Nice Essay ^^^ but i still like the American version better because i am American and use to my American actors that i'm use to seeing. I can see why some may like original either because they relate to the Foreign version better or just unwilling to except the new version. I couldnt watch original all the way through and like said it's same damn film with little changes like name's changed on character's not here to argue just stated loved the movie n story. I would love a sequel ,we dont get too many perfect Vampire films and story's. No need to argue which is better it's all good just give us more blood.

So threw in this movie called CHRONICLE and from preview it looked like was going to be decent or good. It had some o.k funny parts but if you were blessed with Superpowers and your family member was sick and needed funds so many ways u could get cash with decent power's. In this film no intel at all on these boy wonder's that get the superpowers. I dont know how to rate this except to say its a trainwreck as gets to the end.

Killer Mermaid (aka Nymph) (2014): 3.5/10

I like monster movies and was hoping to find the next guilty pleasure and neither of these delivered. I was particularly fascinated about Killer Mermaid because I'm not aware of any other movie that has made a mermaid the main villain. Every once in a while they'll be depicted as predatory in some throw-away scene like the latest Pirates of the Caribbean but that's it. Well, she was hardly in Killer Mermaid either and the main cast was quite awful.

It's too bad, because the girl who played the actual mermaid did a very good job. She really did come across as some otherworldly and frightening thing hiding in a (half) woman's body. Oh well.

Jupiter Ascending - 6/10 I've been reading a lot of Sumerian mythology related stuff lately, so maybe my peak interest in related topics biased my experience but I found this to be an ok movie, the Wachowskis most likely took the material from someplace else like they always do, it has forced romance, and very uneven performances but it was entertaining to watch without neglecting some cool concepts and messages, which is what most summer blockbusters do nowadays, action was alright, visual effects were good, plot was very interesting imo a lot was abridged because there's obviously potential for a huge mythology but it was all packed in just one movie, I can appreciate leaving the audience to fill in the blanks but in this case it caused the characters and story to feel rushed, not shallow, just rushed, despite that you can still see some glimpses of personality.

Also, ok score.

Fire in the sky - 5/10 Vintij! :duff :lol this did not evoke the slightest feeling of dread of the unknown in me.

Demonic - 0/10 Wan should be ashamed he lend his name to something this ******, it wants to keep the Horror genre at the very bottom.

Spoilers obviously!!!

Furious 7 - 4/10

It started off decent enough but got boring and uninteresting the further it got. The Rock is barely in this one which disappointed my brother quite a bit. Statham is a rather uninteresting bad guy mostly because you know they aren't going to kill off any of the main characters so basically there is no suspense or sense of danger for the cast. None of the car stuff was believable this time around or particularly interesting. Rhonda Rousey getting beat up by michelle rodrigues is bullshyt! Kurt Russel while a small role was pretty good and he was fun to watch. I just feel like Furious 6 ended on a good note with them all getting to go back home at the end, it was a perfect end to the series. Of course they ruined that though. They do a nice tribute to paul at the end though which i liked a lot. Will miss you paul :duff

Jurassic World- 6/10

This movie was BORING! The whole plot of them making this hybrid dinosaur they know nothing about and then it escapes and they chase after it the whole movie. Then they get the brilliant idea to sick raptors on it only to have the raptors turn on them lol. The end is the best part where bryce dallas howard releases a t-rex on it and they fight. The movie really seemed sloppy and rushed to together despite having so long to make it.

Mad Max Fury Road 7/10

I really enjoyed this movie but the ending was a little disappointing. I mean max doesn't kill the bad guy, furiosa does as she is the real main character. Max doesn't really seem like a hero that much though i guess he wasn't much of a big hero in the originals either. There isnt a lot of plot despite being 2 hrs long. Still it didn't feel like a copy/ripoff of the other films which is good, it is similar but does its own thing. The car stunts are really good and exciting. I would recommend this for entertainment value and i hope it gets a sequel some day.

Terminator Genisys 8/10

Really enjoyed this movie despite the bad reviews this got there wasn't one moment i wasn't enjoying it. Arnold was just as great as ever, the new cast was great though i think emilia clarke was really young looking to play sarah. She doesn't disappoint though. There was some great effects for the future war and time travel. I also liked how they created the alternate timelines of 1984 and 2017, kept it from just being the same old go back save sarah, stop judgement day from happening. Skynet turning john into the enemy instead of the hero of mankind was a nice twist/idea as well, something different for a change. I just wish they had really destroyed skynet so the story could end on good note. Instead of that end credit scene where skynet magically survived that explosion. :slap

Still i do recommend TG to any terminator fan.

