Law Abiding Citizen - It's a given fact that most movies require a certain amount of suspension of disbelief, but this is one of the most far fetched movies ever in terms of what Gerard Butler's character can do and what Jamie Foxx's character as District Attorney does (a DA going in on a bust...really?). However, I have to say that I enjoyed the HELL out of this flick, even though suspension of disbelief gets thrown out of the window. Guilty pleasure movie for me. 8.5 out of 10

Toy Story 3 10/10 Really, as perfect a movie as can be. Toy Story 3 made me feel at the age of 35 the same way Toy Story and Toy Story 2 did in my late teens / early 20's - a kid again. And that's the magic of the movie, being able to watch the film with my kids and for once returning to the joy and innocence of childhood.

I left the TV on a random Cinemax channel and got...

Transformers: ROTF - 2/10 - I had avoided this for quite a while, I think I was right to, there didn't seem to be a coherent story anywhere.

17 Again - 5/10 - Didn't hate, didn't love it. Compared to the movie before it this was like a classic Kurosawa film. The friend in this had some pretty cool collectibles, although the landspeeder bed could be a bit over the top.:lol

As for the last movie I watched.

Grown Ups- 3/10 Awful movie. Wasn't very funny, only a few parts, and they weren't hysterical or anything. Story......wasn't even there really. There were moments that you could tell were supposed to be funny but were just awful. The acting was terrible, and with such an all star cast, it's sad that a better movie wasn't made. There were also many inappropriate scenes that did NOT need to be there, and it pissed me off.

Bottom Line, Happy Madison has really gone down the crapper, Pass on this one.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - 7/10. Like with most Harry Potter movies, I just don't get the excitement of them. Visually the movie is great, the story is fine, but it so long winded, the action is weak and most important I just don't get why some extremely powerful warlock that can beat Harry any day of the week doesn't just crush him, or have one of his other wizards take him out...Yeah, Im sure its in one of the books, but why do we need a thousand movies to explain this...

Liked parts of the film and its directing style during the moments were the characters were drugged. Very clever, original, and fun in that respect. Great pacing, and a fun movie that just kept given'r.... Also, I like how surprised how few of those "rolls eyes as if that could happen" parts took place in the film. Of course it had its fair share, but not of the Transporter 2 variety which had it in spades.

The Karate Kid- 10/10

Watched this for the first time tonight. (Go easy on me, it was before my time and I have watched dozens of other 80's and 70's movies.)

This movie was really excellent, and epic. I just love the theme of wisdom and guidance, and proving that the "weak" are not always so weak. And that knowledge is something that cannot just be bought.

The only thing that irked me just a little was that a couple story elements were unrealistic/forgotten, but it was just a little bit and is a minor gripe. The other thing is the abrupt ending, I kind of wished they had a resolving scene, or Miyagi telling him how good he did and then him and Alli going to the beach together before the credits.

Anyways, I really want to watch the sequel now. I hear it is not quite as good as this, but nonetheless I want to see it. Not sure about seeing the third one though.

I will probably also watch Khung Fu Kid as well, but I doubt it will be as great as this.

6.5/10 A lot of good laughs in the first 2/3, but only worth a one time rental.

We planned to see Toy Story 3, but they had sold out of tickets 20 minutes ago. Saw Shrek instead. Will be seeing TS2 next weekend. I expect it to put Shrek to shame.

Shutter Island - 8/10 Thought it was good, but a little predictable...i pretty much figured it out before it even really got going. Overall though good movie.

I agree with this one. Very predictable, but well done.

I think it you look at the extra's you can see how the writer wanted to make it so. Dropping subtle hints throughout the movie.

Question:

So, I think at the end, he was cured but faked it as he had no desire to go on. Am I reading too much into his look over at the doctor and his last statement to the shrink ?

Yep, Toy Story 3 kicked ass. The scene where they take each other's hands was one of the best dramatic moments I've seen in ages. Like the scene in Ratatouille when Ego flashes back to his childhood as he tastes the food, or the silent first 10 minutes of Up, Pixar is able to capture the finest dramatic moods with simple elegance.

Hancock -- 5/10. First half was entertaining enough. Second half was a mess. Reasonably good concept, terrible execution.

Traitor -- 8.5/10. Didn't see all of it ... but the segment I saw were really good. Cheadle is a deep cover spy in a terrorist organization, and is being pursued by the FBI.

Memento -- 9/10. Inventive and well done.

Eclipse - 6/10. Saw a midnight screening of Eclipse (don't make fun of me, it was my girlfriend's 12 year old daughter's birthday and I got stuck with chaperone duties). I'd have to say it was the best of the three movies...but that's not saying much. I didn't know that David Slade directed this until I saw it last night, and I think that was a good move to give the movie some semblance of horror instead of being a teen angst film.

