^ And it should've been amazing, had they just did what they wanted.

The script is so dull and generic, that the nice N/Tesq moments get buried under a pile of boredom.

The Lost World -- 7/10. Malcolm works better as a side-character than the main character. Weird casting on Moore and Vaughn. Ending wasn't what it could've been.

Still ... it had some cool scenes, the dinosaurs looked great, the premise of a free-roaming island was good, and I really liked the badass great white hunter. Not great, but an underrated sequel.

crows
02-05-2013, 01:52 PM
I love RLM too but they take long to review movies and they don't even review everything that is out there like Jeremy Jahns does. That's the problem.

CelticPredator
02-05-2013, 02:12 PM
No. That's the best part. Spill reviews every movie. RLM only reviews a film worthy of something to say. Which is nice.

And their long reviews are far more interesting, due to the fact they don't just say "it sucks" or "it's good", they discuss why the film is what it is. And that is what makes them the best.

After Porn Ends

After Porn Ends, is a documentary that not only examines the lives and careers of some of the biggest names in the history of the adult entertainment industry; but what happens to them after they leave the business and try and live the "normal" lives that millions of other Americans enjoy.

They hailed from the rural South, steel towns, and the San Fernando Valley. As teenagers, and young adults, none of them thought that porn was in their future. They were artists, baseball players, child prodigies, and even Ivy Leaguers.
Now, after their lives in porn; they're TV stars, bounty hunters, writers, and social activists. What happened in between? And now that they've moved on, can they really live a normal life after porn?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1291547/

(sounds interesting but I never liked seeing interviews with porn stars because it ruins it for me. Either they are too airheaded or they are nice and friendly and that ruins their movies for me, ruins the illusion)

Donnie Darko. I like this movie a little bit more every time I see it. I like how you can catch something different every time and it's slightly ambiguous plot. 7.5/10

One thing about this thread is I see people throwing 10's around like it's nothing. I think of a 10 as pretty much a perfect movie or at least almost close to it. There's that many perfect movies? :lol I guess it's just I rarely give a ten to something. Actually there is only 3 movies right now off the top of my head that I can give a perfect score to. I have decided to give this movie a new rating. I rate it Movie 43. Because a film rated Movie 43 is not a film. It's not even a movie. It's just a series of moving images, made to look like a film, but without any real thought, or any bit of work put into it.

Everything about this movie is terrible. There isn't a single moment that makes you smile. It's devoid of any real emotion, aside from anger, and puzzlement.

What is a perfect movie?

A 10/10 movie for me is not necessarily perfect, but has all the following elements;

1. Acting is top notch (along with the support)
2. The cinematography (the vibe of the film)
3. The subject matter
4. Watchability (can I watch this film time and time again?)

All these go towards my scoring. If I score a film 10/10 I am not necessarily saying its perfect, but all my boxes have been well and truly ticked!

well it is a personal score, so it is not stupid to score movies personally, because you like what you like.

What it is completely retarded is trying to humiliate and mock people for their personal scores. I know everyone does it as a joke sometimes but when people are serious about it is just so stupid, some people get really serious with their insults and they get offended about a score
If someone scores Batman and Robin 10/10, they might be crazy, but that's their personal score.

I had the oppurtunity to rewatch Sopranos with my friend, and I only recently got caught up on BB so thats still fresh too and I just feel like DW has the tightest character stories and the most that come full circle in a more or less satisfying way. (Short of Hearst of course who couldn't be murdered without altering real history.) But it kept me interested every second for every little character interaction because none of it was just to fill time like several entire seasons of the Sopranos. Coma, dreams etc. Wires the 2nd tightest in terms of writing but ultimately DW, Sopranos, and BB are more fun to watch I think.

Still need to give BB a chance to wrap up though.

I watched it the second time and in some ways it was better because you could watch the clues and details a little better opposed to figuring out the big picture. The show isn't for everyone but I loved it.

I tried watching other critically acclaimed shows i.e Deadwood and the Wire and I wanted to slit my wrists I was so bored, so to each it's own.

Good luck. Easily one of the worst films I saw last year.

I think it's difficult to enjoy a movie when people give you good or bad expectations...

If you allow yourself, to study yourself, you'll find that weather you like a movie is purely based on:

1) how you found out about it
2) the MOOD your in that day
3) the environment you watch it in

An example of this is let's say a friend of mine who I haven't seen in 5 years is in town. We go out and eat and watch a movie. Well if it's my best friend, most any movie we watch is going to be good because of the company your in...

On the flip side, say some goof at work says Battleship is fantastic... your likely to think the movie sucks cuz he's a loser!

Movies are weird to say the least...

The last one I watched was 7 psychopaths. I have to say I'm a little bit partial to anything Christoper Walken does! so needless to say I really enjoyed it.

Umm what? I could be in Katy Perrys presence and I would still say Battleship sucked *** and believe me I would be in good company because well its Katy Perry :lol but seriously I don't understand this concept. I rate movies on how well they are done not because of the enviroment I am in or how I heard about it and the mood I am well I watch movies that I am in the mood for so I don't pick a horror movie if I am in the mood for a good drama.

Forgot Flight 7/10 It would have scored higher, but I just felt it dragged a little bit. It was good though and I thought Denzel was brilliant in it. Plus John Goodman was hilarious in this movie.

