Another fan project

Here's another item, that is being made by a fan of the movies!


I found pictures of it on another board, posted by a guy going by the name Arannz.

Just posting this for inspiration to anyone thinking of picking up some tools and trying their hand at art.

I love seeing this stuff, and spreading it around. Lets go!

Hey, I know Arannz...well sorta. He lives in NZ and I think he was trying to get a job at Weta. Looks like he has some skill.

Ive seen this in a more infant stage.. Aranz has posted on this forum before.. I would buy that sculpt in a heartbeat..

Yeah, he posts on S&F. This bust is amazing!! I hope he is successful in casting it when he is done. I'll be buying one.

Hi, haven't post here in a while but couldn't resist when I saw this. It's really amazing, if someone didn't mention this was a fan project, I would have thought it was a prototype from WETA. I do have a question, is this the final product or will it be painted?

Stunning, SSW quality. Oh how much money SSW could have made out of a bust looking like this!

I'd buy one of those as well.

Now to get a Faramir bust that quality...

has anyone asked him to create a Faramir or Denethor piece? I'd be curious to see what he could do with a piece that doesn't have a statue or bust yet. I bet it would be good. :hat

Thanks for the compliments and thanks for posting the pics Nemo!

I've actually been a member here for quite a while - I just don't post much anymore!

This bust is not yet finished. It is approximately in scale with the Sideshow Weta ones, but is slightly larger than it should be compared to Aragorn, I think. I am planning on making a mold and casting it in resin once I have finished the sculpt, so that I have it in a more permanent form.

I recognized the similarity to the Wiki bust and thought you may have used that as a visual template. Very awesome work- I'm totally impressed.

I also posted your work Arannz because I wanted to repeatedly see it on this site (since I come here more than the other board) and it gave me a boost in ambition after having not touched my own work-in-progress for a few days (playing too much guitar).

Anyway.. I took a bunch of pix tonight, and here's one of them... shrunk though. It's much more rough still than the wonderful King of the Dead bust in those pictures. I still need to do the hair properly and .. blah.

That KOTD is absolutely STUNNING I am speechless.I would definately buy one if a number of them were made.
