Traveller's Tales did such an amazing job with the Star Wars games, that I have nothing but the highest of hopes for this (and the upcoming "Batman" version as well):

OT: I heard that the LEGO Batman game will include all the incarnations of Batman... from the early comics, to the 60's show, to the Burton movies to the new movies. And that rocks. :rock

Can't wait to play the INDY game. This style of game is perfect for Indy.

Looking forward to this with very high expectations. The SW games are quite cool and have been a blast to play over and over. I love how on the CS SW game you can play as Indy which I've done several times now.

I'll get the Batman one too just because these Lego games are just mindless fun.

We need to play SW: TCS co-op on LIVE sometime. :rock

I'll assume that the INDY and BATMAN games will also have drop-in online co-op modes as well.

The Josh

Yeah, we need too. Was hoping I would have time during my break but that didn't happen.

I hope so cause these games are perfect for online play if you just want to screw around.

Seriously, though... some of the puzzles in the SW games were pretty clever. You have to imagine that they will up their game for INDY given the subject matter.

The Josh
12-31-2007, 02:16 PM
There are some parts of the SW games that really pissed me off with trying to figure that stuff out. Which means the Indy ones will probably just add more 2 that. :lol

IrishJedi
12-31-2007, 02:28 PM
Well, as long as they keep it honest to the mythos of the movies I'm fine with it. In other words, many of the puzzles in the SW games had you rely on your knowledge of the characters to figure out. I really like that about it.

Oh yeah! Keep it to where you have to know something about the characters is the way it should be. Going the other way with these games is a fear because they do tend to be more on the goofy side of things.

I will definitely be picking this up to play through with my son. We have had a lot of fun playing the Lego Star Wars games and I'm looking forward to this a well. I had a good time playing the Lego Star Wars game with the unlockable Indy character and hitting stormtroopers with my bullwhip.

You have to collect a lot of the gold bricks and then "build" the different game portals in the bonus cantina room. There are about 6 additional playable game levels in there.

The Josh

He's an unlockable in the new complete one that came out a couple months ago.

IrishJedi
01-04-2008, 01:05 PM
Right. He's in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, which includes both previous games, upgraded graphics, plus lots of other bonus stuff.

To unlock Indy, you into the Bonus Cantina room and watch the LEGO Indy trailer. After you watch it you can then purchase Indy as a playable character in the cantina (I think he's like 50,000 studs... which is pretty much nothing).

I've now unlocked all but two characters: Anakin Force Ghost and Yoda Force Ghost. But it will take about 2.5 million studs to get both of them.
I'm not sure I'm prepared to continue playing the game enough to get those. Maybe I'll just let my son play on my Gamertag. :lol

This isn't a "Star Wars" case where the first game ends at an obvious stopping point for a second game. When the 1-3 game came out we all knew a 4-6 game wouldn't be too far behind and it wasn't.

With Lego Indy it's totally different. We have 1 game comprising of 75% of the previous films. If that's the case than I don't see how you could make an entire game out of 1 movie. If anything, the Indy films have always had a problem lending themselves to video games compared to something like "Star Wars". Remember the "Super Star Wars" series for SNES? Each "Star Wars" episode got its own game but the equivalent Indy game had all 3 films in one.

In any case, I can see them doing two things:

#1 (the more fan-friendly way): release "KotCS" content as a premium download through Xbox Live, etc.

#2 (the more money-grubbing way): make everyone buy a "Complete Adventures" game including "KotCS" content a few months down the line.

Honestly, I see them going the #2 route... but also adding some additional content to the INDY 1-3 levels, much like they did with the latest LEGO Star Wars release.

Has anyone seen any platform comparisons on this game? I think I want to get the Wii version because it will be easier for my son to control, but if there are more features on the PS3, I might be swayed to go that route.

I can't imagine the graphics would be that different platform to platform...

The Wii will not support high definition graphics, so I would never buy a game for the Wii if it was also available on the 360 or PS3. It will look ten times better in 1080p.