Appaloosa. 6/10. Mediocre movie with a good ending. Motivation didn't even make any sense ... Ed Harris is fighting to keep a chick that'll "bed anything that ain't gilded" including Harris's mortal enemy, Harris's sidekick, and a dude that kidnapped her for ransom. Mortensen is his sidekick ... because he can't think of anything better to do, best I can tell. And, there must've been two dozen uselessly long completely silent filler shots of people riding horses through dirt. Not nearly as good as I expected.

Sinister. 6.5/10

A solid effort but not as good as I expected it to be. Had some creepy moments but I think the ending really let it down. It seemed to just appear out of nowhere and then finish without any build up. A really weak finale imo.

Out of this and Insidious last year I preferred Insidious.

It gets the bonus 0.5 for the extras also , cool little feature on a haunted house where a murder killed an entire family after hiding in their attic , the crew actually witness a door shut itself in the middle of an interview ( providing it wasn't a set up of course ).

I've been a Die Hard fan since I was a small child. This is one of the most painful movie experiences in my life.

I wouldn't wish this movie upon my worst enemies.

It's true. They did. I'm not proud. But they were already going to make a Die Hard 6. So I realized, even if I didn't pay, it wouldn't matter.

But I honestly expected a movie that was bad, but not devoid of everything that makes a movie a movie. I was expecting something kind of generic.

This was low. Low for anything. But it was over pretty quick. John McClane go to Russia. Met with the bad guys, a gun fight ensued, they went to Cherynoble, and had a short helicopter battle, and the movie was over.

Seriously. That was the whole movie. It was insanity.

Nahh. I don't even want that Blu Ray set out right now. I just want Die Hard. Possibly 3 as well.

With this, and Colonial Marines, I'm doubting Fox again.

I thought we were past this?

Some guy who kills people - 7/10

I thought it was an interesting little movie. Nothing crazy, but a little bit of a twist in there makes it worth while. It comes off as a campy horror flick, but again it was cool for what it was. I enjoyed it at least.

Doomsday Book - 7/10

I was really happy to see this was uploaded to Netflix last night , I've been wanting to see it for a while. I enjoyed all 3 short films although as expected Jee-Woon Kim's stood out as the best of the bunch.

They all had something to say about the way were currently treating the planet and also touched on religion slightly , an interesting watch and something I'd like to probably buy now.

Great movie. Almost like a breath of fresh air to get something so direct and visceral. Strong action but still cared about the characters. Who says you need to see the full face in order to relate to the characters? I hope they make a sequel.

And now I want figures for this movie!

I *KindOf* Understand the hate but i enjoyed it!? :dunno

PROS
Awesome overthetop action, I liked him and his son together, short and sweet and 2 scenes with Lucy McClane

CONS
No 1 main villian, would of been nice if Willis had more McClane dialouge

Glad I'm not the only one.

The part that took me out of the movie was when all the contestants, who decided to team up against the main protagonist, decided to wait together while she was up in a tree. They all slept together... quite peacefully I might add. :thud:

The director for that movie should be fired.
The camera work was Ridiculous. the camera never stood still for more than 4 seconds, Seriously, watch it again, the camera never stays in one place more than a couple of seconds and then it moves more than the camera did in Cloverfield.

that annoyed so much. Most people say "They couldn't show the violence so they had to do that" but the camera moves from beginning to end. I couldn't stand the movie.

as far as the plot, Battle Royale is so much better is not even funny. Such a superior movie.

excuse me sir i already explained,

the idiot director doesnt stop shaking or cutting every single second from the beginning .

Even when people were eating at a table the camera cuts like 15 times.... such crap.

I'd encourage my kids to read the book (first one anyway, next two were crap), but the movie was pretty terrible, even for a PG movie

Still a better product then Twilight. And i'll stand by that.

While it's a generic film, that feels like the by product of 40 other ideas shoved into one ball of fluff...it's still a more interesting tale then Twilight is. Better characters too.

This is not a total defense of the film. But it is an understanding.

Pretty much how I feel about this movie. I'd give it a 5.5 or 6 out of 10 though. After the beginning the bad guys were really lame, and I couldn't get over the lame twists at the end. Anytime you start to think about how the plot doesn't add up they just have more explosions to distract you.

I read the Hunger Games books and I do agree the movie and book concept aren't that earth-shattering. The movie was an adequate adaptation and I enjoyed seeing them use that early 70s Sci-Fi movie aesthetic (think Logan's Run and THX1138). The book explained certain things better. But I have to give the books credit for being such a downer of a series, especially for one aimed at teens. I really wonder how that will all play out in the movies and if general audiences who haven't read the books will accept such a bleak series.

Splash - I never saw this, altough I've been aware it existed for like 20 years, I just assumed it was a kid's flick that happened to get Daryl Hanna's *** in it because 80s censors weren't as strict. I saw it on TV and saw John Candy and thought, I'll give him a chance. I still have no idea who the target audience here is. It's not for little girls, and if it is, it certainly instills some bad morales. She comes ashore naked and immediately just throws herself at a stranger and they have sex several times before he even realises she doesn't speak english. :rotfl This felt like it was Pretty Woman with a Mermaid, just really strange although Candy and Eugene Levy are somewhat funny in their roles. No idea how to rate it. :dunno
