I've wondered about the scale too. looks more like 1/8 scale to me. If you stand it next to gandalf it is definately not 1/6. The cave troll statue is also bigger than the balrog too so what scale is the balrog?:dunno

It's not 1/6 scale but not sure what it is...there is
a skull on the base as well as an arrow but haven't
done the math.

Compare the skull to the Gimli statue. Assuming it is a dwarf skull. If the skull is about 1/2 the size of Gimli's head, and he's 1/6th scale, that would make the Cave Troll 1/12th scale.

One thing that makes me think it's 1/6 is the hammer. I have the CT hammer and in the box it says 1/6. I have compared both pieces and the hammer of the statue is exactly the same size of the other hammer. Maybe it looks smaller because the troll is in a bent position. If he was standing straight he would be much bigger.

yep, Rod... The Hammer is supposed to be 1/6 so that have to be the easiest way to figure out the scale of the CT

Good call Rod. Yes, the CT has a bend in his knee in some what of a slouched over position where as Gandalf is standing fully erect. He He... fully erect. That brings back bad memories of that awful video...

I've always thought the CT was 'kinda close' to 1/6- but smaller, despite the hammer being supposedly 1/6(I think that's smaller too)
1. Imagine the Legolas statue standing on the CT's head- it's just way too big. And Legolas is in strict 1/6 scale with the other human figures.
2. GTWSF is much taller than the CT right? Imagine Shadowfax came running through the mines and reared up before the CT- would he be taller?
Sure he is crouched over in the statue, but that's kinda the cave troll's normal poster anyhow.

EXACTLY GAB!
Legolas is always what I use when I think about CT scale. It would look absurd to have the Legolas statue ontop of the CT because they are far too closely related size wise.
Because of this, i would say that the CT is closer to the 1/12th scale... despite the size of his hammer

Well, technically, it wasn't Legolas who was on top of the Cave Troll, it was Merry and Pippin, but I do agree that the scale can't be quite 1/6. Here's a frame from the scene (about the best I could get, considering how much frenetic motion is going on throughout the scene). It shows Merry about to be pulled off the CT's back, but it gives a pretty good idea of their relative sizes:

Well, technically, it wasn't Legolas who was on top of the Cave Troll,
Didn't Legolas climb on the cave troll via the chain, and shot him from that vantage point? Or am I imagining things?

I'm almost positive that Legolas stands on the Cave Troll and shoots an arrow down into him, which bounces off of his thick skin. I haven't watched FOTR in forever, though, so I could be wrong.

Oops. My bad. I was thinking of the kill shot, where Legolas shoots him through the roof of his mouth. You're both right. He did jump on the CT's back early in the battle:

you guys are correct, Legolas runs across the chain and
stands on the CT's back

You know, looking at the second screen shot, the scale of the Legolas statue looks closer to the same scale as the CT bust, rather than the CT statue (of course, I don't own the statue, only the bust, so this is somewhat speculation on my part). ;)