The Core (end of world film where they have to restart the earth's core, Aaron Eckhart and Hilary Swank) - 6/10

These films are all the exact same, it's hilarious. For some reason I enjoy watching them though. This one has some very dated special effects, the kind of stuff they can do on TV quite easily nowadays, maybe even better. A 2003 film, CG from that era doesn't hold up well.

Anyway, full of cliches that are still being perpetrated by this type of film today. Whatever though, I didn't mind it.

Second watch, after not having seen it for literally a decade. I basically like the movie - great cast, performances & story, but the ending grated on me last time from memory ("swing away Meril"), & I thought I'd feel the same way this time. Not so much it turns out.

It makes sense, given the character's history & Father Mel's constant flashback reminders. The CG alien looks ridiculous, certainly doesn't hold up to today's FX at all. :lol That said, it worked in the shadows, before the big reveal at the end.

Overall, I liked the premise, but early 2000s FX is funny. Amazing how Jurassic Park STILL kicks most FX movies' *** to this day. :lol

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you.

Although I think the animatronics are the best part, I meant the CGI in a few scenes can look the teeeeniest tiny little wonky, nothing bad even for today's standards, which is already impressive, and nothing that will take you out of immersion or distract you the way some movies do today.

I agree, there are a few scenes of CGI in JP1 that look underdeveloped (Brachiosaur sneezing comes to mind) But even with that misstep, it's still the best execution of CGI in film currently... I can't believe it's held this title for over 20 years now.

I literally tapped out 5 minutes in. My girl put it on Netflix, and I half watched/listened to it. What a complete CGI **** fest. Amazing to think a film from 25 years ago is still the best Turtles film ever.

Try telling that to the Gen-Y plebs out there that swear till they're blue in the face that we're wrong. 'The lights are on..'

One of THE worst remakes in the last 50 years.

I've never been a fan of Megan Fox in any capacity. Her movie efforts aside, she has the potential to look attractive, but yeah - too plastic for me.

The Visit - 7/10. Best thing he's done - at least directing - since Unbreakable. Not high art in any way, but a solid story with a decent twist and a nice blend of comedy and horror. He does a good job keeping you guessing too, because you know something's off with those grandparents, but it could just be that their old...at least for the first half of the film. It's interesting how part of you wants to give them the benefit of the doubt - 'maybe it's dementia' - but another part of you knows that something just ain't right. I like how it kinda plays with ideas of social correctness, because the first time grandma acts up you want to say "hey, that's some screwed up stuff right there", but you don't want to seem insensitive, even subconsciously with yourself. Eventually the whole situation becomes obvious, but it builds nicely.

Noah ... 6/10. Finally got around to seeing this during the Epix free preview weekend (heh). Exceedingly weird interpretation of Genesis, with reasonably good acting and cool visuals. Could've been a WHOLE LOT better with just a couple of relatively minor changes ...

(1) Lose the rock monsters. They were weird and unnecessary, and caused a lot more problems with the movie's reception than they were worth. I'm aware the Nephilim ("fallen angels") are Biblical ... but they weren't rock monsters, and didn't help Noah build or protect the Ark. And, having fallen angels (demons, in other words) assist Noah in his task was unnecessary and leaves a very bad taste. Their presence was more bothersome than useful, and put off a lot of believers that saw the movie as mocking the story rather than interpreting it.
(2) Tweak Noah's characterization a bit. I'm fine with the misanthrope angle -- makes sense given what he's seen -- but the near-baby-assassin thing was bizarre and unnecessary. I'm fine with a bit of God-driven 'insanity' ... makes some sense that a lot of people would see him as crazy. But, drifting into genuine murderous insanity, especially given its absence from the source material, is a step too far.
(3) Have 'the Creator' see to the healing of the young girl's infertility rather than Methusela ... to make clear that Noah's misanthropy was his misinterpretation rather than God's will. The way they depicted it, it can be interpreted that humanity's survival was due to Noah disobeying God. That's strange, and counter-Biblical.

