Communism is a failed system that cost millions of lives. On the other hand the world is not black and white. I'm really looking forward to the new indy. On the other hand i'm affraid of communists as villains since it could easily become way to patriotic. I hope this film will stay away from to much flag-waving, wich i as a non-american can't really buy. On the other hand indy was never portrayed as a patriotic kind of guy more a world-wise guy.

any thoughts?

I just wanna see Indy beating up commie pinkos whilst I munch on my huge tub of popcorn.

You're worried about Steven Spielberg making a jingoistic film?

:lol

Seriously, this is a non-issue. Put your fears of American "flag-waving" at ease. This flick will be all about the adventure and will feature little, if any, politics. And that's the way it should be.

It's not MICHAEL BAY's INDIANA JONES... Then there'd be a slow motion 360 with an American flag blowing behind Indy as he rises-- ready to drop kick some commies into the pits of hell like he just snorted coke off some prostitue's belly-- I did say it was a Michael Bay scenario right?

Yeah you people are right indy will never be about that:cool:

I don't think it will be a problem either. Indy was never really a flag waver. And if it does have an anti-communist slant it'll focus more on the negative traits that were mentioned in the original post.

I'm sure you'll hear complaints from Russian & China saying how this depicts Communism in a bad light. :monkey1

They probably won't have the movie shown over there.

Yeah, I seriously doubt there'll be any flag waving, overtly patriotic messages seeing as how the foreign market makes up a big portion of the earnings for these types of blockbuster movies.

Yeah, I think Indy is popular enough w/o having to use hyper-patriotism bring in the Nascar crowd :lol

Compare the treatment of Nazis in Raiders to that in Schindler's list--the Indy movies are just for fun. Spielberg has shown that he can make political statments in his films, but he just got some of that out of his system with Munich and I'm not expecting much in Indy IV.

"Communists - I hate those guys!"

Damn,thats sounds awesome!!!

Especially snorting the coke off of the whores belly:rock

Doubt it, you can't compare them to nazis! They even helped defeat the nazis. Not that Stalin, Mao etc.. weren't as bad as Hitler.

Well, considering that the best estimates of massacred civilians are between 6 and 10 times (for the USSR alone) that of the Nazis, I would have to say "worse" is an understatement.

"Anti-communist propaganda" is an oxymoron.

Let's not forget that one of the reasons the show got cancelled was its anti socialism position.

It would be refreshing to have an anti-communist position come out of Hollywood for a change.

Talk about a snowball's chance...

LOL

spielberg and lucas made the nazis look like bufoons, almost comical in the raiders films. and unless the new movie is set in the 50s, when the 'better dead than red' communist attitude was popular, we should see some more nazi bashing. :D

Behind the Nazis, Communists are the best choice for villains (at least ones that actually have existed...The Empire FTW!)

The movie is set in 1957.
