It was good. Much better than the first one which I gave a 5/10. I still don't see much character development, at least not enough for me to care about any of them like in the LOTR trilogy.

And I didn't like the elf/elf/dwarf love triangle at all. Sheeesh. :monkey4

The Man from Beijing - 6/10

Another Swedish film. This time it's about a judge whose entire family (immediate and extended) is systematically wiped out overnight by an unknown assailant.

It's a very long film at 3 hours 30 minutes, and the plot takes a while to build. Also, there are no hot girls like Noomi this time around :lol.

This one's pretty good. It's about a professional art thief who works at a major technology company in Norway. When a business deal doesn't work out, he suddenly finds himself on the run. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (aka. Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones) acts as the villain - and he does such a fantastic job :lol.

Was never a Captain America fan, but I wasn't deliberately not a fan either. I just didn't make it my business to read any of his comics or watch any cartoon/show/previous film attempt. Well, at the very least, Tiana from The Princess and the Frog will be remembered as the first black Disney Princess :D And I loved the return to hand drawn animation, Disney needs to make more of those.

It's shame you didn't enjoy Bolt , TPATF, or Tangled. I thought they were all so entertaining and well made. Some of the best Disney movies don't have princesses in them (Lion King and Pinocchio I'm looking at you!).

Starting the Chronicles of Riddick trilogy today. Never seen any of them before.

Pitch Black - 7/10

From what I have seen of these films, I was expecting a Sci Fi Action/War type of affair. Didn't realise the first movie was almost a horror. Enjoyed it though!

Indeed. Put anything in space or in a spaceship and all of a sudden, it's sci-fi. :lol

Man of Steel - 5/10 I dislike the entire opening on Krypton because rather than feeling original it just feels like a modern version of the Marlon Brando stuff playing out with little lifts from every imaginable other sci-fi of the past 10 years. The Matrix nanoprobe things forming shapes and grabby claws, and Matrix baby fields with robot spider pickers, the Avatar flying ridable beasts, the Codex, Zod looks like he got all his gun ships from the Republic wholesale after the Clone Wars... Lois is also really forced into most of her scenes and Costner is at his least likable ever. I did like Cavill and the action minus some of the more lame scenes like the gravity stopping just one pound away from killing Perry. It's really shocking watching Metropolis get destroyed and not in a good way. Not even in a quick and over way like Watchmen it feels cringeworthy constantly thinking how many people would be getting killed when so many buildings are collapsing with no warning. When I watch the finale of the Avengers it feels funner, here it feels like your watching out of morbid curiousity the way you put on a big news story where lots of people are in danger, your just worried. :lol It just didn't feel right.

Everything you wrote and you forgot the most important reasons why is was terrible. Horrible dialogue, terribly written, some extremely flat performances. Cavill was the only one I felt that tried.

This movie has a great cast of actors yet the direction and writing made everyone seem like
Amateurs.

The action was okay but I agree you that the avengers final battle was much more fun(still think its a poor movie as well).

Oh and I forgot, this movie felt like a final destination sequel. I felt like death was chasing Clark is whole life. Seriously he should have been dead by natural disasters like 3 times before he even became a man.

2013 was a terrible year for superhero movies.

Killing them Softly was great!!!!! It shows a different perspective of the mob. And how the mob acts when in a recession. These guys truly think they are decent men, everything they do is just business. And then throw in the political allegory, it is truly one of the best films I ever seen. Scoot Mcnairy and Ben Mendelsohn were incredible. And that ending, is one of the best I ever seen. I think you will enjoy it more every time you watch it.

All is Lost 8/10

A really good film from start to finish. For a film that doesn't 'say a lot'', it managed to keep me fully engaged.

Robert Redford turns in a subtly, brilliant performance!

The only downside which prevented me from giving it a higher score........was the end. I would have preferred to have seen the end finish about 5-10 minutes before it did. The end felt like a cliche cop-out and didn't really fit with the tone of the entire film. I think the most favorable ending, befitting the tone of the movie, would have been 'him' sitting there contemplating the end. I think it should have been left to the viewer as to whether he survives or not.

Paranormal Activity: The marked ones 7/10 I'm probably one of the few left that isn't sick of found footage :lol it was a pretty fun movie, in it's own right, way better than the last one, cholos vs witches, what can I say? :yess:

The new Riddick movie. Good flick, I like how they nodded towards the second flick, but kept that crap to a minimum and tied into Pitch Black's storyline. Something still seemed a little off, I guess its cause its now an space - action franchise instead of space horror. Enjoyable, but i still prefer Pitch Black's overall tone.

I actually enjoyed the movie... and I never give a 10/10. That implies a perfect movie and every movie, in my opinion, can always be improved in some way.
I took points away for the ending. It was slow and unexciting. I didn't really feel the intensity of them being in trouble for their actions when the Sheriff was sniffing around. I think it would have been better if the Sheriff let them go, THEN saw something in the water. For example the hand that slowly came up out of the water. Alas, it was only Ed's dream (Jon Voight). That scene would have been a great way to end the movie with the Sheriff seeing that.

I loved the train fight sequence much more than I thought I would. Absolutely better than Origins. But ultimately not as good as I hoped.

And I've always hated the bone claws thing. In the Byrne/Claremont era, the claws were given to him when they grafted his bones with adamantium, so I guess I'll always think of it that way. But regardless, why the hell are his bone claws always portrayed as lumpy?!? I can't think of any animal that has lumpy claws. They're all smooth and razor sharp. And bones are usually smooth too. Shouldn't they be smooth like ribs or something?

Carrie remake 8/10, watched it because of a good score here, it's a pretty solid remake, not better than the original though, it was part the same as the original and part something different, this is a good remake to introduce a new generation to the movie, Chloe Grace Moretz is really talented, I didn't think I'd buy her as Carrie but I did, and Julian Moore was excellent, the supporting cast was also very good but far less memorable than the original, that's ok since kids these days are pretty generic :lol the only thing that this movie does better than the original are Carries telekinetic feats, those were very impressive.

DBZ Battle of the Gods 8/10 really fun to watch, but it was more a 2 hour episode than a movie, anyway, everything I love about DBZ was there in large quantities, light hearted humor and pretty awesome fights, SSJ God was lame though.

It's a new adaptation of the book, not a remake of De Palma's movie :peace

I'm glad you liked it though! :hi5: I fear that a lot of people are too quick to dismiss something that dares to be too similar to something they already love. I agree about Carrie's telekenetic rampage, very cool.

Paranormal Activity - 7 / 10

Never seen any of this series before - wasn't that interested. It was on TV tonight, & I thought - because it's the first one.. I'll give it a watch.

It was alright for the most part; the candidness of the style, the awkward moments between the couple, the escalating tension & fear of the unknown force in their house. I thought the girl was great - she played her role well. So too with the boyfriend - he's the kind of guy you want to slap across the back of the head whenever you see him. He reminded me a little of a younger Ray Romano with a little less idiocy. :lol

The part that ruined it for me - the very end. The very last bit. ****ing STUPID!!!

Needless to say, I won't be watching any of the others, & I see there's a new one just about to hit theatres. :slap :lol