Those three relatively minor changes would've completely changed believers' reception of this movie. They were viewed as insulting and disrespectful to the source material. I'm fine with adding 'interpretation', so long as the 'interpretation' isn't contrary to the limited source material that we have on Noah's Genesis story. There was just too much counter-Biblical 'interpretation' in this.

Edge of Tomorrow ... 9/10. Cool cross between Call of Duty, Groundhog Day, and the Matrix. I'm continually surprised at how often I like Tom Cruise's movies despite disliking Cruise.

The Wolf of Wall Street ... 9/10. Another good movie. Interesting story. Entertaining. Well acted. Admirable salesman with less than admirable self-control. Reminded me a bit of The Boiler Room, though from the perspective of the owner rather than a lackey.

The Empire Strikes Back - 10/10

My 6 year old daughter, who has only seen the original Star Wars (and was bored to tears by it) and the Rebels TV show, which she likes, asked to watch one of the movies totally out of the blue. This was a surprise to me, as I had given up after the lukewarm (no pun intended) reception the first movie received. We watched it together and she absolutely LOVED it! She is already begging to watch Jedi tonight.

While I was watching I couldn't help but get wrapped up in it all over again. I haven't watched Empire in years, and it hasn't lost any of it's impact. It is still, for me one of the greatest films ever made. Beautifully shot, edited, natural dialogue, and despite what others say, quite well acted.i never understood the complaint that the acting was bad, I could not imagine scenes like those between Ford and Fisher feeling anymore natural and effortless than they are in this film. What a remarkable film!

Solid Stallone movie - classic 80s fare. Never seen it before, & I was really pleasantly surprised. Good cast & performances, & real sense of dread & hopelessness re. In Bruges - 89/100

I love this film! Firstly, I can understand how it can be outrageous with some of the characters, and some specific scenes like Ken and the Tower or Harry Waters in general. I feel some of the allusions and pop culture references were a bit too strong or forced, but didn't take away too much from me. It's witty and funny especially the **** Ken and Ray talk about. The music seemed fitting, and the huge spectrum of emotion conveyed in weather and lighting was fantastic. One thing that took a lot from me was Chloe. I just couldn't get into her character (despite being the more normal character [still a bit of a stretch though] in comparison to the guys). A good cast overall and fun movie. I"ll probably be buying this one too.

The Addams Family - 81/100

I don't actually know anything about the Addams family. Growing up I only really watched and stayed with 4 shows: Dragonball Z, Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: Animated Series, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So I've never known any character of the Addams Family, but I can say I am aware of some of the names. Knowing the cast list and the Gothic macabre humor; I had a blast with it. Though I admit that there really is no plot, but I felt it was still a witty movie to display the array of characters. I do wish I'd known more or saw more anything related to this series, but I'm glad I started it at least. Fun way to start the Halloween movie line up.

Heh, yeah, we have DAD to thank for Casino Royale turning out the way it did. Had Brosnan's sequels been as solid as Goldeneye was, they wouldn't have recast or rebooted the series.

I like Goldeneye a lot. I don't hate TND or TWINE. They're not great but they're watchable. DAD is as bad as Bond gets. I am not a Moore fan but I'll acknowledge the few of his I've seen are probably better movies. I do like that fencing scene though!

Maze runner scorch trials i didnt expect to like this one but I'm hooked and if like Walking dead will like this one. I liked actor little finger from Game of thrones in this that plays another pimp sort of boss. Anyway kinda like a sped up story of walking dead give it a 7.

Black Mass 6/10. Got to see Black Mass for free the other day. Story was really good and is what saved the movie from being a disaster, but Depp was too much like a caricature. I really tried to get into it but couldn't get past the makeup and those damn weird eyes. There wasn't a single moment in the film when he was on screen that I forgot it was Depp in makeup. I kept thinking that if Jack Nicholson would have reprised the role from The Departed it would have been much better. Also, Cumberbatch's Boston accent was horrible, which is too bad because I really like him normally but every time he was on screen I kept asking "Why did they get him for this film?"

After the disappointing season 5, I have revisited (most of) the first four seasons. I laughed just as hard at the stuff I found hilarious the first time around. There were even a few sketches I remember falling flat that I found myself laughing at.

Dr. No - 93/100

Time to start my annual run of James Bond films during the month of October, also kind of nice considering it will line up nicely with SPECTRE to release next month.

