Yes. These are party of the upcoming INDY Heritage Cards set from Topps, which reprints the previous Indy movie cards along with some new stuff. Just like they did with SW a couple years back.
If you want a sketch card or two you will have to order a full box... and make sure you get the HOBBY Edition (for Comic shops and such).
Here's info on the set: Indiana Jones Heritage Cards (http://www.topps.com/ent/brands/IndianaJonesHeritage/IndianaJonesHeritageWeb.html)
And here's a list of all of the artists who contributed sketch cards: Sketch Cards (http://www.topps.com/ent/brands/IndianaJonesHeritage/IndianaJonesHeritageWeb-Sketch.html)

DAMN I love Adam's cards. I honestly look at those all the time. He did all of those in one weekend...it's like he invoked the spirit of Indiana Jones and it just took him over for two solid days. :D amazing.
I had fun with mine, and I'm glad you guys like some of them. I can't pass on Indiana Jones jobs...no way, no how. :)
the sketch cards will be spread throughout sparsely, so it's hard to determine how easy it will be to get your hands on some of them. I'm praying I get a Hughes card. :) But, then again, who isn't!?

I'm not real up on my card collecting... So how do the sketch cards work, are they just limited runs of each card, or if you get one are you actually getting an original piece of art?

you get an original piece of art. Pretty cool deal! There are a lot of great ones being done...
the artists get 6 cards back to do with what they wish. most artists will be putting some of the art on ebay once we're allowed to do so.

What do these cost per pack/box usually?
There are 24 packs per box. At retail, the cards are usually about $2 per pack. Each pack contains 7 cards and a stick of gum.
I ordered a full Hobby case (8 sealed Hobby edition boxes) off a dealer on eBay for $300. That comes to about $1.57 a pack and gives me at least 8 shots at cool sketch cards and other premiums (the ultimate are the Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas autograph cards).
If folks on here just want a complete set of the 90+ basic cards then I can probably hook you up on the cheap since I'll obviously have tons. :monkey5

thanks for the nice comments about the cards. I appreciate it. For a job that was really just meant to be a fun distraction, I'm glad they're enjoyed.

Is it 7 cards per pack? I read somewhere it was 5. I've ordered one box, and I'm hoping I'll get a full set of 90...if not I'll be in touch!
Did you hear anything about the other heritage boxes - the ones that come with magnets based on the vintage trading card stickers? I saw a post on throw me the idol a while back but haven't heard anymore about when they're coming out.

Yes, 7 cards per pack according to my supplier. You should be able to procure a full set of 90 (plus some bonuses) with a full sealed box. But if not I'm sure I'll be able to supplement you. ;)
The other Heritage sets with the magnets and vintage style stickers are the RETAIL edition (that will be for sale at department stores, drug stores, etc). That should be released at the same time as the Hobby edition. The Hobby edition is obviously more desireable because of the random sketch and autograph cards (which the Retail editions never have).
Hope this helps.

I've never preordered anything before in my life (from eBay), so it was a first for me.
By the way, what's a 'sequentially numbered parallel'?

For card sets like these, the prices generally remain the same as far as buying unopened boxes. It just depends on whether the initial printing sells out or not. And it might be a little tougher to buy them by the case after they hit.
I've never preordered anything before in my life (from eBay), so it was a first for me.
Well, they come out in just over a week (March 12... next Wednesday) so you don't have too long to wait. ;)
By the way, what's a 'sequentially numbered parallel'?
I'm guessing it's the usual deal where you collect a certain sequence of cards that, when put together, make up a single larger image.

The former. Paired sets are always split up as separate chase cards.
However, if you found one it's possible that the other may be in the same case (NOT the same box... the same case, which is 8 boxes).

I "pre-ordered" one sealed "hobby box" on eBay too Irish. If I don't end up with at least one full set of the regular 90 cards, can I talk to you about getting the cards I would need to fulfill one set? I usually like to get one set to keep for myself, and I put them in those card holder pages inside a 3-ring binder. Do you know if Topps is making a 3-ring binder to hold these cards? I hope so. It'll be cool to have an "official" one to store my cards in! :D

I've been staying out of this thread for a reason... I collected non-sport trading cards for over 30 years!! I quit just a few years ago because I got so tired of all the chase cards, and since I have a problem with being a completest, could never finish what I considered a set! Having just said that, Trev, Andy and Mark, your sketch cards rock and may actually get me to go after this set! I still don't like chase cards, but I can now put together a set without feeling the need to get every autograph, etc!

