After seeing this in person, couldn't get it out of my mind. Found one at retail and grabbed it. Just got in today. Wonderful piece. The depth and detail of the sculpt is amazing -- the pics cannot capture it. Virginia Lee has definitely inherited her gifts from her dad.

Only problem....sucker is so heavy, I can't imagine putting it on a wall; I'd worry constantly that it'll fall off. But I'll figure out a way to display this baby.

Congrats Rumi!! This is the one plaque I would like to get myself. I love that little bit from the LOTR.

re

Nice to hear yet another member has gone for this beauty. It sure is a lovely piece...and will look great alongside the 'Flight from Isengard' plaque. Enjoy!:toast

Re: re

I got mine not too long ago, I love it! I think some decent drywall hangers would do the trick.

One of my all-time favorite pieces!

Same with one of my friends who really can't tolerate The Lord of the Rings. It bores him or just at least doesn't interest him very much. But he does appreciate the quality and artistic work (and appreciates them asthetically) of the Sideshow stuff-

And the Escape plaque, after I got it and hung it on my wall, was said to be the best looking item I"d yet got, in his opinion.

Soo...

Way to go WN! Find a safe place on the wall for it to hang and then take pix and post them! <img border=0 src="https://home.earthlink.net/~dstephan/gifs/1118.gif" />

Re: re

You know it's funny Nemo, of all the nice display and great statues I have, a friend of mine told me his favorite piece that I had was the Amalgama Pewter Balrog. =/

Re: re

Yes, the plaque is very nice! Detail is just fantasic. I was trying to think of how I can express how nice this piece is but I think TWK said it best...

:rock

Re: re

Oh I wanna add another thing to this thread-

Since I"ve not seen any faux bronze LOTR items (really only the 2 plaques, right? and just the one that has been released... so... just mine) in person besides my own Escape from the road.

And in the Gollum/Smeagol DVD from the second box set, you can see a really bronze looking paintjob...

and mine looks nothing like that. The paint job on mine is more like... a weird clayish looking dull dull dull bronze. Very flat.
And then there are bronze highlights.

I kinda like mine better that way actually. I could do with some more highlights, but unless I see a really great looking bronze coloured one in high resolution, well-focussed pictures, I don't think I'll change my mind about this escape plaque I have.

Pictures, WN! <img border=0 src="https://home.earthlink.net/~dstephan/gifs/1287.gif" />

Re: re

Great piece. I got it when it first came out. I display it on the top shelf of a book case with a light shining down. Looks awsome.

Re: re

Congratulations on the plaque!:clap I got mine a couple of weeks ago and I love it. I think this piece is a real work of art. Its like getting 5 characters in one piece, the four hobbits and the ringwraith and its such a fantastic sculpt. Enjoy!!!

Re: re

Don't worry about it falling off the wall, I've had mine hung up for more than a year and a half and it's still there. Mine is hung with two wall anchors, and two thick screws. So if you go that route you should be ok. Great plaque!!!:clap

Re: re

I really like the plaques, but Escape in particular. Can't wait for Gwaihir plaque to arrive to be a counterpoint.
