Title says it all.
Name a role an actor or actress was born to play.
Try to keep to one entry per person or at least one a day...
First one that comes to mind is actually Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison in the Doors. I thought he nailed the performance.
What say you!?

To be honest... this a rhetorical question that really has no answers. We are just so used to seeing an actor in a certain role, or it made such an impact, that we can't imagine anyone else in that role, but if a different actor had originated the role, we would probably think the exact same thing about them.

Thats why I chose Kilmer as Morrison because he had the look and he sang most of the songs. I don't think most actors could have pulled it off. But I know where your coming from

Lets see some real insight and lay down a few actors who were born to fulfill a role that they have not done yet.

Agreed completely. I came in late, made it through the first five pages or so (and about 34 Buttmunch posts) and lost interest completely. The thread should be called "Any role you really enjoyed in any movie...and oh yeah, name the actor who played them"
Anywhoo, I will vote for Zoe Bell in Death Proof. She is a hot and amazingly talented stuntwoman, playing a hot and extremely talented stuntwoman. The movie would have pretty much stunk had it not been for Zoe and the final chase.

I really can't think of any myself, right now. But there is not a lot of imagination at work in this thread. Mostly it is roles that have already been done.
What actors/roles come to your minds that have not yet happened.
Oh, and Timothy Dalton as Tony Stark?
Not.
Seriously, though, I suppose it depends on how you percieve the character. I had a different personality in mind for Tony Stark before RDJr. did him and I thought he did it as well as it can be done.
I am also not a fan of Timothy Dalton's acting. It reminds me too much of the over dramatizing that used to be necessary to project the emotion back when movies were siltent.

As a kid, I always imagined Dalton as voicing Stark when I read the comics. In fact, I think a lot of the guys in the 80s who worked on Iron Man must have used him as template for their artwork (I remember one old TPB I had where it was definitely Dalton as Stark on the cover).
He had the look and the mannerisms. "Over-dramatizing"? Do you think of Stark as some subdued, introverted hero like Batman in his private moments? No, he's a boozing, womanizing ego-maniac. Dalton would have done a fine job, though obviously Downey did, as well.

Absolutely not. But that is not what I meant. To me, when I look at actors in movies, sometimes I see actors who are trying to be a character, and sometimes I see actors who just are the character. And Timothy Dalton's acting, to me, is forced and he might "get into" character, be he doesn't really "become" the character.
Some other examples of this are SLJ as Mace Windu, Arnold Schwazenneger in any movie he has every done, and Sylvester Stallone in any movie he has ever done.

I can understand that, though that kind of gets to my point that I personally feel Dalton was "born to play" Stark. Yeah, he acts pretty much the same in all of his roles, but to me, that one role he plays is Tony Stark (if he had an American accent, of course). Similarly, Paxton seems, to me, to really be Hudson deep down. He can hide it, and he has changed a bit as he got older, but deep down inside I still think of him as being Paxton at the core, in Frailty, Twister, Big Love, etc.

I can see Hudson as being Bill Paxton's. I am OK with most of Bill Paxton's stuff (I thought I was the only one who liked "Big Love", how can a guy lose when he has three wives sitting at the kitchen table setting up a schedule of what night each one gets to sleep with him).
