Yes, POLL madness continues. I'm just excited.

So who's your favorite key villain?

Spalko and whoever else ain't up yet, so pick for the oldies but goodies...or baddies.

That was his best line by far. :) He seemed so insane there.

Can't beat Toht though, sorry. The Creep. The Giggler.

I'm kind of surprised at how popular a character Toht seems to be. I don't remember him doing much of anything besides burning his hand and doing the typical Gestapo schtick. I'm not dogging anybody for liking him, just surprised.

Toht's great, don't get me wrong. I love that he is in Raiders. Best villain in there. But over Mola Ram? Nah! Not to me. Not by a long mile. :D
Plus, he has his own worship chant... with Thuggees waving madly...
MOLA RAM! MOLA RAM SUDA RAM!
THEN, he pulls dude's hearts out and dips them, still somehow living, in lava!

Beat that Toht! :D

Toht has a whole war machine behind him. And I'm sure he's pulled a heart out or two in his time. Plus, he's got the most memorable death in all of Indy-dome.

I'm pretty sure my dad took me to see "Trading Places-R" before "Gremlins-PG13" came out. My dad was/is cool like that. If only Phoebe Kates had a topless scene in Gremlins too, all nerd fantasies would be fulfilled.

Edit: I also remember being terified when I saw Raiders (specifically the melting face during opening of Arc/Ark scene) in the dollar theatre with pops when I was maybe 10, if that.

No, Temple of Doom was rated PG... It caused the PG-13 rating to be created. There was a lot of controversy because such a violent scene didn't earn it an R rating.

And I could be wrong, but I thought Gremlins was only rated PG too (weren't they released around the same time?). Parents brought their kids expecting to see a movie about cute little furry animals not realizing how violent it was.

You are right, Gremlins was PG, but similar story to Temple of Doom. Although I remember that I got to see the movie because a friend of my Mom's said it wouldn't be too bad for me to see (I was 5 or 6 at the time). I have to thank him for that :rock

From Wikipedia:However, the film has also been heavily criticized for some of its more violent sequences. Critics alleged these scenes made the film inappropriate for younger audiences who could be admitted into theatres under its PG rating. In response to this and to similar complaints about other films, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) reformed its rating system within two months of its release.

OK, Toht's death is stupendously delicious stuff! No denying...
But, "He pulled hearts out..." well, I didn't get to see that! LOL!
I did see Mola Ram do it.
And, do not forget Mola's death! I mean, DAMN! He falls and WE GO DOWN WITH HIM! Then to be eaten by crocodiles! GREAT STUFF!
So, Toht is not the only stupendous cinematic death here.
But, as your avatar reminds us all, Greg, it is the most shocking, and most deserved. I think that is why it lives on.

True. Spalko looks to be a return to the more stylized serial type villain.

Toht has to come with:

Hot poker
Luger
Hanger with 'medical' bag
Hand with burned Ra symbol
Melty face

Besides his suit, trechcoat, hat and little round glasses.

Toht is the best villian for me. Mola Ra, meh, has visuals, but Toht has all the memorable lines-- he may not have many lines of dialog, but they are ALL memorable.

Marion: Bar's closed.
Toht: We are - hehe - not thirsty.

Marion: What do you want?
Toht: Ah, the same thing your friend Dr. Jones wanted? Surely he mentioned there would be other interested parties.
Marion: Must have slipped his mind.
Toht: The man is nefarious. I hope for your sake that he has not yet acquired it.
Marion: Why, are you willing to offer more?
Toht: Oh, almost certainly. Do you still have it?
Marion: [blows smoke in his face] No.

Toht: Your fire is dying, here. Why don't you tell me where the piece is right now?
Marion: Listen, Herr Mack, I don't know what kind of people you're used to dealing with, but nobody tells me what to do in my place.
Toht: Fräulein Ravenwood, let me show you what I am used to...

[Toht is going to torture Marion with a hot poker]
Marion: Wait, wait. I can be reasonable.
Toht: That time has passed.
Marion: You don't need that. I'll tell you everything.
Toht: Yes, I know you will.

Toht: You Americans, you're all the same. Always overdressing for the wrong occasions.

Does it get any better than THAT?!

Oh, and I agree on the accesories that somebody posted a few pages back.

So I think it's pretty much expected that the next Indy announcement (Thursday? Please?) will be Toht. If they do the melty head, I'm really hoping that they do it as a very soft plastic/silicone skin over a blank head so that we can get drips that go all the way down onto his chest like in that pic.

Question for you all - what do you think the exclusive would be? Melty head? Collapsible coat-hanger? Staff of Ra headpiece (either the original or with markings only on the one side)? Or something else?
