well, it seems like alter-ego canceled my grid alien for $116.99. josh e-mailed and said, 'we had an inventory mistake, sorry.' just so happens that the figure currently sells for more.

i can't respect a dealer that claims inventory miscount and doesn't offer a comparable deal. his mistake, not mine. first and last order with alter-ego.

found one for around $20 more, which is still pretty good. i sure hate when you order something and they play that inventory game. especially because if he didn't post on this board, i never would have went there. thanks rory.

Maybe it was truly a mistake. It could happen....has before.

i believe there's too much competition in the collectibles biz. if you're advertising something, you best well deliver or you will lose customers. i always thought website ordering was tied to the inventory? i've ordered on sites like bbts when after the order, i went back and looked and the item was no longer available to order, like it should be. and like you said, if he did make a mistake, how did he make up for it except the standard, 'sorry for any inconvenience'. lame.

I've ordered from Alterego and had a pleasurable experience.

I preordered Jango Fett when it first went on preorder and had seen prices go up at other sites prior to release, but Alterego delivered as promised, so I don't think your Predator issue was due to rising prices.

guess you missed the point completely. for whatever reason, i didn't get what was ordered because of alter ego's inventory blunder. i'm glad one of us got what was promised.

I guess I did miss your point. But you aren't helping to clarify it. Here's what you said:

To me that says that you think they may have lied about their inventory because its more valuable now.

i can't respect a dealer that claims inventory miscount and doesn't offer a comparable deal. his mistake, not mine. first and last order with alter-ego.

And this part seems to say that since they ran out of inventory they owe you something. How do they offer a "comparable deal" on something they don't have?

I just wanted to say I don't think they did it on purpose. If you're the type of person who gets all pissy when someone makes a mistake I think you need to take a chill pill.

I too, have had great experiences with Alter Ego. I believe they try to do right by their customers whenever possible. I sincerely think this was a mistake but I also don't feel as though you are owed something for it.:lecture

I have dealt with Alter-Ego a few times and I never had a problem with them. In fact, I highly recommend them.

I remember they sent me the wrong item and I informed them about it. The next day, they shipped out the right order and sent me the postage to send back the wrong order.

a first time buyer gets a good deal and promptly gets it canceled because of an inventory mistake? do you think that is a good start to a buyer/seller relationship? i don't. a comparable deal would be to offer a 10% off coupon or something to make up for the inconvenience, not just a 'sorry'. he probably doesn't need the business?

btw, you can comprehend just about any meaning from splicing up a post. it was meant to be read as one complete statement for complete understanding. do you work for the media? :lol

who said i was owed? if he wanted to be a good seller, he would have offered. if i make a mistake selling something on ebay, i'd make up for it. first impressions are everything.

on your first ever order with them, did they cancel because of an 'inventory mistake'? maybe if they did, you'd think differently. like i said before, isn't inventory tied in with the ordering process on most websites selling items? imo, this should never happen. it really leaves a lasting negative impression on the buyer. i guess the defenders of alter-ego never had a negative experience with them, so where's the frame of reference?
