Clash of the Titans (2010): Sigh....I REALLY wanted to like this.

Liam Neeson? Awesome, check.

Ralph Fiennes? Awesome, check.

Based on Greek mythology? Awesome, check.

I loved the original version as a kid, as I was looking forward to this...but I was completely underwhelmed. As a whole, EVERYTHING about the original was better. Sure, I liked the contemporay updated special effects, and I liked the new Kraken design, but overall, this cannot compete with the original. The only good thing was the omission of teh mechanical owl. I enjoyed the fight with Medusa, but again, this was done better in the original.

5 / 10.

^ I agree with all your likes there DinoDB1975. I too was very underwhelmed by this movie. I wanted to like it too and judging by the trailers for it I was sure I would.
But ultimately IMO the Direction was horrid and the acting by most of the main cast was dire!! (especially Sam Worthington I'm sorry to say)

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back - 4/10

I'm a fan of all of Smith's Jersy movies (Clerks, Dogma, Mallrats, Chasing Amy), but I didn't find this movie particularly funny at all. Smith seemed to give up his trademark dialogue for fart and sex jokes. Some of the cameos were good, especially Mark Hamill.

Raging Bull: 7/10 It was the first time I saw this film. I expected more of it. I can see why this film is called a masterpiece by some, but I wouldn't call it that. It's a character film, but I just didn't like the main character. He was unpleasant and I couldn't find much sympathy for him, which made the whole film a bit unpleasant. It definitely was a great performance from Robert DeNiro though!

The Mummy III

I liked it. Hell no not better then Kingdom, but it did have one cool thing that KOTCS forgot.....awesome villian deaths. Beheadings, face meltings ect....very fun. Decent effects, some were good, the Yeti's were horrible. Jet was cool in the very few scenes he was in, Fraser was....poor, I thought. He just wasnt as good as he was in the last flicks. Mario was a good Evy...but eh.....Rachel will ALWAYS be Evy.

The end battle thing was eh...ho hum. Was cool, but ended too quickly. Returns had a better 3rd act.

Oh and I feel bad for China....if the fight between Jet and Michelle was the "fight the whole asia is waiting for!" well.....yeah. Not that awesome.

7/10. Super fun movie, a great time. But its stupid....so, if you want something like TDK...look elsewhere. If you want to kill a few hours while watching fun action, this is your movie.

I rated it a 9.5/10

It's a film that I don't watch often, and since there's a lot happening in those 2,5 hours, it's like there always something "new" about it.
I like the characters, acting and just the suspense of the film. Especially lateron in the film.

I think the ending is very good, given what they can do with it from real-life facts.

What a shame! I LOVED the first movie. Have watched it several times. This one just seemed, well, needless. The qualities that made the first one good were missed in this one. The first one was funny without them seeming to try to be funny. This one felt VERY campy. I think they were trying to hard. I don't know, I'm bummed about this one.

The Invention of Lying - 6/10

I'm a big Ricky Gervais fan, but this fell flat for me. I liked the premise for the most part, I just don't get how being unable to tell a lie is the same thing as saying whatever is on your mind with no filter. Well in that world it was acceptable to speak freely and blurt out the truth. Everyone did it. So it was normal. They had no concept of lying or deceit. They were basically like children in that sense. Little Kids do the same stuff. They have no problem talking about things most adults would find embarrassing.

Regardless.. I still would give that movie a 5/10. :lol

Cop Out was really boring and the pecker on the window was probably the only time I laughed. The other 2 cops in the movie were completely pointless. I think Kevin needs to lay off the weed a bit and get back to making movies.

Just got back from seeing this. It's the best Will Ferrel flick I've seen since Anchorman, and just like that film, it wasn't just Ferrell that made me laugh. The whole cast of The Other Guys all have some solid jokes and lines. Wahlberg, Sam L. Jackson, Michael Keaton(!), Steve Coogan, and even The Rock are all funny in this.

The first half hour is the funniest stuff I've seen yet this year. The rest of the film doesn't quite keep up the pace, but it's still good.

Actually, I thought Chris Klein's brilliance really shined in this film. His performance is so truly awful that it's actually awesome. Everytime he's not on screen the movie is just bland. His supreme ____tiness keeps things lively and turns the film into a comedy.

