing.

I've recently got into the show. I really like it so far and I never realized Mark Hamill was the voice for Firelord Ozai.

I saw previews for the movie months back when it was first released and thought it looked terrible. Everyone looked mis-cast and most of the reviews I've read have all been really negative.

Like i said, If you are a fan of the show dont go see this movie. I went in with an open mind expecting as always that they were goin to change stuff for a movie adaptation but it was horrible more horribble than i thought possible. Awful directing, bad acting and very poor story telling, i have watched the entire series several times and is one of my all time favorite cartoons but even i was left wondering at times "what the hell is going on??". Its a shame because anyone who hasnt seen the tv series doesnt know how good it could have been.

Spielberg on Spielberg ... 8/10.

I found this several-year-old TCM documentary on DVD. It is basically just an hour-and-a-half of Steven Spielberg talking about his movies (with clips therefrom). It was actually really interesting in a DVD-extra kinda way.

Body of Lies 9/10. Solid spy/counterterrorist thriller with DiCaprio and Crowe.

Since the 80's movies rarely show guts anymore. Even the "torture porn" stuff like Saw, while being violent and gruesome rarely show entrails. I miss the days of the original Dawn of the Dead and real pig intestines. :(

Oh it's not that I don't want to give it a second chance, it's just that it's a show that's kinda hard to get here, and on Blu it's really a bit too expensive than I'm willing to pay for only 14 episodes, even though it is a great show. I've been waiting for this to drop in price for a long time now, but I'm not sure if it ever will drop in price. Certainly more a thriller than horror, but it does have a lot of elements from the latter. This film gets a spot on my shelf mainly because its premise is very similar to an old Twilight Zone episode from the 60's. That and this film inspired the Silent Hill video games, which are debatably the scariest games ever made.

And Tim Robbins is a great actor.

I do agree though that the visual quality on this blu release is a bit soft. The audio too.

From the Wiki article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob%27s_Ladder_(film)#Plot):

"At the dénouement, we learn Jacob never made it out of Vietnam; his body is shown in an army triage tent just after he expired. Apparently, the entire series of events turns out to have been a dying hallucination. Before the film credits, an on-screen title card states that the U.S. Army allegedly experimented with a hallucinogenic drug called BZ, a claim denied by the Pentagon."

Omg, My bad I totally misunderstood you or read it wrong, yes he is dreaming the entire film (or in limbo) within his hallucinations. And yes the film maker makes that clear when he wakes up in Vietnam at the end. What I mean't was the story was straight forward and the events were all in pattern as we saw them (previous marriage, new marriage, etc, etc) I guess I must have read it wrong, you said dream and I was thinking hallucinations. Jake doesn't make the best first impression during the early parts of the film. When you first see him he's yelling his lines (in that wrestling pit), which I'm sure strained his ability to hold an accent. This being a Bruckheimer production, they might as well have gotten Depp.

I still somewhat enjoyed it though.

Cool story & lots of action. It's just hard for me to believe that Angelina who is so frail looking and skinny- can kick the s#!t out of tons of people.

Robin Hood (7/10)
Was hoping it would be better, but for the most part I enjoyed a new take on a story I have heard and watched toooo many times b4.

Repo Men - 6/10 - Eh, was ok, nothing special. The virtual reality ending was neat though.

One think I don't like about future movies is when they don't have futuristic vehicled. This movie looks to take place in at least another 40-50 years yet there are several modern Smart cars in as well as POS cars like 90's 240SX and such.

Survival of the Dead - 3/10 - Pretty much a ____ty remake of Day of the Dead on a island. Bad acting by everyone.

Robin Hood (2010) 8.5/10

Not sure why it got so much hate. I enjoyed it. Had a lot of actors I liked. (Namely Mark Strong, Kevin Durand and Max Von Sydow)

I agree. I think the director's cut helps it, but overall I thought it was well done. i did not find it slow at all and the pace to me was pretty good.

I love the cinematography and look of the film.

There so much hate about how big Crowe was, but I don't think he was overweight.

I hope they can get the approval for the next chapters to be made. I miss film making like this.

Whilst this was a pretty awesome movie and was similar to Heat it lacked the edge that Heat had in the gun battles. Affleck is sure showing us he is a director learning his craft well and certainly on the rise!

Good but not as great as the first one. Terrance Stamp is great and Reeve is undoubtably amazing as Superman. Always hated the "I'm giving up my powers" stint.

Copland:8/10,first time ive seen it,i underestimated this one as i never bothered watching it before.

Nightmare on Elm Street(2010):4/10.I wanted to like this movie, and i didn't expect anything to be the same as the Robert Englund movies, but as a movie this one was just terrible.

The first 30 minutes of the movie was building around Kris, but she was killed and the focus on nancy(Main character) didn't happen before 35 minutes into the movie, who barely had screen time the first 30 minutes,i wanted this movie to be good but it was poorly executed.

The NOES Score was great though,i got the same old Elm Street feeling during the intro, and the rest of it was just as good,Steve Jablonsky really kept the old Elm Street style in his music.

The Girl playing Nancy is one of the worst female actors i have ever seen,if not THE worst.

I feel the same about this movie. The sad thing is...they even screwed up some ofthe scenes that they directly copied from the original.

~~I also loved the soundtrack and felt that is what helped me stomach some of the crap in this movie.

- Watching it rekindled my wanting to collect G.I. Joe figures; controlling myself to browse the FS: GI Joe thread as it'll just mean more money to burn
- Burgess Meredith's voice acting as Golobulus was epic!!! :D and I always liked the voice acting of Chris Latta as Cobra Commander.. Was pumped everytime I heard him yelling at the top of his voice as a kid.
- A must-watch for any G.I. Joe or Military collector, but you have to bear with the animation as it was released almost 2 decades ago

This is what I rate it. The first one had a much better story, but 2 seemed to be more of a demo reel for the effects team. I love all of the new stuff introduced in this movie, but there just doesn't seem to be fun in it like the first one has.

And I feel really generous about that. Thought the writing was just terrible, lame villain too. Didn't live up the original at all and carried the overall story maybe an inch further.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 6.5/10

By far my second favorite in the franchise. It doesn't try to be Raiders all over again it goes in a completely darker direction which separates it from the pack. Too much for some I guess but I like I it.

SM3 was utter garbage. It's like that third X-Men movie that was so terrible they had to start making prequels just to keep the franchise going. :lol

Wanted to love IM2 as much as the first, especially with Cheadle as War Machine, but I just couldn't give my heart to this one. The acting was good, great in some cases, the effects were awesome, but the writing just had me wanting more story. Black Widow was just kind of there, which was unfortunate though I wouldn't have wanted her to take precident. The drinking bit was a nice nod to the classics but the reason for it was redundant. Reinventing the power supply was an unneccessary subplot. Such a cliche sequel move to try and retell/reinvent something that was a big part of the original.