I'm watching some sketch cards on ebay by some of these guys. Some of them are going for insane prices like $800 and I saw one Ford auto someone wanted 10k dollars for.
Exactly! It was the Lord of the Rings autographs that finally pushed me over the edge and made me quit collecting! Of course, my original trading card artwork, display boxes, wrappers and sets (that I sold), funded my Sideshow collection for about two years!!! :rock

WOW! Those are really nice! I like the Sallah one the most! So is a sketch card or autograph guaranteed in a single box?
It's not "guaranteed" but from all the case breakdowns I've read the average is one or the other per box. I might be getting another box tomorrow so i'm hoping for an auto this time...

Topps definitely did some weird stuff in the packing of these cards. Out of a full case (8 boxes) I did end up with 9 special inserts (sketch cards/autos)... but two whole boxes had NONE and two others had 2 or more. Some people who only buy a box or two are going to be totally screwed (or very lucky). Also, Topps was VERY stingy with the Hobby sets... with only 5 cards in each pack, there should be 36 packs in a box and not 24. Bad form, Topps. :nono
Anyway, I opened up every pack last night. All 8 boxes. So, yes, I have tons of extra base cards. I figure I should be able to put together 4-5 extra base sets easily. I also ended up with 8 or 9 of the special numbered cards.
Here are some pics...

I agree with you there about buying a box and NOT getting at least one autograph card. I am getting one sealed "hobby box". I couldn't afford a full case of cards. So I am hoping to get at least one autograph. Yeah, everyone wants Harrison Ford. But I wonder what the odds are like to actually get his card? Anyone out there get a Harrison Ford autographed card yet?

That will be a miracle if you pull all of that out of one box. The most i've heard, and this is only one instance, is 2 autos in the same box. Otherwise it's pretty much one or the other. per box...

Topps used to have great collation in their boxes, but with the advent of chase cards in the early 90's, it all went to heck! They actually got back to better collation in the early part of this decade because of complaints, but you have to remember, the collation is being done by automated machines in some cases, and they can pick up more than one card and insert it into a pack or box, leaving the next box empty. It's not a perfect science, but they try to get an average collation per box. Just one more reason why I got out of trading cards a few years ago. Sorry for your bad luck.

The odds of pulling something just got to be so insane it wasn't worth it. If you wanted to pull something rare you had to spend $10 a pack for the top level cards. It took a ton of money to make sets because of this fact.

I was just expecting MUCH better from Topps with this set. I "only" bought one full case (8 boxes), but I feel totally ripped off. I can only imagine how people like 200man and others who bought even more than I did feel. I know of a guy who ordered 8 cases(!!) and he didn't end up with much of anything worth crowing about. That is inexcusable.
Conversely, I only ordered one BOX (24 packs total) of their "HEROES" cards, yet I not only got a complete set of base cards, I got all but one of the special foil character inserts and, get this... a Claire Bennett/Hayden Panetierre costume card! :google
Compared to that, the INDY HERITAGE set is a complete and utter... fiasco (there's that word again). :monkey3

I am pretty damn happy with the sketches I did get. I was on the fence about buying a pair of cases. I was tracking other people's case breaks on another site. They seemed to be getting good hits, so i dove in. The first case was the worst. I didn't even count parallels I got in the second case because I was pretty pissed off at that time. I did get a Karen Allen auto though so that was a bit of a comfort.
Topps dropped the ball big time on this. I am very hesitant about any KOTCS cases. I guess what it will come down to is how cheap I could score a case, but I am not going to throw money at it. I'll just resort to ebay or whatever to cherry pick the sketches I want (or can afford!)