So the film, I think what gets me the most in this film, is the scenery. I absolutely love the look of Crab Key. It just has so much vibrant scenes, like the intro of Honey or when they are running near the land mines with Quarrel and Honey. Also, Honey; I absolutely love her. She's probably my favorite Bond girl. To be fair Carrie Fisher, Ursula Andress, and Ann Margret were all childhood crushes I had. But even so, I am in love with her character as well, the story when she told about killing her attacker with a female black widow. The way she kind of asks if she did okay by that; while many view it ditzy, I think if a woman with some sort of innocence of the world. Something we hardly get in films, or we do get them but always made to be like a damsel or so. In the scene when she is holding Bond's hand and going to see Dr. No and she says, "It's nice to know your hands are sweating", with Bond replying, "I'm scared too". It's a moment where both are strong as characters, braving over their fears of what's to possibly come. I could keep going on and on, her love for her father, her business with the shells, her stance on why Bond had to kill the lone wandering guard. She wasn't really made as a nuisance to Bond's survival or just overall annoying.

What I had to deduct was kind of the slacking of character build up or just the loss of character. For example I find it kind of poor how Bond and Quarrel are fighting and Leiter comes in saying, oh ****; we're all a team here. Then Bond and Quarrel are all like, "Ah ****, my bad brother. We cool". I think it could have been a bit more smoother. Then you have Quarrel's downfall. I found it very short and just like a cop out. Then you have Bond and Ryder on the boat at the end taking in their attraction and no sort of grief for Quarrel. I get the point of being a 00 slightly requires a control of emotions, but the writing could have made some sort of notion or something.

Music was okay. Nothing extraordinary, but I guess it follows the tone of the setting. What it doesn't really fit is in the story; and I don't know how many I could really take listening to 4 different covers of "Underneath the Mango Tree". But sound effects weren't bad especially for a 53 year old film. Opening credits also weren't too shabby, didn't really follow a method, but just a mood conveyed of ecstasy.

Dr. No as a character was okay, not a fan of how they made him seem like this all calculating bastard. It's little stupid phrases like when Bond and Ryder are checking the aquarium and he makes a note of how much it cost, and that was what Bond was thinking. Maybe it's just me, I normally think how long something took to make, and much later the cost of it; but that's just me. Another thing that bothered me is why he had an assumption Bond would join SPECTRE. I mean it just seems lazy, then you have the brawl between the two. Dear God, how is a guy with literally iron fists incapable of taking down Bond. His downfall was just too quick, but makes sense as you can't really expect Bond to last long in a battle after being beaten and flushed down a radiation pipe cooler. Lastly, his vengeance seems like something of a little *****. Who cares if neither Eastern or Western powers want your work, I can understand getting shot down as insulting, but to lead to massive slaughter seems a bit extreme. But can't have villains be rational now in days, I suppose.

Connery is just a great Bond, always get a kick from him. Very suave, even still now when you could compare him to the other Bonds. Not going to go into too much detail, but overall still a good film. I love starting off this marathon especially with such a kickass first film.

Fantastic B-Movie schlock from the director who gave us Commando. Starring Dolph Lungdren as the world's most physically-imposing weeaboo and Brandon Lee as a half-Japanese police officer with absolutely no knowledge of Japan.

Loses .1 of a point for clearly running out of money before the last ten minutes or so of the film. Also a sad glimpse into what could have been, as Brandon Lee steals almost every scene he's in.

Yup. Great trilogy of films. I'd probably give it a 9. The sequels might be slightly better. I saw Legacy once. I thought introducing a new character was the right direction for the franchise as Bourne's arc is perfectly concluded in Ultimatum. But it fell flat. I can hardly remember a thing from it to be honest.

Did I hear a fifth one starring Damon was happening?

I've not read the books yet, are they Clancy-esque? I'm sure I'll love them when I read them.

The sequels are even more impressive if you're telling me they go on their own instead of being based on the book.

I actually haven't read them. All I know is

Marie doesn't die.

So the course of the sequels is dramatically changed. I agree for being original stories they did a great job.

Also I think only the first three are by Robert Ludlum. I think Legacy, for example, takes place a decade or two after the events of three original books and still stars Bourne as the protagonist, not Jeremy Renner.
