Prometheus

I really want to like it but its just so damn shoddy/10

I always get sad when watching this film. Such evocative ideas and imagery for a potential SF classic, completely wasted on a script that is not only stupid and lazy in more way than one could count, but also totaly mundane and underwhelming, painting an expedition that should have been elating, awe-inspiring and/or horryfing into something totaly meh' and lightweight.

Still despite the fact that its undoubtedly a ****ed up job and wasted potential, I still can't bring myself to hate this film. The starting idea behind it and the potential this story had is just too good. I always have the "what could have been" feeling, while watching it.

7.5/10

Very enjoyable documentary style horror film. Definite creep out factor and nice transition between the various media used. I'd rate it up there with Insidious, Sinister, V/H/S for scare factor, but definitely a different vibe. If you haven't seen it would recommend it being watched without first reading other reviews/sources---I went into it not knowing what it was about and enjoyed it immensely. Definitely makes you leery about what you eat/drink/swim in.

This movie is not nearly as bad as critics are making it out to be. Its a big fun western epic. Train sequences are bad@$$, Depp is great as Tonto and Hammer does good as The Lone Ranger. Its brutal and has some sharp camera work. Funny to! I deff would of shaved off about a half hour, its to long and i feel thats its tragic downfall.

What a pile of ****. Worst of all, the bit that really freaks me out is the girl in the cellar singing "we're going to get you".

Even though it was in the trailer, it was completely missing from the film. And don't get me started on the "bonus" scene after the credits. Awful!

Fairly average '80s comedy in many ways, but gets an above average score for the performances by Michael Keaton, Christopher Lloyd, and Peter Boyle. Fun, and worth watching. I never even heard about it until I saw it recommended by Netflix.

Maybe it's the Arnold fan in me. I really enjoyed this movie.
It was great to see Arnold back and the special features were excellent also , Kim Jee Woon directing everybody with no trouble despite not being able to speak a word of English and everyone being extremely happy to work with both him and Arnold made the making of the film seem like it would have been a lot of fun.

I was glad to see they didn't hold back on the violence also. A great return for Arnold imo.

Cause it resembles Transformers too much and we've seen this plenty of times. I won't be seeing it again either. It was a good one-off but I could see sequels being repetitive ala Transformers. I did like this a lot better than Transformers though.

I enjoyed it a lot! It had a better story than I expected it to have and the character development was pretty good too, especially for a summer blockbuster. It wasn't just monsterbrawling, but the fights we did get were awesome!! :rock :rock

There are some minor bits that should've been developed better though.

Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha being destroyed during their first action scenes for example.
They are being introduced as the biggest of them all (Crimson) with three pilots and three armed combat action, and the oldest, toughest and heaviest (Cherno), and they went down like *******. Especially Crimson.
At least it took two Kaiju to take down Cherno and the way the pilots drowned was brutal, but still... I feel like if we'd had a scene or maybe a flashback before that one proving the strength and awesomeness of these two machines, it would've made an even bigger impact and showed the strength of Leatherback and Otachi even more.

Perhaps a possible director's cut could fix this...

It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, based on all the bad reviews it's gotten, but it had its problems. Definitely all the criticisms about there being way too much action was spot on. But I also don't think it was devoid of emotion or characterization like the reviews suggested. I also think it's the Superman movie fan boys have been demanding for ages, Supes punching the crap out of other super beings, and lots of action and destruction. Which all goes to show: be careful what you wish for. I really did enjoy the non-fighting parts. I thought Cavill played Supes fairly well with what he was given. I thought Amy Adams was great as Lois and thought she had plenty to do and was fleshed out well. And thought the rest of the cast, particularly Crowe and Costner, were excellent. The criticisms that Supes didn't show enough concern for regular people was well founded. It bothered me that he didn't move his Smallville fight to the cornfields instead of keeping it right in the middle of town.

I do like where they left things off and it made me excited for the future installments. However, that's all ruined now because of the Superman/Batman team-up movie now being the official sequel. :(

The Wolverine - 8/10

This isn't like most Superhero movies, the emphasis was on character more so than spectacle.

