Thats my favorite of the Romero posters because I remember it from a kid in the ShopRite VHS department before I'd seen any of them and being scared by it. I also remember the Evil Dead 1 and 2 vhs covers very distinctly.

While I cannot deny to most typical movie goers, this would be more or less a dull boring movie, both films were character driven and There Will be Blood had far superior performaces all around, at least Daniel took home best actor.

But the hype around Slumdog was truely unwarranted.

the only good part was when he yelled at his deaf kid "Stop flapping your arms and speak! SPEAK!!!"

The Oil Well explosion is intense, the Milkshake scene and when he tells his son off are pretty crazy as well.

What it comes down to are the visual styles and Slumdog was nothing remotely new or special, while the cinematography of TWBB feels very much the opposite of generic.

This is my exact same rating too, 9.5/10. Question for you, did it lose a .5 because of the lame "Its my dad" ................ 3 blocks away and I could EASILY pull over to get rid of the weed scene? Or also the fact that he had the mask on WAY before the store got broken into? Oh and the dumbass scene where linda talks about not needing her books. Just want to see if we think alike on this film. :D

The break in because I'm sure it is intented to be Michael that did it. Her dad even said a mask was stolen.

As for telling it was her dad, he did drive a police car that was marked different than the others.

When I was in high school my friend actually cut off a cop, IN HADDONFIELD, while we were baking out the car. We couldn't even air it out, he just lit up a cigarette but the cop didn't say anything, just gave him a ticket for not signaling. That scene still makes me laugh and think of that.

Texas Chansaw Massacre (remake) 7.5/10

I liked it a lot, beautiful cinematography (especially when shooting Jessica Beil) but it lacked the "documentary realistic" feel of the original. I also hate that they chose to show Leatherface's ummm face. Takes away the mystery. All in all, one of the better remakes that didn't totally crap on the original.

The original still gets a 10/10 from me.

Just goes to show that anything is doable if you do it right. This film is a prime example. Rob Zombie's Halloween is a different story. :monkey4

Rein, it does but as Voorhees said, it gets speculative at the very end.

But the numbers are no coincidence whatever their intention or meaning is. Stanley was a perfectionist and would spend an entire decade on a single project. I have no doubt he sat down and timed it all out on purpose.

What i found really interesting and couldn't believe I had never noticed, were the red things appearing during the various characters shining, as well as who has the ability.

And also the things moving around, which is definately not attributed to continuity. He would purposely move or remove completely objects from scene to scene.

I was a little skeptical but I read it then watched the movie, then read it again and watched the movie again, and I believe everything he says in that article is true except the Mayan calander theory. I'm not saying he's wrong, its just not as definate/provable.

I think all of his movies, whether masterpiece or not, required lots of drugs.

G. Romero Dawn of the Dead - Considered by many as the best Zombie flick ever, I first saw this during the late 80s and didn't think much of it. I guess I wasn't paying attention. This film is just brutal!
4.5 / 5

They Live - well this isn't a great movie, but it has one of the best fight scenes of all time.
3.5/5

Where the Wild Things Are - I'm glad Spike Jones was able to make the film he wanted. I'm glad Spike Jones' fans are enjoying the film. That said, I think a better title would be Where the Boring Thing Are. A complete waste of $80 million that must have went to new homes and cars for the cast and crew, 'cause I don't see it in the film.

And no...imo.

A 10 is absolute perfection.

I do not believe in absolute perfection.

Cinematography, acting, story...all go in to making a movie perfect.

Star Wars? Loved the movie...one of my all-time favorites, and I might have given it a ten when I was 13, but now things like the poor acting and the special effects keep me from giving it a perfect score.

And I see things in EVERY movie that I have ever watched.

Just to illustrate my point of view, I'll go over a couple of the "10s" listed above.

Shawshank Redemption - I absolutely LOVED the movie. I am a Stephen King fan, I am a Morgan Freeman fan from WAY back in the Easy Reader days(Edit - for anyone who is not familiar with Morgan Freeman's COOLEST work - EasyReader (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_PuAqRQLKA)). The cinematography was excellent, acting...great, and the story was very good. But the story was not GREAT. The story did not carry a message that was really deep to me. It was a good mesage, but not a great message.

The Dark Night - Another great movie. Great cinematography, but the acting (other than Heath Ledger) was not GREAT. It was very good, but not GREAT. And the story. Come on, it was a comic book made movie. It was a simple cops-n-robbers action flick, it just had some very cool twists and turns like Dent's story. No super deep message there. Just "stay in school and don't do drugs or get involved with gangs. Not real original.

Schindler's List - Likely to be one of the closest movies in history to be a "10" for me. I would give it a 9.9 with the only down side to me being how the story slowed a little from time-to-time.

Another that comes very close for me is Jacob's Ladder. The two things that pulled that movie down for me were the effects for the demons and a small amount of Culkin's acting...even though he was young.

I don't just throw "10s" around to any movie that I like enough to see over and over again. As I mentioned before, 10 is perfection and I do not believe in perfection.

To each his own. That is a lot of BS to me.

I rank movies this way.

It is either:

Good and not entertaining
Not good and entertaining
Not good and not entertaining
Good and entertaining

Anything that falls into the last category is a 10 in my eyes. No movie is EVER perfect so I could never base a 10 on it being perfect because that is just not possible. If it is a damn good film and it was entertaining..(the whole reason for film) then it is a 10 to me.

That is correct (and I changed the score to a 9.5)

No

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, and no.

I am a Stephen King fan, I am a Morgan Freeman fan from WAY back in the Easy Reader days. The cinematography was excellent, acting...great, and the story was very good. But the story was not GREAT. The story did not carry a message that was really deep to me. The human actors were really wooden
The Dialog was not great, I even found it unintentionally funny in some places, but
The Werewolf looked great and the few attack scenes were really well done.
And last but not least, Primo the dog who played Thor was Awesome.
It would make a good double bill with Silver Bullet

Yea that's Kinda how I do it, I look at a 10/10 as being the movie was as enjoyable as possible and was well done, not perfection because I doubt there will ever be an absolute perfect movie in my lifetime, I hope there will be but probably not.

Drag Me to Hell. Damn I'm on a movie high tonight. What's next? Not sure. Hmmm what to say about this movie. Is this the same guy that made what I think to be crap fests such as Evil Dead and Army of Darkness. Yes don't flame me too much but I hated thoses movies. However, I am always willing to give multiple chances. Some things are not for everyone.

I didn't like it. It was like Deliverance meets the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Plus I wanted almost every character to die. Bad casting, nothing we haven't seen over and over again in past films. Good concept with "meh" execution. Not good enough for me. 4/10.
