I think my rating for this movie gets lower every year. LOL!

Have you watched Kairo? I don't scare easily these days but there's a scene in Kairo that downright freaked me out. Some of the movie's Japanese to English translation is hilarious, too.

Justified the complete series: 10/10

Iíve been going through the entire Justified series that I had never seen before and finally finished up this weekend. What a great show. The first surprise I had with the show is how ďnormalĒ it is. From everything I had heard about it before, I was preparing myself for some really intense, hardcore, gritty, violent, depressing show. But I was pleasantly surprised at how (like I said) normal it was with tons of really witty humor. It just has a little more graphic violence every once in a while, and a lot of time with some dark humor attached to it, and some cursing. The characters were all so incredible, and some really clever plotting throughout the seasons. Iíve been praising it to my family and friends all these months that Iíve been watching it, and now I think Iím just going to get the box sets to a couple of my friends for the holidays.

The worst part was watching the last couple of episodes, knowing that that was the end! :(

Wonder Woman 7.8/10 Rewatch value 5/10

Almost great. Felt like a great war film with Wonder Woman in it. Gal was annoying in parts...The accents annoyed me from all the Amazons......

The entire beginning was the worst part, after the get to the front the film got interesting. Knew who the "bad guy" was front the get go....

Pine was really good and stole the film from Gal. Some of the action scenes went on too long. Overall a fun film......rewatch value?

I have not seen the original Japanese version. I know what you mean. Shin Godzilla in the Japanese soundtrack and English sub made me enjoy the movie a lot more because of the humorous translations. :lol

Blade Runner 2 Electric Bugaloo: 7.5/10

Will take a lot of time to fully process this thing, and my ultimate review may have this go up or down. Gorgeous film, extremely well shot and acted, and it felt like a nice extension of the original film. But, it wasn't totally fulfilling to me. I'm really glad films like this can still be made, though. And I fear the ticket sales of this one will make these less likely in the future.

This and Mad Max prove that you can go home again, though, and can make it worthwhile. Both are defying convention in this sense.

TBH, the third act of the original is pretty boring too.
But yeah, they could film it better, with more dark tones and a bit less comedy.

As much as I don't care for the sequel and it's ham-fisted action comedy direction, at least its finale felt big and emotional.

Short Spoiler free Review:

Its hard to remember a solid Sci Fi story like this in recent memory. This is hard Sci Fi.......not shoot em up, feel good, fun soft style type of film. For that reason it will most likely fail at the box office, then find its legs later on Netflix or Amazon. Much like the first film. This film spends alot of time setting up mood, and atmosphere, as well as dealing with character reactions to situations.

it is a STUNNING film to watch...beautiful and memorizing. Add to that an original score that invokes the first film and puts a fine point on the mood and tension. The acting is perfect and quite good at drawing you into what is a very cerebral film. Honestly it should be up for several academy awards, I would even say it has a shot at best picture, although Sci-fi will never win that category.

It reminds me of Silence of the Lambs in a way. The dialogue is riveting, with great scenes between great actors, as well as quite a few scenes where each actor gets the spotlight to themselves for quite a bit f time. It also has very little action, like Silence of the Lambs......its a talking movie, a thinking movie. thats not to say the action is non existent, when they turn the action on...once an hour, its pretty great.

I unfortunately have a knack of seeing the how to plot will play out for most films before the films is a 1/4 done...I assumed that I had this one figured out as well.....I was dead wrong, and never been happier to be so. While not a complicated plot it does take a few unexpected turns , which I did not see coming.

I cannot say enough about the cinematography, sets or visuals. They are amazing. Watching this film reminds the movie goer what a film CAN be, if shot with an artist eye, talent and a desire to make a statement with a story. It was refreshing to see a director take his time with shots, willing to add a few extra seconds to make his point about the characters or locations.....this alone makes this film a cut above the rest.

All this said......most people will hate it.....that will say its slow, boring , not enough action.......and thank God for that. This will join a long line of stellar films most people will not understand, or be comfortable watching......like Fight Club, V for Vendetta, Children of Men......

It gave me great satisfaction so see some studios still will let a hard core Sci Fi, cerebral film live.....Dean V did an amazing job.......

Yeah I liked it that much. Best film in recent memory.

It's a good movie. Don't get me wrong. Very campy, humorous, lots of gore, some great lines too... "We got this! We got this by the @ss!" :lol
It's just my taste in zombie movies has changed. I like them now to be darker, a little more gritty. I like zombie movies that take themselves more seriously...and no, The Walking Dead has nothing to do with this.
Just look at Romero's Night of the Living Dead. That was his masterpiece.
I know he did this one too but I could really do without too much of the humor.

Ah, I understand. :)
It's more about you bein' bent by the current vision of cinema and entertainment in general. That's always an issue. And that's why we get movies like "Dawn of the Dead" and "Blade Runner 2049" whose authors want to shake the foundations of current generation and stagnation of perception. That's why the original DotD is great - Romero went into different direction because the time and the subject were different too. And that's why Snyder's "remake" is puke made for brainless masses to enjoy.

Except I didn't follow the masses. I follow my heart.
Take 30 Days of Night for example. That was a different direction for vampire movies. It was dark, gritty, raw.
Their behavior was very animalistic. They were somewhat Barbaric in that they traveled only to feed and killed because of necessitation. There was no comedy. There was no war with Lycans. No well-funded, gun-toting vampires, wearing nice clothes. That's Anne Rice garbage.

