The Happening - 1/10

Without doubt one of the worst movies I've seen in years. Bad dialog, bad directing, bad acting...bad everything. The premiss was interesting but went nowhere, and just about everyone was miscast. Definitely Shyamalan's worst movie. I'm glad I didn't pay to see this in the theaters. Can I give it any lower praise?

Not to be excessively hostile ... but, I must disagree. 2/10 max. I'd rather watch Superman IV twice than watch that crapfest again. I might actually prefer "Sweet November" (a terrible snooze-fest of a movie) because, at least I can laugh at a dying hippie.

I don't care much for "horror" movies (usually because they're not scary) ... but my wife loves them, and even she thought MBV3D was retarded.

I agree. Supposedly the American remake is going to stick closer to the book. I was worried they'd turn it into a teeny bopper movie, but from the first posters it looks like they stuck with children in the leads and my hopes are getting slightly elevated.

Thank goodness if the American remake will adhere even closer to the book. I thought the film captured the essence of the book while deviating just enough in compromise (because of the limitations of film time) to be reasonable.

The swedish film and the book had a definite euro flair and sensibility that I doubt the American remake can capture though.

7/10

I had fun, the younger family kids I took to see it had fun, which is the main reason I went to see it. That's all that matters to me with a film like this.

I'm glad I'm not familiar with G.I. Joe (except the influence it has had on modern action figures and cartoons), because I'm sure I might have disliked the film if I was familiar with the franchise.

The Premise is thin but what save the movie is Paul Rudd and Jason Segel. It's the moments they have together that make the Movie. I loved it. And it has Lou Ferrigno :lol

But if you were just watching it for the plot I can some what understand.

Yeah, I saw it when it was on the big screen. Formulaic, maybe, but you're watching the film for the performances and gags, not the plot (which is practically telegraphed within the first 15 minutes).

I gave it a 7/10 then.

6.5-7/10 for me. Me and my wife laughed pretty hard at times. The story was nothing special but it had its moments. :D

I agree that the humor in this one was what I liked. The plot is basic to every single love story ever written. I looked beyond the plot and was very pleasantly entertained on this one.

Haha, yea man incredible. Tarantinos obsessed with feet.

The movie is seriously 10/10 right upto the first Vampire, then it loses something. Not because of the vampires, just the writing in general starts to feel a little too week compared to what was going down before.

Truly stunning writing and directing by the master of film, Quentin Tarantino. Reservoir Dogs is my favorite Tarantino film, but 'Basterds' will stand toe to toe with this gem in my DVD collection(or Bluray for that matter) when it's released.

But the thing that struck most people such as my mother(who is German) with amazement, is that Quentin went all out with the authenticity of the German actors, accents, and filming locations. Which is something you don't see in alot of films. What's even funnier is a written scene where Quentin pokes fun of the American actors trying to execute a German accent with an improper dialect. He is a prime example of talent when it comes to making films, and he's a genius for someone who didn't even finish high school. No doubt about it, can't wait to see his next film!

Yeah, not really the actor's fault for how the character was portrayed. I'm sure a lot of it was direction from the director.

Aliens - 10/10

Whedon is great. Watch Angel, or Dollhouse, or Firefly - all brilliant shows. I haven't watched Buffy yet, but I plan to. His biggest talent is writing believable characters, and creating a world where he sets the rules, and doesn't break them when it is convenient to him. As a result, he can pretty throw anything at you, and you will find that it works.

And Aliens rocks!!

It was Alien Resurrection that put me off the guy to be honest and sitting through Buffy sealed the deal. No problem with anyone else liking him, just not a fan of his style is all.

Everything after that is quite different actually. I haven't got around to watching Buffy since it just looks cheesy. But everything else is outstanding. True though, his style isn't for everyone.

24 Season 1 5/5

24 Season 2 5/5

Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (1931) - since it's regarded as a classic I will not bother rating it, but I thought it was OK. The camera work though very advance considering when it was made.

The Asphalt Jungle 5/5 Sterling Hayden and Sam Jaffe are dynamite

Inglorious Basterds - 5/5 Being disappointed with his last couple of QT flicks, this one hit the spot. Great film making.

District 9 - 3/5 Pretty good. Raises plenty of questions (not only regarding the story, but also the films influences (apartheid, post-apartheid, the real District 6, the Sharpeville Massacre etc.). Oh, and the leader of the Nigerian gangsters was hilarious!

If you haven't yet, make sure to watch the documentary "Done the Impossible" - you can get the DVD at amazon - it is BRILLIANT! All about the Firefly story and how it was because of the fans that the movie got made.

And yes, Firefly/Serenity is awesome - I could have watched that show forever.

Oh I know the story well.

There were so many petitions ! I think I signed them all ! LOL.

I wish they would green light another one, but I know that will never happen. Sad too, cause the cast had such chemistry and the story had the right mix of everything for my taster.

The Blu-rays are well done !

Really enjoyable tense film, hadn't seen it since it was in the cinema. Plus this movie was the only thing that stopped me blaming Mostow for poor quality of T3 if he'd injected some of Breakdown's atmosphere into T3 the movie would be all the stronger for it.

Red Dragon is a remake of Manhunter and the prequel to Silence Of The Lambs.

Vantage Point: 7/10 Great opening, then it got a bit too dependent on coļncidences IMO. Still a fun watch though.

Agreed and I like Red Dragon more than Manhunter. It's one of the only Brett Rattner films I really liked. It helps that it was written by the same screenwriter as Silence of the Lambs. I only wish they would have cut Lecter's character down some. The Toothfairy was a strong enough villain that they didn't need so much Lecter. Also the ending that tied to Silence sucked balls.

Still a remake and still not as good. I'd even say that Red Dragon deviated away from the source just as much as Manhunter. The biggest crime of which is making Lecter such a large character when he wasn't. One thing I'll definitely give Red Dragon is Fiennes' Dolarhyde.