All the incessant whiing from the Bella and Jakob character was so annoying.

Eclipse 4/10 - Too damn slow, too many grown women screaming over a 16 year old boy (Isn't that being a pedophile?). And it just was not that good. The acting was forced throughout and the special effects sucked!

Toy Story 3 - B

OK this moive is most likely an A, but throw in a family of 7 sitting on both sides of you who talk and switch seats, back and forth, during the entire film became a test of endurance. The most unpleasant movie experience I've ever had. Couldn't even enjoy the short film at the start. It was the audience v. the family with Toy Story 3 in the background. So, I'll have to see it again someday.

The Horseman - C

A basic revenge flick of a father dishing out punishment for his dead daughter. However, the brutality is way off the charts and too much for my taste. You'll hold your breath the entire time as he beats the s**t out of folks and gets the s**t beathen out of him. I'm sure this film is going to have plenty of fans.

Monster v. Aliens - D

Loved the animation, but it was hard sitting through this one. It wasn't horrible, just boring.

Well i was worried that I was gonna get slammed for slamming this film (not that it would have stopped me mind you), but I glad to see we'er all pretty much in agreement. However my issues with the film seem to be a lil different.

I read a CNN review a couple of days ago that took issues with the race of the cast. At 1st I was under the impression that some one was all sour grapes over their race not being shown enough on in a good light. But then I saw Air Bender & IT ALL BECAME CLEAR! I totaly under stood what the CNN reviewer was talking about.

The whole thing was very strange. The HUB of the movie is based on Asian culture & mythology. Yet ALL the main character (that are good guys) that have speaking roles are white. This water bending chick & her brother are the only white people in this villiage of eskimo looking people. Same with the Earth benders. Because they are not part of "this books" plot they are all Ty looking.

I'm not one of those people who have a chip on their sholder cause their own race was not front & center. Hell I'm not even an Air Bender fan, I just went looking to be dazzeled by FX & Martial Art skills. Yet a person like myself with such low expectations were turned off by such outlandish & obvious exploitation of minority races. M. Night used these people as nothing more than "props & back drops".

Its like dude said: "hey you Asian people have a really cool mythology, but let white people showcase it because you just don't look as cool as white people doing it". & what was up with all the "evil fire people" being of Mid East desent???

Its all too clear to me that this was not just a case of casting actors in what ever roll they seemed good at. M. Night was trying to make a statement. & then the speaking!!! FREAKING EVERY ONE talked like they were straight out of white middle class America??? Its not that I wanted them to speak in a forgin language or even a heavy accent. But there was no need to have them sound so........American. I was expecting them to sound like maybe the Asian cast from The Golden Child, or maybe Blood Sport.

I mean this kid after being frozen in an ice ball for over 100 years just pops out talking like he just got back from a shopping trip from "Mall of America". Now I am very much aware that the main reason white actors replace minorites is so the the white American audiance will be able to "relate" to the story better. But in a bizzare twist of irony, the cast was SOOOOOOOO white that it hindered its audiance from becoming part of the story & relating.

Like I said....the whole thing was just.....strange.

Final score: Air Bender gets 2.75 stars out of 5. The FX & Martial Art element was the one & only redeeming part of the whole film.

Mutants-0/10, French zombie flic that doesn't add anything new to the genre, no good action, no good character development, terrible cliche ending, didn't enjoy any of it.

The Room-7/10, one of the greatest bad movies ever made, it's listed as a drama but you'll be laughing more than you'll be connecting with the characters, has some of the best one-liners that you can quote back and forth between your friends and more gratuitous sex scenes than late night showcase, it got a little hard to keep watching in the 3rd act but the ending was totally worth it, that might have been because we watched it so late too.

Kingdom of Heaven (Directors Cut): 6/10

A pretty good movie, but I often found myself a bit confused by what was happening and why it was happening. I was entertained, but it did feel like the movie could have been tightened up a bit.

Not sure if that is because its the directors cut (first time seeing either version), or just a general issue with the movie.

Avatar (well, I watched a good chunk of it. Was doing errands around the house while it was on): 6/10

It had its moments, but nothing that blew me away or kept me entertained enough to sit and watch the entire thing. Climax was OK, though. Definitely one of Cameron's lesser works, based on what I saw.

" Paranormal Activity " . Quite dull for the most part , but the ending.....SERIOUSLY creepy . Very effective . I don't remember the last time a horror movie made me even remotely nervous , but I have to admit , going up to bed that night , I was just a little bit more "aware" of the dark corners and empty stairwell .:horror
