Transformers: Age of Extinction

I swear to God, I had more fun cleaning toilets than watching this.

0/5.

When you go to see a Michael Bay movie, you have to leave logic and common sense behind, and just take it for what it is: enjoy the 'splosions, slutty women, corny humor, and... did I mention explosions? You're just not going to get a thought-provoking, and meaningful experience with a Bay flick. But, what you will get is a thrill-ride that appeals to that stupid 10 year old that's stuck in your subconscious. To both his credit and to his disservice, The Bay is a master of his art form :lol.

Age of Extinction was particularly bad because of the overuse of action and explosions. It was just hours of cgi action scenes. They lose their impact after a while. I do enjoy the other Transformer movies though for the reasons you stated, especially the first one.

I find the first two Despicable Me films to be mildly amusing and even think the minions themselves have a certain charm to them. Didn't care for this new one at all though. Unbreakable - 7/10

I've never seen this one before. It may be Shyamalan's best. That's not saying much but I genuinely enjoyed this throughout and the twist was subtle enough not to make the whole thing fall apart in the end. The ending text before the credits telling the audience the fate of the characters was cheesy and dumb and should have been removed. But that's a minor quibble.

I totally agree with you about the end text, it was unnecessary and just detracted from the story. They could have ended it as is (without the text) or simply showed a group of police cars pulling up to SLJ's house as Willis walked away.

Trainwreck - 5/10 it's not a comedy, it's a drama, the comedy bits were better delivered by everybody other than Amy Schumer, John Cena was by far the best part of the entire movie, he can totally play as Shazam, and I'm not even into wrestling or JC memes.

Amy Schumer in her typical female comedian routine: lol my vajayna amirite? I'm whoring around lmao. Overall it's the same movie of a selfish ******* learning to not be a selfish ******* but with a girl instead, but when Amy gets over her usual routine she's actually a character with a nice development, unfortunately the whole movie feels pointless and dumb, just a bunch of 1st world problems: the movie. It makes me think how are shows like 2 and a half-men so stigmatized by now (as it should be) but somehow this is praised by the "critics", wtf is wrong with you "critics"? Tsk, call me when Maria Bamford makes a movie.

her ****ing dad dies and she goes and makes a stand up routine out of it ffs

Goodnight Mommy - 6/10 Kinda boring, but it does keep you wondering wtf is going on and does a great job directing you and misdirecting you around, at least I came up with a couple theories, none of which were correct :lol and the climax is kinda satisfying because of the cast, you don't see it coming, at least I didn't, even when it was right in front of me.

It has it's fair share of cliches which are eye rolling.

I actually didn't know she was SJW, she's racist in her routines and stuff, and in the movie there are one or two racist and homophobic jokes, none of which were funny of course, I like the offensive jokes as much as anyone but those were just too easy.

Quite possibly the worst sequel I've ever seen. But unlike some other stinkers, this does nothing to the greatness of the original and I'm under the impression these movies don't really connect with one another so I can press on to what I assume are better movies. The Shining 8/10- I seen parts of this movie a bunch of times, but never got to see the whole thing. I really enjoyed it! I read that there's a lot of historical allusions in the movie with the various ghost imagery, but I wasn't too familiar with all of them. Also, I'm not sure I bought Jack Nicholson's transition. I know he already had a lot of inclinations towards snapping because of his alcoholism and stress, but I wish it was a bit more natural. I know a lot of people put this as their favorite horror film, and I will say it's now definitely one of my favorites. Nothing has come close to "Repulsion" and "Rosemary's Baby for me though.