This is what I enjoy watching when I sit down and want to be scared. If I'm looking for slapstick horror I'll look to the Evil Dead movies. That's so much better than Dawn of the Dead. Hell, it's not even close. Evil Dead is both scarier and funnier.

By younger I mean younger when you first see it... has more of an impact if you saw it before seeing any other zombie films

If you have not seen Savini's remake of "Night" it's worth a watch.

Plus for the majority of the film , Dawn was not meant to be a comedy....

It has good action scenes and lots of special effects, but the problem I have with it is that they called it "The Mummy". I'm a huge Universal Horror Classic Monsters fan and the Mummy it is not.
But it's all good. Lots of people like it. For me, I'll continue to watch the '32 Mummy and the sequels that spawned in the 40's.

Justified is one of my favorite shows. All the characters have flaws and layers that really add to the overall story. Liked how they were able to actually do a finale as so many shows don't get that anymore. Glad you liked it. Raylan and Boyd had great chemistry on screen as friends or enemies.

RANT TIME~
What a steaming pile this film was......I really cannot believe its an Alien film at all..... much like Prometheus, which at least had the good sense to keep the word Alien out of its title.

The completely ridicules premise of the film, including the entire idea of the genesis of the full Alien is laughably bad. It basically Frankenstein,,, Man creates new life, new life creates monster that destroys the creator....YAWN. With all the possible routes of story to take, including keeping the genesis of the Aliens a mystery...why go this route? Why shoulod humans have had any influence or part of the Alien genesis? And what the hell was all that stuff about David killing of the Engineers?

The "special effects" were terrible. The Alien looked like a bad Syfy movie version, hell the CGI masking in ALIEN 3 looked better than this. Even the CGI space ships looked terrible.

The totally predictable and lackluster Alien "fight" at the end was perhaps the most boring anticlimactic ending to a sci Fi film I have ever seen....

Its time for them to stop making these sequels. They get worse and worse each film.....what truly remarkable is the amount of money spent on this crappy movie.
What is worse is ALL THE GREAT REVIEWS THIS GOT FROM MAJOR REVIEWERS....all I can say is the must have been paid off.
RANT END~

Give me that money and I will make an Alien film that would be way better than the last 3 we got.

Transformers The Last Knight:7.5 The best of the series, surpassing the first offering. The nods to the cartoon are plenty to finally make me happy, but unfortunately the Humans still play to large of a pivotal role to reach very good status. Didn't think I would like the movie based on previous experiences, but as a devoted G1 cartoon fan that remembers those cartoons(King Arthur & The Ultimate Doom) & the original animated movie(Hot Rod, Unicron), there were enough similarities to keep me interested. The pace was quick, but didn't feel overly rushed & the amount of (actually) good actors in this film kept it working. Overall I enjoyed it more than any in the previous series & regret not seeing it in the theaters with my son(also G1 raised). Overall:Michael Bay's second best film, after the Rock for me & made me reverse course & actually hope this series continues. Flame away lol I enjoyed the first GI Joe Movie as well.

Get Out: 6.5/10

It was good, but I think it was overhyped. I wasn’t expecting a masterpiece, but it was a little bit more shallow than I thought it would be based on the initial reviews and reactions. I thought it would be a little more incisive or clever in its whole racial social commentary thing, but it really didn’t amount to much. But I think maybe people and critics overstated that aspect of the movie.

Solid through and through. Well made, reasonably good acting, good kills. The opening scene is great. Indeed..

Oh, wait! Did I forget The Howling?

Never saw Ginger Snaps or Dog Soldiers, so maybe I'm missing out.

Silver Bullet I liked when it came out, but I have trouble watching anything starring a Corey nowadays.

Both definitely worthy werewolf films.

Not AWIL, but decent

Friday the 13th part 6: 8/10

May go slightly over the top with the goofy humor now and again (I think of NamMagazine now whenever I see the paintball guys :lol ), but possibly the pinnacle of all the Friday the 13th movies in terms of technical execution. I have a softer spot for parts 3 and 4, but this movie does what it sets out to do about as well as any slasher movie (Maniac probably beats it out, but no shame in that).

That was a great scene. Overall the movie felt thin to me. I hated all the 90's horror movies when they were released so they don't have the same nostalgic value to me as 80's movies do.

Yup exactly. Like they had a good story....but trimmed it down somehow....there was not a lot of depth.
It feel short...not sure of the runtime....

Probably would have been better without the kid subplot......

The kid subplot would've led to teenage debauchery had it been a traditional 80's slasher. This movie couldn't even muster any of the classic elements that make a slasher movie entertaining, well other than a few okay kills. The 90's were so lame for horror. So sanitized.

After multiple viewings there is no devaluation or fatigue, instead it only becomes more resonant and haunting and seeps into your consciousness.

Very uneven film, fluctuating between semi-interesting, eye-rolling, and flat out annoying with way too much of the latter two. I remember being conflicted about this film when it first came out and it's problems have only been magnified with time. I don't see myself revisiting it ever again.

Monster Squad. A 80s mashup of Dracula ,wolfman, the mummy , the creature from the black lagoon and Frankenstein lol. A quick cheesy fun one give a 5 for the kids to watch.

Death becomes her. Bruce willis , Meryle Streep, Goldie Hawn as undead woman cheesy comedy /horror give a 5.

It not a 1/10.....drama queens.....

Its very atmospheric and moody......the story is good.....

But its not an action film.....its a slow burn , dark and deliberate....

I think its a solid 6 or 7......
