I just want to remind everyone that some of our members are still on dial-up. Please don't quote a post with lots of pictures just to make a quick comment. If you want to comment on one or more of the pictures themselves, please delete any pictures from your quote which are not necessary for your comment. Also, it is no fun to have to scroll through a thread with lots of quoted pictures just to find the comments. Thanks for being considerate of other members.

Thank you! :bow

Even though I'm not on dial-up, I hate scrolling through threads where people reply to 4 or 5 BIG pictures with only some smileys... :monkey4

Dial-up is an ancient method of communication in which a computer is tied to a wall. It sucked.

Did they tie it with string? Or something more advanced, like duct tape?

Why is dial-up still legal?

Because big cable and telephone companies won't bring broadband to very rural areas that don't have a lot of homes per mile... they won't make any money.

I couldn't get high speed internet until last year where I live. Too rural. We still can't get anything from Cox.

It's all about the number of homes passed per mile... back in the 1980's when cable was first being built across most of the country, most cable companies didn't build anything with less than 50 homes per mile. In the 90's, than dropped to around 25 or 30 homes per mile. Now days, you have to be fairly rural, about 10 to 15 homes per mile not to have cable! :D I should know all this, I was a mapper for cable companies for 15 years!
