Our prayers are answered, look better than I could have hoped for. Judging from these pics articulation won't be too dynamic, but it still looks pretty awesome to me!

That is incredible. I can't leave this one out, a must-have!

Although the Tony Stark head really doesn't go well on the figure

I wonder what it means by 36 points of articulation? doesn't the standard body only have 32? So is it counting the flaps or something?

darren1228
07-23-2008, 01:36 AM
Yep I bet it includes all the flaps and everything. Besides it isn't using the standard Hot Toys body.

I thought exactly the same thing, on this occaision I'd rather have an accurate figure with limited articulation, which seems to be what we've got, than a super bendy poseable IRONMAN that looks far from screen accurate.
I WANT IT NOW!

Awesome, but it seems that he cannot move that much. Wait for more pics with flying pose.
Another little issue, Downey is only 5.8" (maybe 6.0" with the armor) but here he looks like he's 6.3", it will be realy important if HotToys got the entire Marvel Avengers characters upcoming movies. Downey at the same size than Thor and Cap....

So far to me, this appears to be the figure of the year. As awesome as the Vader announcment is... this figure is so detailed and litterally perfect that it's in its own league.

And even though the Stark head looks funky on the body, the likeness is excellent and he'll make a great alter-ego in a suit figure :rock

that's what i have been struggling with. i think Iron Man is visually and technically more impressive, but Dark Knight has always been a more fascinating character to me. plus i enjoyed the dark knight movie way more than Iron Man (but i loved Iron Man)

I think Dark Knight for me, but money permitting - both.

I'm asking myself the same thing. I don't know if I can get either but I'm sure i can't get both. Even tho I'm a much bigger Batman fan than Iron Man, I'll have to put the IM over Bats. Of course I just saw these pics today so I'll have to revisit the desicion once the initial wow factor wears off a little. Right now I just can't see anyone ever topping that IM figure.

This figure epitomises the film. One complete package. Perfect.

Agreed. That being said I want a Mark 02 and a Mark 01 as well as a Mark 03 BD from this line.....knowing Hot Toys I'll get my wish.

looks very solid - reminds me of their Robocop release

How many points of articulation did Robocop have?

I thought exactly the same thing, on this occaision I'd rather have an accurate figure with limited articulation, which seems to be what we've got, than a super bendy poseable IRONMAN that looks far from screen accurate.
I WANT IT NOW!

I'm not sure that scoffing at 36 points of articulation is all that limited.....

What you have to remember is that image tricks were used to make Tony taller because the character is supposed to 6'1" out of armor and 6'6" in armor. He even stood on a box when he did his scene with Gwenny. If he looks 6'3" in armor he actually looks a little too small :lol

Had anyone pre-ordered these yet... They're here................. :monkey1

Hell yeah Toys2 baby!

Since no Movie Iron Man PF was announced I think I may just stick with this. He turned out great as expected.

I wouldn't count out a PF, SSC said that more Iron Man film property items would be released after the first bust was out and about, that makes me think its a bigger ticket which could in reality encompass a PF.

Pre-ordered from the SS website??? I thought it was still just preview stage.

SS's site will offer this up probably today or tomorrow to keep customers from going elsewhere one would think.

Will this be a snap kit like the predators and Robocop? Also, has SSC officially announced it will carry this, or is that an assumption at this point?

With all the light up parts I don't see how this could be a snap kit because it'd be a nightmare if people didn't do it right or heated it up or soaked the pieces to make them fit like they do with the Preds and then have the LEDs short out.

I'm glad you trimmed them down to one, it gets bothersome jumping from thread to thread to follow one subject, great job Adoptedscot :rock

If only someone would do that for all the different TDK HT items.

BOTH son!!!!:monkey1

Agreed. You can't skip one, you need both!!

that is correct. that is because Batman is part of DC, and sideshow only has the Marvel license.

DC considers it a conflict of interest to distribute the DC HT stuff since Sideshow has the Marvel license in house, ironically DC also will not part out rights domestically for their heroes....

With the 25% off, that's $151.71 shipped. Obviously, one needs to prepay but I'm not sure that price will ever be beaten at retail. Not unless Live's Cashback goes back up to 30%-35%, of course.

Score.

If you pre-order something just when your checking out use payment method money order, that way no deposit or cancellation charge if you change your mind. Once the item is in stock they send you a email asking for the money order you can then pay via paypal/credit card if you like.

Looks like we have a contest. :monkey5

I would think it more costly and time consuming to make clothes accurate in detail and fit correctly, plus sculpt and paint the head and hands, than injection mould plastic and paint it, and just snap the whole thing together virtually. Just different moulds and better paint apps than the Hasbro repulsor Ironman, and Hasbro has sound effects. So I agree, no contest. None.

I see more value in a clothed figure than a fully plastic one. Just that we have different perspectives. If Ironman had been an armoured body, then yes, I would have agreed on the engineering comment.

Other than that, Ironman is a much better figure. The likeness issues it has = zilch. + The colour sheme and paint apps = zero issues. Ironman = money well spent. Just a cooler figure from a cooler movie. :lol Where the Joker has issues.

This will be my very first figurine of this kind, meaning comics or sci-fi. I've previously collected autographed sports figures but I can't seem to resist the coolness of this figure and The Dark Knight Batman and Joker Figures. You guys (non-gender specific) keep your fingers crossed that I don't get any deeper into these types of figures. I already collect WAY too much other things and don't need another vice. Wish me luck!:slap

I would say its almost guaranteed... HT loves variants so most likely there will be a Mark II and a Battle Damaged Mark III. I mean they remade Robocop 3 times, released a brown, grey and grid AVP.

