I didn't mind this film wasn't great though.

Milla was as easy on the eye as always, and they seemed to be trying to pull off some over stylised Matrix meets Barbarella vibe... but for me they failed, it just looked cheesy, and the acting wasn't even worthy of porn stars who try to go straight!
Not for me!

The Proposition 10/10 Great, great film!!! Terrific script by Nick Cave and stunning cinematography. Might be my new favorite Western (or close to Unforgiven). Also can't believe how good Danny Huston was in this. I only remember him from "Wolverine" so I didn't think much of him. Shows what a great script and director can do for getting performances out of an actor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you haven't checked this out.

Hmmmm, I may have to pick this up. For $10 it can't be a bad as a blind buy. :monkey3

I used to think that Planet of the Apes was the worst Burton movie, now I'm not so sure. I had actually watched part of this about a year ago and then given up. But it was on the other day so I sat through it. Just a terrible movie... didn't change much from the original; but then the ending was just awful and drawn out.

Hit the nail on the head. I think he needs to stay away from the remakes. Burton works best letting his imagination run wild so he should create everything he does from scratch. Then again he did the same with that " 9 " movie and I don't think many people found that to great.

I was okay with Sweeney Todd... didn't blow me away, but I wasn't driven insane either. But, I was unfamiliar with the musical so there was nothing to compare it too.

I still hope that Alice In Wonderland will be cool; the last preview I saw was impressive; but his track record with remakes is not a good sign :monkey2 Which sucks because so many of his movies are classics to me.

As for the last movie I watched...

My first time seeing it and I gotta say I am very greatly suprised. From reading the mixed reviews here I was very hesitant to see this and while it didn't feel as much like a Terminator movie it is still a fun watch and imo better the T3. Plus when CG Arnie made his debut, I had a smile ear to ear.

Back to Burton, I actually saw 9 at the theaters with my little boy and I thought it was pretty cool. Not a great movie, but I enjoyed it 7/10. I have very little hope for Alice in Wonderland. I finished my week of Blade films with Blade Trinity. I saw it years ago but barely paid attention to it so I thought I might like it more a second time. Nope.

For fun, I'm going to break it down with numbers:

base score: 0/10
+8 points for Wesley Snipes
-6 points for lame Dracula
+4 points for Jessica Biel being hot
+3 points for Ryan Reynolds being funny and buff
-7 points for Reynolds' and Biels' characters taking too much screen time away from Blade.

+5 for Whistler being awesome
-5 for (spoilers) killing off whistler...again (lol just bring him back
+4 for having a somewhat interesting story.
-3 for having lame vampire villains.
+1 for vampire dogs.
-1 for David Goyer not being a good director to follow up Guillermo Del Toro.
+2 for not being the worst Marvel movie sequel or third movie ever.

5/10

Russel and Bale play remarkably well off one another but Bale in particular is really good in this and I'm not even a huge Bale nut. It's a different role for him in a way. He generally seems very human/real in his movies but this one is even moreso, probably because his character is so humble and rough. Ben Foster is also exceptional.

The musical scene where the youngest brother was being flogged was particularly moving. Especially when it stops and the counter calls out "38"

Danika - 7/10 - I really liked Marissa Tomei in this flick. Not an academy award performance, but still interesting at the least. It seemed to me that she had a few "left field" moments in there that may or may not have been intentional, but worked very well just the same considering that this movie was about a woman's world inside of her insane mind.

And I thought is was very good that they kept the movie wierd without having to use the death of the children as the "strange twist" at the end of the movie.

I think 2 is my favorite. Some really good action sequences and it really explored the character of Peter. I think I'll take it off my queue based on all these comments. I recently watched Wonderland (2/10) which seemed to be kinda the same--marketed as a comedy but turned out to be a drama. I don't know if it was because I was expecting comedy, but I was bored to tears by it and I disliked most of the characters (especially the lead guy!). At first glance it seemed like a winner to me with it being set in 1987, since I have very vivid and fond memories of being in Jr High back then. But I just couldn't get into it at all. So it seems like that's what's in store for Funny People.

Looks like it might need a repeat viewing then.

Fantastic Mr. Fox - 8/10 - very fun, great animation, lots of love put into it. And clever :) Wish it had made more in box office :(
Loved this as well as did my wife and 8 year old... the 5 year old however (who was the main instigator for seeing it) got a bit bored! I've read all the classic Roald Dahls to my kids and I have most of Wes Andersons movies on DVD (Rushmore's still my fave 9/10) so it was a marriage made in heaven!

The Iron Giant is definitely one of the most underrated animated tales, and quite possibly the only really good Vin Diesel picture.

I watched it on BR last night with my wife, 9/10 as well! :D

I remember when it first came out I took my wife to see it during the day. Later that night my brothers wanted to see it so I went along and saw it again that same day. :D I have never heard my brother laugh that hard in my life. :lol

Overwhelmingly beautiful is the best way, no the only way, to describe it, IMO.