Hey guys. Well, I got in my one "hobby box" of the Heritage cards this weekend. I opened them last night, and I got one autographed card from Roshan Seth, who played "Chattar Lal" in Temple Of Doom.
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z104/JediMike71/RoshanSethautographcard.jpg
Pretty cool since this is the first autographed card I've ever got. Sure, I would have loved the Harrison Ford one...but we all know how SUPER RARE that one is! Even Karen Allen, or John Rhys-Davies would have been great too. But I'm happy to get this one. But, I still may try to sell it on eBay, and see what I can get for it. Because I didn't even get ONE full set of the base 90-card set in my entire box! I could only afford to buy one box, not a case. I was hoping for at least one friggin' set of the base cards!
:banghead:mad:
I did also get one of the numbered gold paralled cards. I got the card number #37 from "Temple Of Doom" called "The Magnificent Pankot Palace". It is number 476/500 on the back of it.
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z104/JediMike71/PankotPalacecardback476of500.jpg
I also got the promo card "P2" called "The Great Discovery" showing Indy and "Mutt" on it. I guess it's not a "special" card, but cool to get it anyway. I'd like to get the other two promo cards from KOTCS, P1, and P3. Anyone have extras of those? Please let me know! Thanks!

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z104/JediMike71/IndyKOTCSP2promocardback.jpg
I didn't get one sketch card. I was hoping for at least one. But I know there is no guarantee of getting any special cards in one hobby box. Now, I know there's no guarantee of getting just one complete 90-card base set either! That's what really sucks for me! I remember buying one full box of cards for movies and being able to make 2 or 3 base sets. I'd keep one and give the other sets to friends. Not this time! I did get some duplicate cards. Here are the duplicate cards I got. If anyone out there needs them, let me know. Maybe we can trade for the cards I need to make one complete base set.
Here are the duplicate cards I have:
card numbers: 5 (I have two extras), 6 (I have two extras), 13 (I have two extras), 14 (I have two extras), 16, 21, 22, 23, 24 (I have two extras), 25, 29, 30, 32, 34, 37, 38, 40, 41, 43, 44 (I have two extras), 48, 51, 54, 55, 56 (I have two extras), 60, 66 (I have two extras), 71, 79, 80, 86, 89. So I ended up getting 40 extra duplicate cards in one "hobby box"! Gee, I woulda loved some of those to at least have been the cards I needed for the base set.
Here are the cards I need to make one complete base 90-card set:
card numbers: 2, 10, 20, 46, 47, 58, 59, 63, 68, 73, 76, 81, 82, 83. So, I need 14 cards to make the 90-card base set. If any board member out there has these cards, and will trade them with me...that'd be great! :D I can trade you for some of the duplicate cards I have if you need them. Please e-mail me, or send me a Private Message on this board. Thanks! :D

Plus I'm getting some sketch card with this master set when it gets here.

Thanks!! I was REALLY hoping to get one of either Trev or Jerry. I just got lucky enough to step into this one for sure. Now, if the other guy I brought from would just let me know if he mailed my set already.

I just won a Indy Sketch card of Indy by our own Trevor Grove :)
Which card by Trevor did you get? Will you post a picture of it here? The post you did a few posts up above mine here didn't load the picture properly. Thanks.
Anyone finding the retail Heritage cards in stores yet? I've checked both of our "super" Wal-Marts, and Target here. None. No empty retail box....nothing. Any news of finding them at retail stores? If so...where did you find them?

Yeah, I'll repost the pic using a different photo share program.

Yeah, that is a fabulous card Trevor! I love when he gets pissed off! Normally Indy and Harrison Ford are pretty relaxed guys from what I've seen over the years. Great work!
I'm on the hunt to find some Heritage cards at retail. Maybe some game stores carry them like Gamestop? Anyone have luck finding them there? Let me know. Thanks! :D

I collected sports cards for over 5 years and wasted thousands of dollars in the "pursuit of happiness" trying to score the big cards via packs. Josh did a sweet deal by avoiding the packs (though I would have insisted on getting a right to refuse a truly lame sketch card that the seller may try to pass on to you.)
For those buying many boxes or even many cases hoping to get Harrison, it might be smarter to wait a few years and see where the market is.
Unless you have the luck of a leprechaun its always better to just buy the card you want.

Yeah, I used up a lot of cash from loved ones and myself buying cards over the years. Though, I will say I was pretty good at pulling rare cards until they went to the way things are now. $10 packs with 3 cards and all. So now I just buy my sets on ebay and let it roll.
I would have prefered to pick my own sketch but it bothers me less knowing I managed to snag one of Trev's.

