How many of you guys are planning to make a base or diorama setup for Indy to display him in when he gets here. I was thinking of making a base with some simple ruins and overgrown jungle. Or maybe an egyptian temple with heiroglyphics. I think it would totally make the figure. Anyone else thinking about doing something similar?

I'm thinking of making a modest temple display from the beginning of Raiders. Styrofoam, some of that moss in a bag you find at the hobby store, grey paint... nothing too fancy.

I have a friend who pointed out to me that some of the props used in fishtanks work pretty well. I've been keeping an eye out at pet stores since.

Probably will create some jungle environment for him. You can buy allot of fake plants, rocks and such at model kit stores.

I wonder how much a decent set up would sell for.

i'd say depends on the materials. I think I'll use painted styrofoam that has been carved to looks like rock and such. Model shops do have a large amount of moss and whatnot that could be used. 12in scale skeletons might also be a good item to use.

Triad Toys made this base a while ago, I think it's more for a Tomb Raider custom but it kinda looks like the background from the Idol scene in the beginning of Raiders. I have one and I like it.

I don't have many 1/6 scale so he'll just dispaly with the other lines. I will make dioramas for the 3 3/4" line though.

What was the $$$ of that one? I remember seeing it last year and thinking that it'd make for a good 1/6 Indy background.

That Triad base is really cool. It'd make a great companion for Indy! I plan on displaying mine with this:

It's about 15" tall and 8" wide. I found it at a Target on clearance last year. Originaly there were three dowels just under that last relief holding it to a baseboard. So I sculpted the lower 3" and repainted it. It's not accurate to any of the films, obviously, but I can't wait to put him next to it!

Close to a Temple of Doom... nice find.

Checked it out-- only problem (and I remember thinking this the first time I saw it) is that's a little short/small. I'd like something to be intimidating if I use it in a diorama with the 1/6 Indy.

Yeah it's a really good base I love mine for my Tomb Raider custom, but I'm thinking I'll be making a Well of Souls display for Indy by the time he arrives

eesh, going scene specific would be an absolute pain in the ass for me because i'd be an incredible stickler for detail. Thats why im gunna go with a more generic scene, that way i can't be wronf

I found something similar to this today as I had my eyes scanning for anything that I could use to display Dr. Jones... Unfortunately the one that I found didn't have that base as it was raised up and I would have had to rig something for the lower part so I decided to leave it and keep looking. The one that I found was in a clearance in WINNERS (Targetesque store here in Canada) and it had the same Indian feel except it had two (count em--two) ladies--er... how do I put this? Fondling one another. Indy would have been distracted by that and probably gotten a poison dart in the throat so it's a good thing I didn't go for it.

Anyone else find anything useful to use as a base?

Interesting. Unless Sideshow changed the base, from what is depicted in the silhouette photo of the Indy PF (which looks like he's climbing stone steps) , this may not be the Indy base. I was thinking more along the lines of Jurassic Park.

Yeah, that has more of a LOTR or Jurassic look to it. Not so much Indy.

Yeah, could be the base for the next LOTR dio. Treebeard perhaps?

Sorry to smash your freak's hopes, but that's the base of the Wolfman PF.

I intend to carry my Indy around and stick pins in him. :joy

Ehh no I didn't know it because of that. I recognised it because I own the Silver Screen edition from the Wolfman PF. A quick check on the Sideshow website showed me that I was correct.

Just to be a diversion from the (seemingly) endless wait for next Friday and the PF PPO I thought I'd post a pic of something I picked up today that I might use as a backdrop for my eventually arriving (always waiting aren't we?:D) 1/6 Indy. As it was only $3 at WINNERS/HOME SENSE (Canuck store) I couldn't pass it up.

Here's a view from above...

One with Connery for the proper perspective...

Anyway, imagine spooky cobwebs-- Indy's EXCLUSIVE torch in hand... It could work...

A taste of things to come...