Awesome, i voted it that also bud, really enjoyed it but didnt you feel let down by the end? It felt a little somewhat lacking ideas i thought

Definately better than expected though, also looking forward to Salt now :yess:

I wasn't really let down by the end... but it did seem a bit rushed indeed

The Zephyr suddenly becoming so hot that it explodes and taking the plane with it, was a pretty lame way to end the pursuit. It would have been cooler if Cruise somehow managed to get on the plane or whatever and actually beat the villain. Or having Diaz shoot it from the dock or whatever. It wouldn't be more farfetched then some other stuff we saw in the film.

Still overall it was a pretty funny film, better than expected, but nothing really special. I had a great night out watching the film so it fulfilled it's purpose IMO :)

Salt- 2/10

Absolutely hated this film. I don't recommend it, they should have stuck with Tom Cruise.

Wolfman- 8/10

Cool film, kinda corny at parts (though possibly as homage to the original). The end kinda sucked. Wish more movies like this were made though, it was pretty cool.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990): 7/10
I apologize for making fun of someone's request for figures from this movie... it was a lot more fun than I had remembered. Sure, in the grand scheme of film making its terrible. But, for what it is I think it was kickass :rock

X-Men Origins: Wolverine 6/10
Still an okay movie... some really great parts (like the relationship between Logan and Victor) but it becomes an overall mediocre film due to some truly awful choices (deadpool).

Clash of the Titans -- 6/10

Decided not to see this one in theaters. Anyway, I rented it last week. Entertaining, good effects, but I really could've done without it. The movie was totally innacurate from a mythology point of view, and the plot was pretty damn mundane. Whole thing was like being served a plate of "meh..."

Watchmen (Director's Cut) -- 7.5/10

The original was good. When it comes to Watchmen, I liked it and thought it couldn't have been much better, but the movie's so heavy to sit through that I wouldn't see it again. With comic movies, there's a fine line you have to toe. On one side there's the general public that doesn't get the original complex storyline, and on the other there's the die-hard fans who must have every detail present in the final thing. Perfection's a hard thing to achieve. I'd say Sin City was still the best and most accurate comic book movie ever made.
Anyway, one viewing of Watchmen is enough here (you don't need more than that to get it), twice only if time has passed and you happened to catch it on Cinemax. But a three-hour re-run after sitting through the theatrical version opening weekend, and you won't want to even think about it for at least another year or so ;). Enjoyable film, but the length and general feel of it (which is spot-on to the comic, so no harm done) keep me from scrambling to catch it again on the movie channels. That's just the way a movie like this was fated.
Oh, and Malin Ackerman has no idea how to play roles like this. Really, her character goes off on so many deep and philosophical tangents that only a good actor could perform without sounding cheesy and forced. Other than that, performances and effects were pretty good. The cast was chosen well, save for that chick.

Watchmen (Theatrical Cut) 10/10

Watchmen (Director's Cut) 9/10

Glad I saw the Director's cut and all the extra scenes but honestly, I prefer the Theatrical cut and that's the version I've watched multiple times. The only scene that was cut that I thought was great was the Hollis Mason/Raging Bull death scene. I understand why it was cut and agree, but it's still a great scene.

Monster Squad 4/10. A good example how time can mess with your mind. I bought this on blu for $8 at BB, since I'm looking for good horror movies to start my kids down the path of fandom, without giving them pernanent nightmares. I remembered Monster Squad as being resonably decent - my memory is clearly flawed.

I do think that it's interesting to see how much the two monsters created by Winston in 1987 - the Gillman for this movie and the Predator - looked alike. When he first rose out of the water, I was shocked by the similarity.

http://theevilhorde.com/scrap%20photos/articles%20pics/gillman1.jpg

While the movie blew chunks, I'd love to see the Gillman, Mummy or Wolfman from Hot Toys! Noonan as Frank, yea, I could live without.

Just fun from beginning to end. Edgar Wright is a master of editing and I appreciated the hat gag. Three favorite things about it:

2. The use of old Zelda music when he falls for Ramona

Expendables - 8/10. Totally enjoyable cheesefest.

Scott Pilgrim - 0/10. Walked out halfway through. Absolute hipster garbage, and as someone who actually grew up during the '80s and experienced the 8-bit era firsthand and not in an indie retro "I'm so cool because I like ____ older than me" way, I was pretty much insulted by the entire thing. I hated every second of it that didn't have Mary Elizabeth Winstead in her underwear.

I thought I would enjoy it based on the trailers and what little I knew from pre-release stuff. During the movie, though, I felt like the guy who walks into a coffee shop and immediately realizes he made a mistake once he discovers he has neither a beret nor an ironic t-shirt on like every single other person in the building.

I just wanted entertainment, not to be bashed over the head with how clever you think you are.
