Cave Troll on the up

Been watching this for a couple of days:

I've always thought that the Cave Troll is the best ie better than the Balrog. Forgetting about current market value, I would take a Cave Troll over a Balrog any day of the week but maybe the day of the Balrog is over. Long live the Cave Troll.

Not to mention that there are a lot less avaialable than the Balrog.

Firstly because of the edition size 750 CT vs 1.000 Bg) and second because of the many damaged CTs out there...

I don't have either of those statues but I have to agree I would much rather have Cave Troll than the Balrog, even if it meant paying more for the Cave Troll. I don't care in the least for the Balrog. To each is own....

I really want them both And one day I will have them!

I have both, and the Cave Troll, is by far the best. It deserves to be the most expensive.

That's your personal preference based on owning them and seeing them in person but I bet when each were available for pre-order you prefered the balrog, just because you couldn't see them both in person at that exact time!

Unless you got them after they sold out, which makes me wonder really if you could possibly actually have liked the look of the cave troll on Sideshow Weta's site over the balrog's look on the site.

Either way, I'm glad you have voiced your opinion.

Getting aggressive are we Nemo.

Yeah, when all the old school were up for pre-order I was more
interested with the Balrog, the beauty of the piece. So I pre-ordered
the Balrog, RWOS, and the Watcher. I still wanted to get the Cave Troll
has I loved that to, I still don't know why I didn't order the CT instead of
one of the other two. I think I convinced my self I would get it from a
retailer in the U.K. Then again didn't and as their months went by the
price got higher.


The Balrog is still in my to three statue's, but seeing the CT in face to face
it definitely as a big edge. If you have seen the Cavey in real life you should
know what I mean.


Well, I hope so as this obsession you have with your dealy beloved Balrogs superiority, over every collectible, is really starting to piss me off.

Can we stop praising the Cave Troll until that auction is over. Ya aren't makin this any easier. I've been waiting a long time to find one located in Canada. I'll have to do some serious overtime to afford that one!

I prefer the Balrog.

The ultimate bad creature and the pose is just outstanding. Also, a lot more important to the LOTR story than a random troll with a big hammer.

I think its a disgrase that SSW sold-out and made a baby Balrog, very pathetic... but eh :\

The risk with the CT is the arm breakage, and unless I could pick one up in person, I couldn't justify the gamble.

the only thing that could have been better than a cave troll would have been a full size mordor troll, but i think that would be to big....
i believe the trolls of mordor are bigger than cave trolls

Now I hate to disagree, BUT here goes:

The "best" or most "iconic" pose for the Balrog would have
been when he flamed up on Gandalf at their confrontation at
the Bridge at Kazad Dum.

THAT would have been an OUTSTANDING pose.

As it is, the Balrog is a slouchy, crouchy, folded-winged critter,
that isn't NEARLY as imposing or menacing as he was portrayed
in the movie, and isn't in his "signature" pose.

Discuss :speech (politely!)

As I mentioned a while back, the Baby Balrog is the poor man's Daddy Rod and, quite frankly, it's like a piddly little beetle.

I bought it and sold it straight away as it is not in scale with the majority of the statues and, for this reason, along with the fact that it looks undominating, that I would not consider it worthy to gather dust in my room.

I was referring to the Daddy 'Rog in my post above.

The Udun version even worse, in comparison to the Cave Troll Statue.

Considered by themselves, they are good, but they pale when
compared to the mighty Cave Troll.
