The Shining 10/10 (Some of the number patterns are mind boggling :google) Thanks Dekard.

Right at 1:06:06 (666) he takes his drink and sells his soul to the devil. 2:21:00 The date on the picture (1921) appears and the film ends.

If you look closely at the end of the movie (in the B&W pic), look at Jack's right "raised" hand, there is a small note in it.

I think I get it now (the actual point/mystery) to the film. In Kubrick's mind this film consisted of a "mirror image" world. Its the mirror image that seperates reality from fantasy. The reason the patterns 12 - 21 and 24 - 42 exist is his way of giving a fantasized event to every moment of reality. Like for instance at 21:42 the twin girls appear and then at exactly 42:42 the girls appear again.

When you look into a mirror you see reality (you) and fantasy (The image looking back at you) Ones real and ones fake.

Two elevators
Room 237 (Only room with double doors)
Twin girls
Two Jack Torrences

Reality - Fantasy.

At the end of the film Jack wasn't reincarnated into the hotel as the caretaker that was "always there" he was the mirror image of Jack Torrence 1980. Somehow the hotel had the ability to create this phenomenon.

Just my 2 cents.

Also how the Grady Jack talks to is not the same Grady Ullman says killed his family.

Charles Grady went insane and murdered his family.

Jack speaks to Delbert Grady, a figment of his imagination he bases on the Charles Grady story Ullman spoke of. He speaks to Llyod and Grady in mirrors, they are Jack's equivilent to Danny's Tony. Tony is Danny's caretaker. When Danny is scared, Tony takes over. "You've always been the caretaker", is Jack fighting it out with Grady for control of his mind.

I got the gist that Jack never fully realised he could Shine, and so because he misunderstands his ability, the Hotel is able to take advantage of him and prey on his weakness.

Pure genius isn't it? If people want to truly appreciate creativity in film The Shining wins in that department hands down with Fight Club as runner up.

Hows this for number patterned foreshadowing ................. he throws a tennis ball up against the wall (37:28) exactly 12 times and then during the "Heres Johnny" scene he smashes the bathroom door with an axe exactly 12 times. The reason I say its foreshadowing is because the tennis ball and axe make almost the exact same "thud" noise.

Stanley Kubrick spent 5 years making this film and I think its obvious why. The man was a perfectionist.

Yea, he really is a genius. All of his films are exceptional, you just don't see that level of thought in cinema anymore, or very rarely.

I didn't like it. It was like Deliverance meets the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Plus I wanted almost every character to die. Bad casting, nothing we haven't seen over and over again in past films. Good concept with "meh" execution. Not good enough for me. 4/10.

I though more Delevirance meets the hills have eyes:D

a solid 7.5 for me

Wait a minute. How does 1:06:06 equal 666? And how does 2:21:00 equal 1921? I'm confused. Explain before my head explodes.

xmen origins wolverine
hmmm if you are a wolvie fan then its good. jackman is the living embodiment of everyones favourite canadian and he puts in another class performance as the hero. liev schreiber is excellent as victor and i would love to see him in a spin off. gambit makes a very welcome debut too and there is a particularly well choreographed fight scene between him and wolverine that i enjoyed. As for the other characters; deadpool is totally over the top, The blob is pretty poor and the other minor mutants in here are instantly forgetable. the story needs to cover a lot of grond and it shows with not enough fleshing out of the main protaganists. it would have been better to maybe concentrate on the origins story from the brilliant mini series of comic books.
overall a good but not great movie but it does have two stand out performances from jackman and shcrieber. and some of the fight scenes are particularly good.

X-Men Origins 4/10

First time seeing it and the last. Ughh, I cant belive they butchered my main mutant Deadpool the way they did. I haven't kept up with any Marvel comics in years but since when can Deadpool teleport and shoot optic blasts? But what's worse is they "erased" his mouth. I mean c'mon, he's the Merc with the Mouth. They could have at least given him a more comic book accurate costume. I also really didn't like the love/hate relation between Wolverine and Sabertooth. I thought they were mortal enemies. Another thing I don't get is since Origins is a prequel, how come Sabertooth didn't seem to recognize Wolverine in X1? All that being said, Hugh Jackman was great as Wolverine as allways and I was happy to see Gambit in this one as well (though I wish he had gotton more screentime). Also as much as I hated the way they portrayed Deadpool, Ryan Renolds as Wade Wison seemed pretty spot on as I remeber him from the comics. All in all though I was sorely disspointed in this one just like I was with X3.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 7/10 - I liked the first flick quite a bit, but this one not so much. The FX is the main reason for the rating. Every scene with the parents suck ass, they are horrible in contrast to how good those parts were in the first movie. The ending wasn't that good. In the first flick Megatron was a pure bad ass, he was kicking all the Autobots buts including throwing Optimus Prime around, yet here, Optimus is taking 3 Decepticons on at once including Megatron. The Primes bring Sam back to life to save the day was cheezy.

Saw VI - 6.5/10 - I liked it better than V as a whole. Decent gore. Wraps up the Jigsaw story well. I'm sure we will see a VII . . .

Sudden Death - 6/10 - Ho hum action flick with Van Dammage. The ending was as far fetched as you can get in action flicks.

Valentine- 4/10 - ^^^^ty late 90's early 2000's teen slasher horror flick. Jessica Capshaw was hot in it though.

Great for blu , picture and sound. The rape scene was a bit much and the gore went way over the top. Probably should have worked on the story a bit more instead.

Friday the 13th Part IV 8/10: It's hard to say what is your favourite with such a long saga :lol But I believe part 4 is my favourite. That or the remake.

A well paced Horror with slasher violence and terror. Jason at his best and most menacing so far in the series. After a near confirmed death in Part III fans were held in suspense as Jason was almost certainly dead. However after being transported to a local morgue his body reanimates and he continues his rampage leaving a trail of bodies back to Crystal lake. Twilight 5/10

Finally got around to seeing what all the hype was about. Still trying to figure out what all the hype was about though. Never got the whole emo thing. It almost feels like nothing happened in the movie, and the dialogue was pretty pathetic. I'm glad I wasn't like that in high school.

I watched the movie and it was pretty bad. I think the story is fine but the acting is terrible. The main hype is really around the books and the movie just adds to that, plus have attractive men in it doesn't hurt either.

Darkness Falls: 7/10 Probably not the best movie to watch right before you go to sleep in a totally dark room with a cracking wooden ceiling while hearing the wind and rain outside your window :horror :lol
But I did it anyway :D
It was a pretty good watch!

:D I gave it a 7 the first time around. I'm a hard man to please with first impressions. It truly is a decent film just not anything above an 8 imo.

Yeah problem is people get caught up in the hype and you let yourself believe it only to be slightly let down.

Exactly. I was really hyped when I rented it and was a bit disapointed. I liked it but didn't get all the fuss.

After the hype simmered down I really liked it much more to be honest. For whatever reason the film reminds me of something out of the 80's somewhat. Compared to other modern horror films the cheese factor in this one is at a low. Some of the acting is lame but still very little.

Yep same here they don't really know how to make a good horror anymore not like they did back then anyway.

That's what happened to me. Once I got over the hype I liked it alot more. It did have an 80's horror film vibe now that you mention it. Probably because it's not a gore flick like most horror these days.

I'm sorry, ALL horror these days.
