See, this is what I'd like for complete series boxset. It doesn't make much sense making this for season 5, since it won't match the designs of the previously released sets...

I'd imagine they will have a set that looks like the rest as well and will probably be cheaper then that one.

Stores like Best Buy, Target and Fry's are always having sales. I find BD's for $9.99, $14.99 and $19.99, so the prices realy don't bother me.

It's not the Real 3d like in the theaters. The B.O.B. short is gonna be with the red/blue type.
Here's a good article discussing how the movie won't be in real 3D on home video (at least not yet):

There's a small chance it will be region free but i think only the US will get that box-set.

That's why it took me two months to finally get a PS3. I kept thinking about the import movies and it sucks that i will miss out on some great titles that will only be released in the US. I can still get them on DVD, though. But i can't just take them to Blockbuster and trade them later on when i can play the Bleu-Ray versions. I just hope Sony or whoever is responsible get off theere *** and make the PS3 region free.

If you're talking about HD-DVD, I believe both that and Blu-ray were launched around 2006. On wikipedia, it said HD-DVD came out in April while Blu-ray came out in June of that year. So HD-DVD was first for around 2 months. :D

This is the first time I've ever chose not to watch a movie because I don't have the Blu. As part of the new Diamond Collection criteria, each film will be thoroughly restored to the highest level of picture and sound, feature groundbreaking, state-of-the-art immersive bonus content, and include unprecedented levels of interactivity, personalization and customization only made possible by Blu-ray technology. The Disney Diamond Collection will represent a major transformation of the home entertainment industry providing families with more engaging, entertaining experiences than any other format.

Bob Chapek, President of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment adds, "Because today's family rooms are more technologically-advanced and consumer expectations are higher than ever, we are excited to announce the launch of the Diamond Collection. We believe that the collection offers consumers the opportunity to enjoy these timeless classics like never before, and underlines Disney's commitment to continue to bring the best quality product and immersive experiences in to the home."

Kicking off the new worldwide collection in October will be Walt Disney's first full-length animated feature film, the one that started it all, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Two titles will be selected each year, including Beauty and the Beast and Fantasia in 2010, as Blu-ray Diamond editions, each title will be released from the Disney vault for a limited time.

The new Diamond Collection takes full advantage of the newest breakthroughs in film restoration to exhibit these movies in Blu-ray Hi-Def, ensuring each film is digitally enhanced from their original negatives providing for the first time ever a pristine 1080p picture and Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound.

WDSHE is updating each Diamond Collection disc to contain newly branded features that offer a more immersive, user-friendly experience that will keep families entertained for hours. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 'Diamond' treatment includes:

Hyperion Studios, a 'Backstage Disney' feature, which allows audiences to be digitally transported to 1937 to discover first-hand the Hyperion Studios, the original studio Walt Disney himself built and where Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was conceived and developed. Viewers will virtually walk the halls of this historic landmark experiencing life at Hyperion Studios back in the 1930's. This "Backstage Disney" feature contains newly dimensionalized archival photos, animator recordings, archival transcripts and rare footage of Walt himself revealing how Disney's gifted filmmakers crafted the very first animated feature.

The Magic Mirror offers 'Smart Navigation', using the latest in Blu-ray technology, the iconic Magic Mirror guides the audience through the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Diamond Edition features with ease serving as the "host" for an incredibly immersive experience. The Mirror will recognize viewing patterns, knows where the audience has left off and will even suggest where to navigate next. This marks the first use of artificial intelligence in a Disney Blu-ray release and provides viewers the control to personally create a customized Snow White experience.

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall is one of 'Disney's Family Play' features, through BD-Live, this mirror can find the secret princess inside each viewer with a series of questions, then create for them a personal message from their favorite princess who will call them on the telephone. Additional Family Play features include, What Do You See? an interactive game, where players must untangle scrambled images and Jewel Jumble a game where jewels from the Dwarfs' mine must be put in order to win the game.

About Disney's New Blu-ray Diamond Collection:

The new Blu-ray Diamond Collection represents The Walt Disney Studio's most prestigious animated classics. The Blu-ray Diamond Edition Discs will be comprised of 14 of Walt Disney's most treasured animated classic titles to be released through 2016. These titles represent the highest level of picture and sound, feature groundbreaking, state-of-the-art immersive bonus content, and include unprecedented levels of interactivity, personalization and customization, only made possible by Blu-ray technology.

Man, thanks for the tip. I pre-ordered Snow White on Blu-Ray from Amazon when it was announced months ago, and it already shipped and is en route. However, Amazon priced it at $19.99 today (my card was charged $24.99), so I re-ordered it. With that promo code, it gave me a $19.99 credit, so Snow White was free. I don't understand Amazon's policy on this. I pre-ordered Snow White back in May. It has shipped, and I've been charged $24.99 (I haven't received it yet). No refund for me as of yet. Since you pre-ordered it, even though it has shipped, you should get the refund. However if you cancelled the order and did another one, I don't know that you'll receive it. In any case, it will take up to 10 days to go through to your bank account or credit card.