I was pretty good at getting good stuff too in my day, but at the quantity I bought it was impossible to compensate for all the packs that I would get squat.
I do remember landing some good stuff like a Gretzky autograph card, redemption cards for Kevin Garnett and Marshall Faulk autographed ***** (which I still have), etc.
These days, those autographed cards of atheletes are easily found for relatively cheap on ebay. Not sure why Harrison Ford is so different.

Yeah, the amount of money spent vs what I pulled probably doesn't even sniff balanced out. :lol
I was all about Jordan cards though. At one time I neared 2000 different Jordan cards.

Jordan was one expensive guy to pick!
I had my favorites too. For a while it was Manny Ramirez, until he left Cleveland. And it was Pavel Bure, until he blew out his legs. Lastly it was Garrison Hearst. I tried to get 1 of every Bure card for the longest time, then in 94-95 or so it exploded and it was all about refractors, artist proofs and etc. There was no way.

Yeah, of all the guys to pick I went with an exspensive one. Couldn't help it though I just loved the way he played and his approach. Before I sold most I had a couple cards that where limited to his jersey # which was cool.

Got my set today. Really nice set! My sketch card looks like a monkey I think. :lol Its pretty cool. The sig says it was drawn RW which I believe is Ryan Watterhouse. Will go great with my Trev sketch card. The parallel card I got was Marion winning the drinking game.

Gonna bump this thread. Got into this way late but I just picked up a box. Is it worth it to collect this? Are sketch cards still being found? I assume Topps had a limited run and what is out there is out there so I assume there are still a lot to be found? Or to get sketch cards do you pretty much have to use ebay now?
Also do stores still sell these are is online my best bet?

I have not seen any more of these in any of my local comic shops in a while... online seems to be the best bet... I got all of mine off of ebay when ebay was chock full of them.. that way I could just choose which art I wanted.. I ended up with a dozen or so.. what I got hooked on was the autographs... I got most of them.. just never snagged a Sallah, Willie, Satipo or any of the "big three"

Cool I ended up picking up two boxes for $10 a piece including shipping which I thought was an amazing deal just to give it a shot. I got one box so far, didn't draw any sketch cards but I did get a Julian Glover and a Vernon Dobtcheff auto cards.
I guess we will see what the other box will give me. If I can keep grabbing boxes at that cheap I may do it for a bit.

I grab the odd box from time to time when I can but being in the Uk makes the shipping prohibitive.
I snagged most of the autos off the Bay back when the set first hit. Other than the Big Three, I'm only missing Kathleen Kennedy and Lawrence Kasdan.
Also collect Jason Potratz and Jack Hai sketches (JP/JH on the cards), but they don't pop up that often for auction and the BIN prices scare me... :D I have around half a dozen of those.

I remember not snagging those the first few days they were on Ebay in the $70 range. Still kicking myself on that one. You know what they're going for now, I'm sure. I believe I saw one of them go for $400 once. That's just way too high, IMO.

Yea that is a little ridiculous. Did the autographs besides the big 3 have the same drop rate?
agent5

Yes and no. Since they started out in the thousands, they went down in thousands. I recall some of them selling in the $2500 range...maybe? I'm sure someone else here knows the exact amounts.
KrisSolo

Pricewise it all depends on how many of each card there were. Too lazy to find all the print runs now, but besides the Big 3, the next rarest were the Kennedy, Marshal, Kasdan and Alfred Molina - only 50 each of those hence the value.

Anyone notice fakes on ebay?
I see one guy selling two sketch cards and then another person is selling the same two but individually, I thought all sketch cards were 1/1?

They aren't fakes, they hired good artists to do 1/1 cards and then they have artists who do nothing but crap monkey and melting toht filler sketches, that are basically black magic marker doodles. Heres some of my collection.

Just goto the scoundrel art forums, the artists all hang out there. Find something you like on ebay, and if your not sure if its for real, drop the artist a pm to ask.
Most of them take commissions as well, heres an 11x17 I commissioned from Jeremy Treece.

I want to get the Toht sketch cards! And I wonder if one of these days, they make another signature card signed: Ronald Lacey. OK. I know that he's dead and all that stuff, but I am a cool fan of Toht! The only movies I have seen Lacey in are: RotLA and LC.