Most games on the Xbox 360 and PS3 are actually rendered at 720p or lower, Halo 3 in fact is rendered at 640p. This is a pretty simple game though. I would think the Wii has the power to run the same content as the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, end if it can't it's not really an issue, the key here is gameplay.

Picked mine up at Wal-Mart at 8:00am this morning. I'm not gonna play it until the wife comes home. We are going to play it together, like we did with the Lego Star Wars games.

This might even be a better co-op game than the Star Wars ones, as many of the puzzles require separate characters with special abilities. You guys will have a blast.

Irish, are you playing solo? How much a pain is it bouncing around from character to character solving the puzzles?

Just finished RAIDERS.

It's actually not that much of a pain since they changed it to where you don't have to be right next to the other character to switch. Now all you have to do is hit the "Y" button from anywhere on the screen.

Nice, that pisses me off to no end with the Star Wars ones when all the other characters besides you are in a crowd, you have to keep cycling because you get everyone but the character you're trying to get. I really hope Aspyr develops it for MAC.

You have to drive one of the trucks. You have to beat up all of the Germans until one of the drivers gets out. You then take him out and then hop in the front convoy truck and accelerate to the next group of trucks. You have to repeat this 2-3 times on that level.

I must say, this game is considerably more difficult than the SW ones in certain ways. And by that I mean young kids are going to have a heck of a hard time. The Mine Car level was giving me fits. And now I'm stuck on figuring out how to deal with Mola Ram on the rope bridge.

The LEGO Batman Trailer is included in this game, by the way. :rock

There's no magic to it, really. These games are just a hell of a lot of fun and extremely entertaining. They also have more replay value than most games. Traveller's Tales is kicking ass with this LEGO series, though I hope that they make "Batman" a little more accessible for kids, like the SW games. I having to rely on real gamer instincts a bit too often in the INDY game. :lol

Not sure if it was brought up, but here's what I know.

All of these codes are for things that can be regularly unlocked during the game. I was surprised myself that they would make us buy copies at their store to have a special unlock, but then I looked into it. Bullcrap. The thing with these codes is that you can just unlock them right away. An oh yes, Circuit City has ceremonial robes Belloq. At least CC has the free shirt. WEEE!!

So far, there isn't a level in the Indy game that my son can get through by himself. The puzzle solving or skills needed to finish have all been just a bit above him. I'm enjoying it when I play, but it's been a little frustrating for him compared to the Star Wars games. Not too much, just a bit.

I'm pretty sure that the HULK game will be as crappy as the IRON MAN one was, unfortunately.

BOURNE looks interesting. I downloaded the demo and it's entertaining enough, but I don't know if it warrants a purchase.

As for the other two... I've never been into the MGS games and I don't have the patience for NINJA GAIDEN anymore (I'm too old and too busy to have to replay the same level 72 times in order to beat it). :p

The game on the horizon that I'm really looking forward to (since LucasArts has apparently screwed the pooch with FORCE UNLEASED) is RE5. :rock

The difference is that movie-based games are rushed through both design and development 95% of the time. That's why most of them suck.

Ultimate Destruction ftw! However, that was developed by Radical Entertainment, while this new one is a Sega project (the same guys who brought you Iron Man) being developed by some company I've never heard of (Edge of Reality).

I got stuck earlier on the "Ancient City" hidden level. The one where the goal is to collect 1 million studs. I was less than 8,000 short but for the life of me could not figure out how to get in and use that flying contraption with the bat wings. I KNOW that's all I had to do to complete the level and acquire the hidden achievement. Gah! A whole hour wasted. :(

(The "Young Indy" level is pretty darn cool, though! I haven't unlocked the 3rd hidden level yet, which is supposedly the warehouse)

Well, I don't know. But I liked the fact that I had the option to play pretty much any level in any way I wanted (and with any of the unlocked cheats and such). Plus, a couple of those bonus levels took forever to find everything in. It's been about 3-4 months and I still can't bring myself to play it again.
