As Darklord Dave says and I agree, this just may be Figure of the Year.

It is simply a Classic and deseves it's own Image thread. And as many of us are getting ours now, why not Honor KaL El's Father with a tribute thread?

Took a bunch of shots, here are the first from today's batch...

Of course, there have been some amazing pics posted by fellow freaks so please swing them over here. And yes, this does belong in the Superhero Section, let's hope some day we may have one.

Shouldn't this be in the Superhero section?

Agree, he is a awesome figure. The only nitpick (other than no accessories) is the skin tone is a bit dark.

A great figure that I don't think anyone was ever expecting to be made. Hot Toys never fails.

I know, it almost brings tears to my eyes to see them reunited like this. Have we ever seen such an image? Not so sure. One other thing, I just sort of realized, but always knew, how very rare it is to see such a Magnificent Portrait Sculpt, seriously, this is dead on rare Artistry.

Does the suit material reflect light in any way?

Yes, it definitely reflects light. Catches it with some angles and in others throws it back. Still need to see the effects with lamps and such.

This as some of you know is the Famous #2 Figuremaster Les Christopher Reeve Superman Tribute Figure. I have only removed it from it's box three times;

When it arrived in Nov 2005,
When Superman Returns Opened and
Now, to reunite him with his Father. :D

I don't agree with figure of the year. Far more superior figures released in the past year. Face sculpt and/or likeness of the year, I certainally could agree with.

Thanks Reiny, the crystals are temps I guess. I used the hard clear plastic tube which came with the Aqua tech tank filter I used for Aliens grate flooring and cut them at angles. Used green marker on one.

Appropriate as Jor El and Supes are Aliens too. :D

thanks bro! I bought these stained glass green pieces from Michael's. I then cut one of them to the approximate size of the actual crystal (and cut myself in the process). sanded down the sharp edges and buffed them to bring the shine back.

I like the crystal. What comes to mind was being a kid in the 70s they had a gem polishing kit that I think would round out the edges and polish that up to be even closer to screen accurate.

Tried the blacklight thing. It didn't glow much at all, if at all. I was surprised actually, considering how white it is. It must be that the plasticy sort of coated cloth, stops the ultra violet from getting through to the cloth itself.

I just bought a quartz crystal, for a couple of bucks, from a souvenir store. They had a section of various stones and minerals (offcuts). You could try a lapidary club, or a science or hippy/alternative/wicca type store.

I see him every now and then for around 150 shipped, but that's more than i can really afford at the moment.

That probably as cheap as you're gonna see him now that he's sold out most places. (and if your a fan it's worth every penny)

But never know keep an eye out.

yeah, tys2 has him for 150 after shipping, ebay's the same. I don't mind paying that price, but he seems to be sitting at that price, So i don't need to hurry. I can pay off my sideshow/1/6th figure credit card first :)

Looks like this guy is becoming a tad "rare" or "spendy" I can't seem to find much of him anywhere even ebay and he's spendy there.

And bump because this place is too damn bat saturated. :)

Easily, and by far, the most elegant and accurate figure in this scale I have ever owned. I could'nt live with the Returns \S/ shield so customised mine with the original shield from Superman: The Movie. This was not an easy task as that baby is stuck, stitched and backed and had to be all but surgically removed. Other screen accurate futzing includes the ditching of the robe - hoiking up the trousers to reveal the boots and the addition of a genuine scale crystal. Enjoy...

I'm starting to think HT has a thing for Brando now. First this, then the 1950's and then the Godfather. I don't really see any other reason why we got a Jor El over a Spacey Lex Luthor other than HT are Brando fans.

I suppose the same could be said for James Dean since he has three figures as well. Funny how nobody complained over the third Dean (or Brando) yet there is a bunch of whining over the third Joker.

Each Brando figure was from a different movie/license. Same goes for the Dean figures.

Definitely don't trust them. If the price is too good it means you won't get it, they'll just say it got damaged and they'll refund your money. They're crooks.
