In honor of the forthcoming Rainman figure--Taxi Driver: 8/10

Excellent character study of a lunatic. I worked in a psych unit once many moons ago, and ran across guys who had some of Travis's personality and behavioral quirks. Much respect to Deniro and Scorsese for putting together such a convincing portrayal of such an unconventional character.

BATMAN : Mask Of The Phantasm 10/10

Yes its an Animated Movie, I DONT CARE! I LOVE IT!
This is IMO is easily one of the best Batman stories ever told! And one of, if not my favorite Bat-movie! They got a theatrical release! Even if they didnt make a nickel!

The story is great, to the point, good love story, flashbacks to the origin, (Great idea instead of showing us 20 minutes of a story we already know) The music is great! Beyond great!

Voice acting, i dont need to justify myself, i LOVE This, and even as a kid i remember it being very emotional. Bravo to the creative team behind this.

Dead Snow 8/10
Just a great indie zombie flick. So much blood and violence and a funny cast. Love it.

Friday The 13th - Part 3 6.5/10
Havent watched it since I was a kid. Its a good movie as far as an origin story, but the acting and dialogue are pretty bad and with the quality of the movie with the cheesy 3D dates it pretty bad. But still a classic.

Friday The 13th - Part 4 8/10
Much better than Part 3 in my opinion. Kind of a doofy ending but still good.

The Collection - 4/10
Stupid movie. Just as dumb as the first. Just senseless gore, a stupid killer, pointless plot, horrible acting and cheesy diologue. The only reason its not lower of a rating is because of all the crazy death scenes.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers 2/10
Aweful excuse for a Halloween movie. I hadnt seen it before and it was on Netflix so thought why not. Horrible idea. Paul Rudd in a "serious" role. :lol

Yeah but it circled back around with Zombie's renditions. Hopefully the next person that picks up the series makes it worthy.

Loved the dreamy, neon drenched vibe.

Couldn't invest in any of the characters but I did think Franco turned in a superb performance. Almost unrecognisable.

I did however like the message Korine set out to tell. Definitely an experience.

Insidious with Aliens instead of ghosts.

Usual annoying open ending with no resolution as is typical of this kind of film. I hate it. I knew it was going to be one of those films pretty quickly but I guess I watched just to see if I'd be proven wrong. Nope.

Tank: 5.5/10

1984 movie starring James Garner as a military sergeant who beats up a local cop, and hijinks ensue. Not very good at all. Sentimental, predictable, and by-the-numbers. Doesn't do anything particularly wrong though, considering that it doesn't try to be anything more than that. Gets a slightly better than average rating only because James Garner is in it being James Garner.

Taken 2. 7/10. Neeson's one-man war on Tropoja continues. That town's got to be running out of henchmen by now. Dead Albanians all over the place.

Retread ... but not a bad retread. Not as good as the first -- but, I honestly can't think of a way that it could've been as good as the first. Its a bit like Die Hard or Indiana Jones in that regard ... nothing was going to live up to the original. Solid entry. Reasonably good action. Characters stayed reasonably consistent. I liked it.

If you're looking for a psychological thriller that will leave impressed, this is the one to see. This is one of the best movies that I've seen in a LONG while. Excellent casting, with many 'big names' (without giving you the feeling that you're watching a movie with a bunch of 'big names'. It doesn't feel 'Hollywood-ish' if that makes sense.)

It takes a 'popular' theme (about depression and the medications to treat it) and puts a unique spin on things, leaving you thinking from beginning to end. And as you begin to appreciate the characters, you realize nothing is as it seems....

The editing helps build the tension - and allows a lot of 'suggested' gore/mutilation. This is why it stands out from the rest of the Saw films which are very graphic.

The twist at the end was superbly done. Just because you knew what was going to happen doesn't mean the film suffers. I saw the film when it first came out and no one was yet to spoil the twist. It was inredible.

The editing helps build the tension and allows a lot of 'suggested' gore/mutilation.You don't know what exactly I didn't like about it yet trying to contradict...

Too many flashbacks, they are inappropriate in the story and makes kindergarten play of a movie where everything is properly chewed and even put in your mouth "cuz it's entertainment so teh brain must rest".

Just because you knew what was going to happen doesn't mean the film suffers. It was inredible. And again contradict just for the sake of it...

The twist was about a character you could only see for a moment near the beginning, someone you didn't cared and didn't know anything about. They could give him more screen time, make scenes where Zep interacts with him in a hospital w/o making it obvious, ect. But nope, better fill it with flashbacks :slap

The Collection - 7/10

Saw this in theaters when it first came out and being a fan of the first movie I was left somewhat disappointed with The Collection when I first saw it but after a second viewing and knowing what to expect and turning my mind off to some of the more ludicrous plot points (zombies, c'mon, OK not really zombies, just victims drugged up to the point of violent madness) I enjoyed it a bit more the second time around. My biggest gripe with the film is it felt too big or grand for what it is to me which of course is a common problem with sequels. Still while many of the gruesome traps and kills are a little ridiculous if not implausible, especially in the first 10 mins, they are still fun to watch and The Collector's horrific lair of torture is disturbingly and beautifully detailed. Also as much as I like The Collector as a horror villain, I couldn't help but want to see the main character Arkin get some well deserved retribution which makes the ending very satisfying and I really hope they don't ruin it with another sequel which I'm sadly sure they will.