Walmart Gets Exclusive Transformers 2 IMAX Blu-ray

Posted October 7, 2009 01:21 PM by Josh Dreuth

Michael Bay According to "nelson", the forum admin for the official Michael Bay forum (and confidant of the world famous director), Walmart has exclusive rights to sell the IMAX version of 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' Blu-ray. This version is roughly a minute longer (featuring extended fight sequences) and will "open up" the aspect ratio during IMAX film scenes (similar to 'The Dark Knight' Blu-ray).

'Revenge of the Fallen' is currently scheduled to hit store shelves on October 20th.

Just read this on the DigitalBits Rumor page, and I got so excited I had to post it here!

Okay... so, a day after the April 2010 release of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (theatrical films) was announced by Warner Home Video, we're going to look farther ahead - out to as far as 24 months - to consider what's in the works software-wise for the Blu-ray format. I want to stress that all of this is, of course, subject to change given that we're still WELL in advance of official announcements. But with the holiday season upon us, which means that LOTS of new consumers and enthusiasts are buying BD players and joining the Blu-ray Disc community, we wanted to hint at some of what's in store for the year or two ahead in the way of catalog releases.

So let's start with what we think are the most exciting developments first. Based on information gathered from scores of industry sources over the last few months, we have strong reason to believe that Lucasfilm and Paramount are planning to bow the classic Indiana Jones Trilogy on Blu-ray in 2010, followed by at least some or all of the Star Wars films in 2011 (either the classic or prequel trilogies... or possibly even the long-awaited complete saga box set). As we've already been reporting for a while now, Fox's Alien Anthology box set is also due in 2010. And with the two Hobbit films due in 2011 and 2012, it's reasonable to assume that The Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions will be out on Blu-ray by the end of 2012 as well. One can also expect that the studios are going to try to capitalize on the DVD/3-D Blu-ray release of James Cameron's Avatar (sometime next year) to bow other Cameron catalog films in HD, so possibilities could include The Abyss, True Lies and even Titanic. What's more, in addition to the Indy films, our sources say that you're very likely to see key additional Spielberg catalog films arrive on Blu-ray in 2010 and 2011, as the director is a major supporter of the format. Word is that Jaws, the Jurassic Park films, War of the Worlds, Minority Report and Saving Private Ryan are all possible suspects. We also know that Apollo 13 is coming to BD early next year from Universal (April will be the 40th anniversary of the original NASA mission), and with the original Back to the Future film celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2010, don't be surprised to see at least one (if not all) of those films as well. And that doesn't even begin to include all of the vintage classics being prepared by Warner, Sony and other studios for BD release - including Ben-Hur, The African Queen, Lawrence of Arabia and others - nor the classic Disney animated features already announced for release in 2010 and beyond. Bottom line... the next few years are going to be HUGE for major catalog titles on Blu-ray. So start saving up your money now, folks.

As always, the above information is to be considered unofficial and subject to change until the studios in question make official announcements. Stay tuned...

To finally have True Lies in high definition AND an anamorphic transfer would be just awesome. I HATE the DVD. :lol:rotfl

Oh, yeah and of course every other movie that is mentioned here: Star Wars, Spielberg movies, Aliens, etc.

I'm not buying LOTR Blu until the extended versions are out. Got suckered into that with the DVDs and won't do it again.

Star Wars....well George likes money, he knows how to hold out on us until we're most vulnerable...then he lays something out to sucker us in... then he re-releases it with something "new" so we buy it again. Yet regardless of the moaning, I can never resist more Star Wars stuff.

^^^You can tell by my name which series I'm a bigger fan of. Thing is with the LOTR the regular editions will not only come without the extra footage, but without extra "making of" and other featurettes that were only on the Extended editions.

George just makes stuff up on the fly to add in to each rerelease.

You think the initial Blu will have the CG Yoda, or will it take a few releases? :naughty

I have to give a double thumbs up to the UK import of the Battlestar Galactica complete set. Its a bit cheaper than the U.S. version, has the same A/V quality, better packaging, and--- an all important booklet that tells you what episodes/features are on each disc.

Classic Disney Blu-rays Delayed

Unfortunately, it seems a few animated classics will be coming to high-definition later than anticipated.

'Dumbo: Special Edition' was supposed to be released this month, but Disney now says the lovable big-eared elephant won't be soaring to Blu-ray until February of 2011.

Other titles to be delayed are 'Fantasia' and 'Fantasia 2000' which have been pushed from March to December.

I'm more interested in the Fantasia titles than Dumbo, but I'll get them all whenever they're released.

I would like to see Disney give us some of their more recent titles on Blu-ray, like Lilo & Stitch or Mulan. They seem to be focusing on the 60-70 year old titles when it comes to catalog releases so far.
