Ok, yeah I haven't been posting here in a while. I've more or less turned into a lurker because I'm sick of people bashing Sideshow. Wether it's people whineing about KOTD not glowing, or the way his hand looks, or god forbid there isn't writing on Sauron's ring... The list goes on and on. Thats why I haven't been around. But thats not what this post pertains to. This post pertains to what I see as an attack at my pride... And that don't fly straight with me. I was pokeing around on the board last night and I came across this post: p078.ezboard.com/fsideshowfreaksfrm9.showMessage?topicID=6242.topic . Which is all fine and dandy until I saw this from DarkSyren:
Here's the story: I first started talkin to DarkSyren back when the Toy Fair giveaway started up. I IM'ed her on AOL and wanted to set a few things straight with her about my entry w/o haveing to edit my post. After that for some odd reason we started what I thought was the begining of a good friendship. We had alot in common, we were almost to the point where our minds were on the same wavelength. We had talked about displaying statues and I had told her my plans to build some of my own display pieces that where very custom and extravigant. She expressed interest in me making the custom cabinets she told you all about. The last real conversation I remember having with her lasted about 8-9 hours about anything and everything and ended on what I considered a good note. (we used to have intelligent conversations for hours on end)
After that she left for a vacation I think, with her parents. Ok, cool, no problem. And then a week went by, still no sign of Syren. Comes to turn out she mysteriously dissappeared from AOL, something about not wanting to talk to anyone on there and wanting to just write fanfics.... Ok, cool, still no problem I suppose, we talked eventually and she expressed to me she was still interested in getting cabinets even tho we don't talk on a daily basis anymore. Great! I even recall coming across a post on here that I really wish I could recall so I could quote where she said "I hope the guy that is making my cabinets can wait 5-6 months". If someone can help me out with that, it was a post someone made within the last month about cabinets they had gotten and posted pictures of if I'm not mistaken. Ok DarkSyren! Will do! I have a whole buncha small details to work out anyway...
Now I'll admit I didn't have a full workshop of my own tools to work with at the time, she knew that. I got a price list sitting right in front of me that is damn near in the $4000 range of all the tools I was going to acquire with money borrowed out of my 401K PLAN.... THAT IS FOR MY FREAKING RETIREMENT BTW!!!!! Just remember that because someone doesn't have the money to afford a shop full of tools, doesn't by any means mean they don't know how to use them. I grew up around woodworking. Well then after all that has been done, I gotta work on acquireing some shop space, which is what I was recently in the market for, and had started to see a light at the end of the tunnel before I came across that post. Keep in mind that in one point in time I almost signed a $300/month lease because I was that confident that I could make some great pieces for housing and storeing Sideshow collectables. I had also came across some plans for Texas Hold'em poker tables that I was going manufacture and sell on Ebay for a worthwhile profit. I guess I'm glad I didn't sign that lease, because I had another deal lined up to use some space at a reliable local business's garage that they used for nothing at all, but I already called that guy up and told him to wait on that idea since the events that have unfolded.
And while going through all that I was lucky enough to land myself a Bilbo, a GTG bust, and Sam and Bill at a GREAT price because Stacy from Shire Collectables rules! Since it was paid for mostly with credit I've been working hellish hours to pay for it. 7, 8 hour a day weeks for the past 3 weeks if anyone really cares... During all this she never dropped me an email, in fact she said that I "dropped off the face of the planet", which is odd. My name on AOL is missionxrxhx01, unless I'm at work or am asleep most likely I'm online. She never asked how things were going with the cabinets. She never asked how things were going in life. Nothing... But yet I'm the one that dropped off the face of the planet?!?! It must of been too hard for her to pop online and say "whats up?" "How's the business coming?" And for all of that she wants to make me look like the bad guy, I'm sorry, but I'm not... The only reason I'm even posting this is because I am going to try to get myself into business doing this. But I'm not going to rush it. I'm going to get myself setup properly before I try to market any kind of product. She made the remark of how shes was "just trying to help my ass out". Gee thanks... The fledgeling carpenter remark I found hilarious. I'll be sure to tell that one to my kids someday when I hand my general contractor busines that I plan on starting up someday when I hand it over to them. Because of the pride I take in my work, I'm not going to allow a reputation that I haven't even built yet get tarnished by someone that is as jaded as she is. No way, no how. And thats my 2 cents on that. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! I know I've been looking foreward to this long weekend off for the past 3 weeks, just sucks its gotta begin on these kind of terms. :bang
