I think this guy is a great actor , he was excellent in Disturbia and transformers but is it just me or is he in too many movies ?.
I feel like every movie I have watched of late he has been in it.
I know some people think hes a great actor and has alot of potential whilst others aren't so keen on him.
So do you think he is right for indy and can he really compete with the annoying Chinese kid who would scream " INNNNDDDDDDEEEEEEYYYY ".
Personally I think its a good idea , with great acting for a great movie I think it will take your mind of who he is in real life and focus you more on who he is in the movie.
Yes or no , Labeouf for indy ?.
I'm not going to include a voting thingie as I think its unfair to dismiss him as a bad actor or good actor for those of us who are in happy or bad moods.
Also I haven't a clue how to add one into the thread :lol.

vader al nails it. he's a movie star and NOT an actor. it's too bad but this could have been a great role for river phoenix being that he was young indy. could have passed for indy's son with no problem and his acting skills were highly capable to handle the role.

I agree, I mean look how much he brought to Spike er' I mean Sam Witwicky? I am sure if Shia wasn't in the movie it wouldn't have been as enjoyable. Disturbia would have been just another run of the mill teen movie but I believe the kid brings a little bit of like ability to him in roles like Transformers and Disturbia. Look at every other human character (besides the parents) in Transformers they are forgettable except for maybe Tyrese. I don't know he seems fine besides it's not like he'll be saying yippee after he finds out he's no longer a slave and that his mom has to stay home and be a slave when he runs off with some stranger from outer space! Whew, run on sentence!

He's a pretty good actor with a good amount of range. Watch him in the Greatest Game, Disturbia, Even Stevens, Transformers.....he is pretty good and plays the same character about as much as any other actor widely used like Jude Law, Tom Cruise, etc. I wouldn't call him a movie star either yet....just someone who is on their way up. I'm interested in his performance for Indy although the role itself doesn't look promising...

I will say this, my wife offered to buy the figure straight up if SSC does a figure of him for their Indy Line.

When I saw Transformers, I thought Shia's character and acting was definitely the best thing in the movie, other than the AMAZING special effects.

Shia is a plus for me in the new Indy movie. I found him an interesting and promising actor in Holes (a mediocre movie anyway) and with the years, he's sshown there's a magnetic quality about him. I also think he's growing into a very handsome man. If he continues the Indy franchise, he'll be a huge star, if he doesn't he'll probably be a huge star anyway.

I find him to be a so-so actor that seems to pop up in a lot of movies. Honestly he's not terrible, but I kinda feel like Hollywood is trying to make more out of him than he really is.

And I know I'm in the minority of people that thought Transformers sucked, but he shares a part of my dislike for that movie. So for me, he's not necessarily a bad movie indicator, but at least an indication that the movie is trying too hard to secure the younger audiences... which usually doesn't bode well for the end product.

I thought Transformers was a horrible movie. But at the same time, I thought the special effects in it were the best I've seen since Jurassic Park.

I don't think he's "in too many movies". He's just being more noticed than before, he's a busy Hollywood actor now, like so many others, who appear in as much movies as him, or even more.

Maybe its just that 2 movies I've really looked forward to (TF and Indy) he gets popped into? But I just don't think he really adds much to a film, so maybe thats more of my issue. And maybe Irish is right and I'm just a hater :lol

I used to feel the same way about Matt Damon, but after the Sarah Silverman video I like him a bit more.

Shia is a pompous prick. He's lucky Spielberg decided to take him under his wing. I have no expectations for this fourth Indy movie (especially since it's so unnecessary), and Shia just makes the lack of excitement even stronger.

I like Shia as a comedy actor far more than an action star.

When I hear Shia's been included in Indy 4, I have my thoughts. Why not Justine Long. Now he looks more like Harrison at a younger age than Shia ever be. Having seen Die Hard 4, Justine's would be one to look out for in the future.

Shia's good honestly, but overated IMO.

As for Harrison, I would love to see him in a couple more Indy movies and of course, more of other movies. None of my heros are younger people anyway.... ok, except Jason Bourne.

i think i've hit the generation threshold. justin (from the mac commercials) is certainly NOT an actor and matt damon is marginally better than ben afffleck, who sucks. :huh the bourne movies are so bad, after walking out of the movies for the first one and missing the second, i decided to watch the third and it was like an extension of the first. crapolo. christ, doesn't anyone know how to make a good movie anymore other than the cohen brothers?

I remember being with my little cousins sat bored watching the disney channel and seeing him in all the shows. I would of never dreamed he would of been in some of my favorite movies. Disturbia , Transformers ( don't hate me , im a sucker for special effects , and love robots :lol ) and probably the new Indy. He did get lucky I guess with Spielberg but I don't think he would of picked him unless he saw talent in him and I think he was right too from what I have seen so far I'm really looking forward to seeing his future performances.

I thought I was the only one who felt this way. Everyone would always tell me how bad ass the bourne movies were, so I finally bought part one cheap from a used cd trader. Yikes. The whole trilogy is just him calling various people telling them he remembers what they did. I got what I was expecting with Casino Royale though.

I understand your argument and I meant no disrespect, I just wouldn't place Denzel Washington in that category...

Now the BUCKET CLUB duo of Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman are at the head of the class for playing the same guy over and over again (for Jack I'm talking recent Jack and not "classic Jack"). I would perhaps add to the list--woah-- Keanu, Tom Cruise (who has become a horrific caricature), and to a certain extent Bruce Willis.