X-Men Days of Future Past 4/10- I enjoyed this when it was in theaters, and was waiting for the Rogue cut to watch it again. I read that it wasn't so good, so I decided to just stick with the original. The cast and directing are great, but I don't care for the story or characters. I hate how this franchise dumps a bunch of avatars with superheros and, at least for me, gives the impression that we should care at all for them. Heck, in just one line the MCU gives a nobody like Maria Hill more character and personality than the folks here. The fact that I can remember her name says something! They don't let me care about the future, and since those characters still exist, I don't have a sense of urgency—but I guess that's why I don't like time travel. The airplane "Where were you, Charles?" is still my all time favorite scene in a Marvel film! I rewound the film twice in the middle of watching because I love it so much! I'm so glad that Fassbender and Mcavoy love their characters, because I think they are fantastic. However, I didn't enjoy anything else. The plot revolves around Mystique, who was the main problem with the last film. It's just a big whiners' fest. I had hopes for the next film, but I saw again that she's whining about being hunted again. I'm out! The last third of the Wolverine movie was lousy, but I really like a lot of that movie. Then I saw the new poster, and it seems like they're just appeal to the emo twelve year olds on facebook thinking they're cool or whatever with their middle fingers. Deadpool, I was stoked for, but that looks like it's for 10 years that just walked out of sex ed. I hope I'm wrong, but these movies seem like they're made with a juvenile mentality of what makes something adult. I'm sorry for ranting.

It's a really good monster movie, has well developed characters, fights are awesome, in my 1st viewing in the cinema I didn't like the early cuts from the fights, but this time around I liked them, fantastic tension build up, and when they finally go all out in the end is really satisfying.

People don't like soldier boy but he was a good character, they all are, I would have liked that they didn't killed Heisenberg though, he was a great character, overall I liked that the movie maintained mostly a human perspective, that's what I want in these types of movies, I want the sense of scale that comes from looking at these creatures from below, from ground level like the ants we are.

I didn't notice that it has quite a tight plot, and the music, the music is fantastic as well as the sound.

If your mind works in auto-dissection mode while watching films (like mine) then you should watch this one. But watch online (like I did) if you don't like when a huge ass distributor shamelessly lied about the quality of their product instead of just canceling it.

My mind doesn't trigger dissection mode in 1st viewings most of the time, unless the movie is really bad, so yeah, streaming it is :lol But I'll wait for better quality then.

Jurassic World: 7/10

American Sniper: 7.5/10

Kingsman: The Secret Service: 8/10

It was better than Jurass Whiirl at least.
It was the other way around for me, I gave JW a 2, I thought the concepts of JW were dumb but there were some things here and there that made me gave it those 2 points.

TG had some fanfic-level concepts I liked, but there was nothing in the execution of anything in that movie that was redeemable imo, and I do mean nothing, at any level. I didn't even want to watch it, I just watched it in case I ever needed an opinion on the movie I could have an informed one out of respect for the "franchise" I love so much.

It's funny, most of these "franchises" we love are completely deformed at this point, all of them have more bad ones than good ones, we only have the original movies of each franchise to console us.

:lol

This is a sad era we're living in indeed.

I think as far as blockbusters go it's a good era, it's the needless and endless rape of classics what makes me sad.

The Exorcist was nominated for all the big categories (Picture, Director, Actress, Supporting Actor and Actress) but lost to The Sting. It still won Best Adapted Screenplay.

Red Dragon. 9/10. Very impressed. As good as the original, in my opinion.

300: Rise of the Empire. 7.5/10. The lead wasn't quite as compelling as Leonidas, but it was interesting to see the same battle from the perspective of a less war-obsessed culture. Also, a bit too chick-heavy. I actually liked the villain-girl ... but I don't buy Leonidas's wife leading anyone into battle; or Spartans following a woman into battle, for that matter. Made for a bit of a lackluster ending. It'd be cool to see a chronological cut of both movies together.

American Hustle. 8/10. Not my favorite. But watchable. Might need to see it another time. Christian Bale is a chameleon.

It was interesting to see how raw the animation was by today's standards. You'd never notice the issues when it first came out but after being subjected to this animation style since its release, you can't help but notice many dated elements. That said, the animation was revolutionary for its time and even if it's a bit rough around your edges it holds up well and the characters and story are unforgettable.

I really liked the first one and I loved how they jumped ahead in time in this one but yeah, lackluster and forgettable.