Logan starts as a man crippled by his having to kill Jean grey in X3. He has dreams of her and is haunted by his loss and inability to forgive himself.

He has taken a vow not to kill anymore, much like in Old Man Logan. Of course it doesn't last long and he reluctantly ends up in Tokyo meeting a man who offers him mortality to end his suffering and re-join Jean.

Events take hold and soon things become a chase across Japan with Logan having taken up the role as protector.

His character takes the forefront and he develops and transitions well to where he ends up at the end. Mariko and Logans relationship is pretty good, it's the basic princess becomes simtten with her white knight protector, it's a dynamic that plays well if not predictable.

There was a fair bit of humour, but didn't contrast with the tone which was was rather personal and bleak.

Action was great, this isn't the big huge destruction of Man of Steel or the sci-fi spectacle of Iron Man 3 but personal engagements of swordplay and fisiticuffs. Even at the end the scale grows but the core fight remains the same. It is different than the released clips, it's longer and editted right.

The supporting characters are pretty good.

Mariko plays the angelic and naive love interest well.
Yukio was great, best sidekick in any movie i've seen and her action was awesome.
Harada was cool as the loyal bodyguard to the Yashida clan but not too explored.
Shingen and Yashida played their roles well but didn't stand out much.
Viper wasn't bad for the most part, her presence was in small doses and this was for the best as toward the end her character stepped to the front and she became the typcial venemous female with no soul.

Enjoyed it very much. Not quite as good as X2 or XFC but much much better than X3 and Origins. From this year i preferred Man of Steel a bit more then this then IM3.

Make sure you stay for a mid-credit scene.

Pros:
Wolverine himself is badass and probably the best Jackman has played him
The healing factor plot makes sense in th film and is done well
Actions was great, but could've been more bloody
Logan and Yukio make a great team

Cons:
The pace slowed down and become a bit lullsome in the middle
The villains were decent but didn't stand out that much
Disjointed rating, at times ther'es blood and impalment and swearwords other times it restrains these things.

Some Spoile stuff you shouldn't read unless you've seen it...

The way the healing factor was done i thought was well thought out.
Having viper poison him and supress his healing factor rather than remove it was ideal to keep him as Wolverine.

I don't know the Silver Samurais story so i don't know if they butchered his character, but while things are obviously different i don't see and things done for jokes so i can't imagine it's as bad as Mandarin

The Silver Samurai robot with Yashida i thought was a great design, but could've done with being outside the generic science facility.

The part where Mariko is stroking Logans claws had bad editting it switches view and hand on his claws is in different positions.

Pretty shocked they got rid of his adamantium claws. i thought they'd find a convenient way to grow them back but no and Logan leaving Mariko at the end made better sense that the conventional happily ever after ending, they weren't really in love more like enamoured with each other, The ending where he kindof accepts that he's a mutant killer who can help people is a good sign that hopefully he'll no longe be trying to fight against who he is.

If they make an X-FORCE movie i really hope Yukio is on the team she was awesome.

The rating was weird they kept things like blood and visible stabbings out for the most part but then showed Logan cutting into himself with blood and being impaled with swords and swearing like a trucker. They coud've eaily gone whole hog and had him stabbing people visible even if you don't see the blood.

The Ninjas in the snow battle was much shorted than the trailers, he basically runs while getting shot and sucumbs. Him cutting the wires and slicing and killing a few of them and then finally succumbing to the amount of arrowas and poison dart would've been better.

Apart from Kirsten Scott Thomas.

Yeah. But ****. I hated her. She was good in her role. I guess.

No-one was really likeable in OGF. I didn't know who to root for.

And that's the thing. The atmosphere is the narrative. But I don't care. I'm a characters man. No characters. No enjoyment.

Only God Forgives 10/10

Many hate it, I think it's a work of genius.

Till this day I still have no idea what I watched exactly when I went to see that movie, but I just can't call it bad. Highly interesting is what I'd call it and I'll most likely pick it up on Blu when it comes out.

I can't call it bad either. But I can't call it good. I probably won't buy it, but i'll watch it again in a few years.
