Any new LOTR box set will happen on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. PJ has said that they have basically maxed out DVD and they're waiting on HD technology as the next step.

Maybe SS will make a Faramir Statue for the Set. Anyway, I remember hearing about this but I forget the details.

Really looking forward to seeing this happen quickly - any other news pls post in this thread.

And for Gods sake lets stop talking about Faramir - it wont happen -- they've reiterated that.

This is old news. We all know PJ wants to do a HD version of LOTR one day. Its just a matter of time.

Reading the posts on the other forum, it sounds as if some people are expecting (or at least hoping for) some more scenes to be added to the films. But unless things have changed, PJ was pretty adamant in some earlier quotes that there would be no more changes to the films. They were all done as far as he was concerned. Maybe some of the wished-for scenes could appear as deleted scenes in some unfinished form, but not as part of the films themselves.

Obviously it'd be great to have the missing scenes incorparated into the films, but I'd be happy with a dvd of just the deleted scenes with commentary from PJ.

The only change I want for any future dvds are for the Frodo and Aragorn scenes in TTT and ROTK to be seperate, Aragorns story on dvd 1, Frodos story on dvd 2, like how the book plays out. Not because I have a hard time understanding the story but because I think they could get a hell lot more out of character growth if we stay with one storyline. I've heard of people saying they were annoyed because just as they were getting into the Frodo/Gollum relationship, the film cut back to another part of middle earth totally.
I know the films couldnt have been done like this but for a special dvd I think it would be quite cool. Would also give more meaning for the Mouth Of Sauron :D

It only makes sense that the HD release is his last chance to tinker a bit for a long while. I for one hope he does get to "polish" a little, coming back from time away with a fresh eye and hopefully a little budget to work with. I know many will say no-thanks to any more changes though.
