08-31-05 EDIT: Well, it jumped to $2.99 a gallon for one day,
and NOW it has settled in at $3.19 a gallon due to the havoc
being wreaked by the hurricane down south. This must stop!

Howdy folks! :wave

Well, gas is at $2.80 USD per gallon for me, and is expected
to hit $3.00 per gallon soon. :curse :rage

That'll be $75 to $90 to fill up a regular ol' SUV.

How much is gas in your area, and how do you cope with it?

Fuel efficient car? Travel less? Complain a lot? All of these?

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

That's per gallon right?

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

Here, it's around 92p a litre so £3.68 per gallon (presuming you guys are measuring 4 litres in a gallon :p ) - though the UK average has just hit £4.00!

That works out around $7.23 / gallon.

Within Europe that puts us around the most expensive - with the Netherlands the most expensive place to fill up.

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

There are 3.785 liters in a US gallon.
In my city in eastern Canada the price this morning was $1.07 (CAN) per liter.
That works out to $4.05 (CAN) per US gallon.
If you convert the (CAN) $$$$ to (US) $$$$, I paid......... $3.37 (US) for a (US) gallon of gas.

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

Today I filled up at $2.49/gallon... I was not even half but filled up cause it will be up again today. So every penny I can save.

Unfortunately I have to work the next three weekends in Braintree and that will cost me some gas money. :(

I try to drive less and stay home more or at least stay more local if I do go out.

These prices are making me :sick

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

Here it's around A$1-20 per litre. Times four you say WS. Okay that's A$4-80 per gall or around US$6-40 per gallon.

Here the petrol is over 50% govt taxes, and add a 10% tax on the lot. These thieves, i.e. the govt, ought to be taken out and thrown over a cliff. Okay, petrol is at an alltime high, but their previous excuse was so thin. When comparing the price of a barrel, from ten years ago, there wasn't that much difference. Amazingly, somehow, it had doubled in price over that period. There's nothing they can do about it? Oh help me please. What about getting rid of the 50% taxes, which is what the Goods and Services Tax is supposed to replace. Here in Australia the economy is booming, yet the standard of living is dropping comparitively. What a load of kablooeuy.

I don't have a car, and never go out. It does impact the shipping and transport costs of everything else. So when are we going to get electrically microwaved water cars? Exploding water through microwave energy should give a car plenty of pow, not to mention replacing the burning of fossil fuels.

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

Prices hover about 90 cents a litre here.

That's 75 cents USD, per litre, or 0.2642 gallons.

uhg

I need a calculator...

okay that's 2.84 USD for a gallon. oh I'm tired now.

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

Yes, but what you have to understand with the UK/Netherlands/etc is that even though gas is double or more, the extra cost goes into things like Universal Healthcare. I don't think that you would find too many people here in the states that wouldn't pay $6+ a gallon if it meant Universal Healthcare. It is an absolute JOKE that we do not have it already :bang

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

Shorter distances to travel in European countries and better public transport as well. Most likely they use petrol prices as a disincentive to use the car.

They just announced the petrol will be A$1-30 per litre by the end of next week. :(

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

about $6,5 to $7 per gallon over here
:wave

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

75% of petrol prices are TAX.

Thats true L4P, there is no doubt we do enjoy a lot of benefits other countries don't. And having a national healthcare is probably one of the best. Having to take out insurance for every possible scenario...can't be a nice way to live!

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

Creech - you got the AUD vs USD conversion around the wrong way...

I wish our dollar was worth more than the US, but alas it aint.

Here's the accurate Aussie petrol cost comparison to the US gallon in US Dollars.

We pay 1.20 AUD per litre,
With 3.785 litres per gallon, we pay 4.542 AUD per gallon
Converted to USD = 3.429 USD per gallon.

So, our 3.43 USD per gallon is just a wee bit higher that the gas guzzling US. :lol

Looks like our country can afford some more SUVs. :rollin

But, in all seriousness, I think the price of petrol is kept 'lowish' for us by the Gov. to try and support the transport industry. Our truckies have some long distances to travel. Also, due to our weaker dollar, that price is quite high relative to average earnings etc.

And by the way, has everyone noticed a recent price rise as well?

Only a few months ago, it was around the 80cent mark, now its $1.20!

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

To damn much is how much it is here!
"There was a fight in pub in Ireland?Raise gas prices!" I swear they look for any reason now to have gas prices jump.

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

$2.50 - $2.60
Indiana

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

Here in South Africa it costs about R5.66 per litre

At 3.785 litres per gallon makes it R21.42 per gallon. Exchange rate today is about R6.48 to the US$ so that makes it approx $3.31 per gallon.

Daylight robbery!!!

Re: What does Gas/Petrol cost in your country/state/region/a

We're at about 1,50 euro per LITRE in the Netherlands now.

That's around $1,90 per litre so at 3.785 litres in a gallon I'm paying $7,20 for a gallon.

God, I HATE this country.....
