Ban Necroposters

The ressurecting of dead threads has made the board extremely reader unfriendly over the last little while. Perhaps time to hand out some temporary bans to the culprits if they don't cease and desist ?

It sucks to have to go through 5 pages of crap to get to what is actually current threads.

Just go straight to the last page of the thread , thats what I tend to do, to see what has been added.

hey i necropost all the time. especially in the IMAGE thread of a specific item. no point in opening another thread just to post a picture or ask for information.

This is what I hate. I don't mind the bringing up of an old thread but how many times do we see new people just posting stupid ^^^^ in year old threads to build their count to 50 and with post 51 post a FS thread? If it's that easy, just get rid of the minimum post count or ban these idiots that post 50 times their first day to get in the FS section.

Yes, this is what's annoying. Not someone adding valid content to an old thread but someone posting "cool!" and "I agree" and whatnot to 3 year old threads just to get they're post count up.

If it's a picture or a valid update to an old thread then I don't see the harm.

What if this thread disappears several pages back and then next year there's another rash of necroposting and I bring this thread back up? Would that be necroposting as well?

Like others have said, it's not necroposting that's the problem, it's necroposting and adding nothing to the discussion. Anybody that does that and then goes to try to sell something in the commerce section should be beaten with the ban hammer.

I would suggest putting something about that behavior in the FAQ or board rules, but does anybody actually read that?

It seems like the mods have done a good job of getting the people who necropost to up their post count. Unless there are a bunch I have missed.

Sometimes I find some necroposts to be funny, like when one person goes through and resurrects alot of old threads with a common them, it's like a prank. Plus Batty's Necropost picture is funny, so not getting to see that in response to necroposts would suck. :(

What's funny is that if the noobs actually participated in the newer, ongoing threads, they's get to 50 posts much, much faster. I mean, all they have to do is go into any SW threads and voila.:D

That is why I don't participate in Star Wars threads. Those ^^^^ers move way too fast. I want to respond to something but then I see I am already 100 pages behind what is being talked about.:lol:lol:lol

Nope, I did the 40 per page pretty early on. I also used to use the go to most recent post button and then work backwards to the last one I read. But this other one is a heck of alot better.
