It's slow going, but REALLY fun and I get a thrill watching the transformation take place, slowly but surely going beyond what I could normally think of myself making (which is pretty much zilch, zip zero nada..) and so, here are a few pictures of my work in progress....

<img border=0 src="https://sideshowweta.nemonint.com/photoalbum/projects/faramir/faramir-14.jpg" />

I spent a day or two on the face. Starting from <a href="https://sideshowweta.nemonint.com/photoalbum/projects/faramir/faramir-01.jpg" target="_new">this very abstract looking head</a>, then I experienced <a href="https://sideshowweta.nemonint.com/photoalbum/projects/faramir/faramir-04.jpg" target="_new">a momentary vision of Darth Sidius</a>.

Then I got it to something reasonable of a <a href="https://sideshowweta.nemonint.com/photoalbum/projects/faramir/faramir-08.jpg" target="_new">face-on-the-front-of-a-head</a>, followed by the mashing of a whole bunch of stuff around the bottom of an inverted plastic cup.

Then <a href="https://sideshowweta.nemonint.com/photoalbum/projects/faramir/faramir-09.jpg" target="_new">I stuck the head on without the hair</a>.

Later after giving the body a bit of a shape and slightly smoothing out the surface, I scratched a bit of <a href="https://sideshowweta.nemonint.com/photoalbum/projects/faramir/faramir-11.jpg" target="_new">the clothing design into the body</a>.

And so here it is just about exactly (not totally) as it is <a href="https://sideshowweta.nemonint.com/photoalbum/projects/faramir/faramir-13.jpg" target="_new">at this moment</a>.

edit - actually that's wrong, that pic with the brick wall above is from a day ago. I've worked on it since then a bit.. the pic of it on the car is the latest look..

Here's the <a href="https://sideshowweta.nemonint.com/photoalbum/projects/faramir/faramir-16.jpg" target="_new">facial closeup</a>!

I kept this project under wraps since I started about 6 days ago or thereabouts, but I have seen a lot of great stuff online today that made me want to post this.

Great work, Nemo! :rock :clap

I see alot of people's prayers being answered if you decide to cast copies once it's completed. ;)

Looks good. Is is going to be Gandalf the White of Gandalf the Grey?

Right now, it's Gandalf the Black. Next time I try doing a human I won't use black sculpting material. It's okay for Orthanc, but... it's awefully hard to comprehend the thing as a finished work when it's... BLACK!

I'm glad everyone likes it so far (at least those who have posted.. thanks for your compliments <img border=0 src="https://www.maxwellsgoldenhammer.com/emo/bow.gif" /> )

I was on another board and saw someone's Gandalf the White bust.. that was to die for. well, if you have someone willing to die for it. It's REALLY good. Definitely kicks Sideshow Weta's... even though I have it and it's amazing!

I'll post more pictures in a little while. Maybe when I get the likeness closer.

No, he's making Aragorn. You can see by the clothing he's made for it. (right? because I see the clothing has been removed again in the last shot...)

Nice work btw! I still have 2 packs of super sculpey here somewhere but I still havent found the guts to do anything with it...

I can't see any of the images! :sick

Is it just me? I'd really like to see these as it might help me with my own project. I know I'm trying to do Treebread but I like to see how other people work just in case it gives me an idea on how to work.

Psycho Cenobite :ent