3 Robos? I only remember the regular Robocop and then the Robocop 3 with flightpack. What was the third one?

Anyway, HT's excellent handing of the Robocop and Terminator Endoskeleton figures is what's really selling me on thier Iron Man.

Well GOODLUCK! I was at your position not too long ago. My plans was to just purchase the Hot Toys Wolf Predator. Then I got bitten by the bug. I then preordered the SS Exclusive Cleaner Wolf Predator, SS Exclusive Clone Wars Obi-Wan(waitlist) and Regular Obi, SS Exclusive and Regular Snake Eyes, SS Darth Vader and will try to get Exclusive, Hot Toys BB and TDK suit Batman, HT Joker, HT Batpod, HT Tumbler, Medicom TDK Batman and Joker, HT Iron Man. Oh and I got a Medicom MGS Old Snake. Thats it I think...this is not much compared to other fellow board members. By the way, welcome to the board.

They sometimes do, but I don't want to chance it. Once you use your rewards points on something, if they don't honor the discount they won't refund the rewards points back to your account.

"Museum Replicas Limited was proud to debut their much-anticipated new line of Star Wars replica costumes at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con! We had a chance to stop by and admire them, as did all of the lucky Con attendees. Our intrepid photographer snapped some great photos of the intricate costume pieces so that our online viewers can also enjoy them. And remember, these items will be offered at SideshowCollectibles.com as soon as they are available on the market, so be sure to keep an eye on our Newsletter for the first chance to get your hands on these amazing pieces of costume art! In the meantime, click the photos below to browse them at your leisure:

We will also be offering more items from our distributors such as Hot Toys and Medicom very soon at SideshowCollectibles.com, such as the Iron Man Mark II 12-inch Figure (Hot Toys), and the Anakin Skywalker RAH Figure (Medicom Toy), as well as the new, super-deformed Yoda VCD (Medicom Toy)…. so keep an eye out for those as well!"

I just pulled the trigger on one of these after reading this thread. I was planning on it all along but I was waiting to see if Sideshow would offer an exclusive. I'm new at collecting but I have several items ordered that I have yet to recieve all Hot Toy's Dark Knight pieces except for the Batpod (still saving for that. My girlfriend bought me the Tumbler for my birthday)

I find it odd that I have not seen one picture of the light up eyes. Heart and hands, sure but no eyes. What gives? Not that big a deal for me since I'm new to this obscession and slightly less jaded but I was just wondering do the eyes light up or not?

That Downey sculpt is amazing. I think the only thing that doesn't quite cut it is the hair. It's a little to perfect when attached to the Mark III body. Should be a little more messy. As if you just took an iron helmet of your head. I could see it jelling perfectly with a business suit however.

I think this is a modified version of the figure with a cord for the power so they don't have to run it off batteries while it's on display. Other pictures I've seen had the lights on.

Ordered thru Viking's Playground. If you've never checked out Alexi's site , you should. He generally carries most of the HT stuff, his prices are competitive(usually lower than average) and he's a pretty nice guy to work with. Last summer my wife and I hosted a barbeque for the POSSE, and Alexi was invited. He brought a TRUCKLOAD of stuff with him(to what was essentially a small party of less than 20) and was selling it at great prices. Take a look, you won't regret it( no, I'm not getting a kick-back; he doesn't know about this posting[yet])...PS

I'm guessing almost all of us will be picking up an extra body and a suit for the Stark head, right? That's just too great a headsculpt to not display.

Figure of the year. This cannot be defeated.

But I'm still looking forward to the Mark II, which should be announced/unveiled anytime now. :rock (It was supposed to be on display at Sideshow's booth at SDCC, but the proto wasn't quite ready yet).

I want Iron Monger too, gosh darn it! But only if it has the opening up torso with Jeff Bridges inside. Not a whole/removable Bridges figure, just his body & head as if he was in the suit. If it doesn't then no sale!

I don't know if I would go for a Mark II. It would be spending way too much for what is essentially a different paint job. Now, a Mark I or Iron Monger I could certainly go for.

HEY! That's exactly what the Sideshow guys said at SDCC! They don't know either. So I guess we can't expect SS to pull anything off quite like this. They said they could NEVER produce the Tumbler for the price that Hot Toys is selling it for...I think their actually words was they would have to sell it for "like $1000 dollars".:banghead

That last sentence is absurd. I don't understand why it would cost 600 more for them to produce a 1:6 scale plastic Tumbler.

This is where non Iron Man fans show their ignorance. :lol

There are rivet points on the chest, thigh area, Forearms, Biceps, and on the Helmet itself. Not to mention the black "gaping" area of the mask which is the standard one color on the Mark 03.

The rivet points on the side of the helmet is where most customs fail:

Same design still. Just the surface has been smoothed out, become more polished with the Mark III. Still is the same body... *smacks the Mike*

The Mike isn't Iron Man. He couldn't even fill half that suit! NAY! A THIRD OF IT! Also, notice how puny the Mike's head is when he wears a Iron Man helmet.. with the helmet he looks like he's suffering from Hamburglar syndrome. Oh yes, I just went there. :moon

Sometimes the helmets aren't meant to fit snug on the head. Depends on what you need it for:

Why not an Iron Monger with Stane in it? They did Ed-209 after Robocop and the Power loader for Ripley, I don't see how Iron Monger would be a stretch for HT, and they've only gotten better since the Robocop line.