Same here. In fact the first Saw is definitely one of my favorite horror movies to come out in the last 10 years or so. Still for me the series ended after Saw 3 and I haven't even bothered with any of the Saw movies after 4 (with the exception of the last one).

Acting 8/10
Entertainment value 1/10

Can't believe I actually made it through this movie without either falling asleep or turning it off out of sheer boredom. Comparing it to paint drying would be unfair to paint, more like watching a stopwatch tick by while in bullet time or waiting for a kettle to boil with the stove turned off.

Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate slow paced movies, and the acting was spot on as was it's depicton of watching a loved one deteriorate. What this film was in serious need of was an editor, they could have EASILY cut out 25 minutes of this movie, which runs at 127 minutes.

The only way I would recommend this film is if you are in need of a seep aid.

I've seen this pop up on some "list your favorite movies" threads and my understanding was that this was a bit of a cult classic. I always thought the poster was cool but never had any idea what it was about nor had I ever watched it until last night.

It was okay, it certainly held my attention all the way through. A cool time capsule movie of how street gangs were perceived and/or glorified in the 70's. I liked the cast and the tone but otherwise I wouldn't say it was anything that special, at least seeing it for the first time in this day and age.

It was the budget. The bigger the budget, the dumber it has to be. You know, to get a wide audience.

The Patriot. 7/10. Been a long time since I've seen it. Its good ... but could've much been better. Gets a little slow and schmaltzy in the middle. Great villain. A couple of really good battle scenes. The ambush on the British prisoner transport was awesome.

With historical movies like this, part of the purpose is to give a historical tour. Titanic, for instance, pairs up a low class dude and a high class chick in some half-assed corny romance so that the viewer can tour the whole boat and meet all the major players before and during the wreck. Saving Private Ryan is kinda the same way ... D-Day landing, and then a tour of the European front while searching for Ryan. Gives a broad perspective on the European war by following a small group.

The Patriot could've done a LOT better at this. It seemed to get so focused on a character study of a fictional family that it lost its purpose ... which was to use the fictional family to get a broad and narrow perspective on the Revolutionary War. It does well on the narrow perspective ... but doesn't give the broad perspective well at all. None of the major players are shown -- Franklin, Jefferson, Sam Adams, John Adams, Paine. Even major military players are skipped completely (with the major exception of Cornwallis). I think Washington is on screen for about a half-second. It skips the Tea Party and the lead up to war ... and then saves the broad perspective on the war for a 90-second montage at the end of the movie, ending in Yorktown.

They could've done almost the same story, minus some of the schmaltz, and added a lot more perspective by getting Ben Martin into the action earlier and more broadly.

Still waiting on the truly great American Revolution epic. This will have to do for now.

The story is pretty funny too. :dunno

I mean....they steal a dead guy's car, which is a pretty stand out vehicle, and drive it around town for everyone to see. Which is one of the steps to them actually getting caught.

Not to mention they bought a gas powered Chainsaw...and forgot the gas. Then after disposing the bodies, they stopped at Subway for a bite to eat....ect..ect...

Synopsis - Frank (Joel Murray) has had enough of the downward spiral of American culture. Divorced, recently fired, and possibly terminally ill, Frank truly has nothing left to live for. But instead of taking his own life, he buys a gun and decides to take out his frustration on the cruelest, stupidest, most intolerant people he can imagine -- starting with some particularly odious reality television stars.

I highly recommend this movie if you can't stand reality tv personalities, and in general, people who don't make the world a better place. It's a dark comedy, over the top, and definitely entertaining. The main character is played by one of Bill Murray's brothers, Brian. The last movie I saw him in was "One Crazy Summer" with John Cusack. The movie is on Netflix and worth the time you dedicate to watching it...unless you're uptight or something.

Youre Next 5/10
Total crap. Bearly watchable. The acting was painful to deal with, no character devolopment so you feel nothing when they all die, and the plot was so simplistic and lazy. Wont be watching this crap again.

Halo 4 : Forward Unto Dawn - 8/10

I was actually pretty surprised by this one. Though, not sure how people would relate to it not being Halo Fans. Acting was very good, special effects top notch and you got to see the chief in real life for christ's sake. Good straight to DVD movie!

Goodfellas - 9.5/10

I have seen this movie many times but recently watched it on Amazon Prime. Still, one of my all time favorite gangster movie flicks. All the lead actors deliver amazingly and the story ( based on a true story ) is exactly how you would expect the mob to be like. Just love this movie.

Lady Snowblood - 9/10

People aren't wrong when they say Kill Bill would cease to exist without this one. I think I prefer Lady Snowblood overall , it's a heavier movie with more character.

Downfall 8.5/10

Great movie if you can handle the material.

The Cabin in the Woods 7/10

I was surprised how much i enjoyed this. I had no idea what it was about outside of a "cabin in the woods." Its gory, funny and doesn't take itself serious in the least, and it was a little different. I dont know how much re-watchable quality it has if any but if you're in the mood for a silly horror movie without much depth its decent for a single view.

I just saw "The Dark Night Rises" for the first time. I avoided the movie because I was a little disturbed by the news of the broken back.

As it turned out...it wasn't that big a deal.

But then, I think that phrase is a great discription of the entire movie...

Rated..."not that big a deal/10".