Ex Machina - 8/10

Great movie. I don't think I'd be in a rush to see it again but would like to revisit it some day. I loved Ava's design!

July 1, 2016. Those movies are super cheap to make and relative to their budgets, they rack up big money. First one had a budget of 3 million and made close to 90 million worldwide. The sequel was made for 9 million and made over 100 million worldwide.

First, Let Me In isn't a remake. It's another adaptation of the book, and includes things I thought were far more important to the story than the first adaptation. And sorry, but the entire second film was superior - no contest.

Not even close, for starters it was a remake clearly based on the original as it's shallow and doesn't have the same foundation the original has, the original was an abridged version of the novel to begin with but it had all sorts of details and nods acknowledging the backstory and mythology of the novel, the remake doesn't, it's missing that, and in that, it turns into a more shallow attempt leaning towards Twilight territory, not that it comes close to that.

The remake is too Americanized, the visuals aren't bad but they aren't as slick, lonely and cold as in the original's, the original's soundtrack is more eerie and nostalgic, its sound is miles better too, characters are more real as the performances and delivery in the original are very natural, vulnerable and believable, the remake's is too over-dramatized and poorly delivered in comparison, as it's often the case with American remakes, and no less important, the characters were better cast in the original, period, Eli fits the book's description to a tee.

I'm not a "the originals are better" or "the books is better" reactionary, there have been cases where the American or the International versions are better than the foreign ones, fewer but they exist, like the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo international version, that wasn't a remake, that one was based on the novel directly, it made changes and adaptations that made sense, it had a way better cast than the original, better everything and it was overall a better movie because Fincher is a way better director than Niels Arden Oplev.

But this isn't the case, in this case the original is superior in every way.

highlander1
08-26-2015, 02:48 PM
Nice Essay ^^^ but i still like the American version better because i am American and use to my American actors that i'm use to seeing. I can see why some may like original either because they relate to the Foreign version better or just unwilling to except the new version. I couldnt watch original all the way through and like said it's same damn film with little changes like name's changed on character's not here to argue just stated loved the movie n story. I would love a sequel ,we dont get too many perfect Vampire films and story's. No need to argue which is better it's all good just give us more blood.

GasparZizou
08-26-2015, 03:06 PM
Nice meme ^^^ I just read why many fantastic foreign movies get bad remakes and will continue to do so right there, thank you for that.

The original is regarded as superior by most, not some, some like the remake better, I'm not unwilling to accept remakes, like I said, I liked the "remake" of Dragon Tattoo Girl better, I also think if they combined the original Carrie with the remake it would be a perfect adaptation... But Let the right one in is superior in this case, and the changes were little bit bigger than just little, mostly details, but details of importance that add identity to the story.

No need to argue? U lost m8?

Fair enough, you should read the book if you haven't already, it's, well, better :lol or at the very least very complementary without over explaining things.

Also, there's is sequel book called Let the old dreams die, I have it but it's been collecting dust for ages, I have to get around to read it.

Personally, I don't need a sequel movie.

I really enjoyed "Let Me In", but I heard "Let the Right One In" is amazing! I always check out the original of a movie that I like (after finding out it was a re-make), since they're usually much better. Scareface is the big exception that I can think of.

How did you guys feel about Scorsese's "Cape Fear" re-make? Scorsese is my favorite director after Hitchcock, but I think he went too over the top with that one.

The Judge Robert Duvall ,Robert Downey jr. A lot of great Cast along wth Billy bob Thorton all can say this movie is very deep n good. Robert Duvall n Downey do a very good job on doing what they do. A hi price lawyer come's home 4 a funeral to deal with a broken ties of old famiily and things get complicated 4 Downey before leaving that's all c an say with out spoiling enjoyed very much give it a 7.

1 more Robert Duvall movie with James Franco i watched a while back called WILD Horses alsi highly recommend n give a 7. also

Then Movie Jessabelle started o.k but just got worse by every scene . Just skip this horror movie it's bad.
