Danbury Mint never announced how many they where making. The biggest factor for price on this was not being able to get it overseas, but that has changed. Last I heard DM where still taking orders, (2 months ago).

Nicer looking than Orthanc in my opinion.

I also think it is Very Cool JS and I am a sucker for the added electronic goodie such as the light-up eye. I personaly can't compare it with my Orthanc as to me they are like Apples and Oranges, both very cool but different...

LoL, I officially bought mine for the original price at Danbury. But right now it has been costing me about $400 already and I still need to ship it back to me. So I dont really mind that its going up in price on evilbay :)

I have just seen this in person and I'm glad I placed my order . IMO this is SSW quality . Just don't buy it on eBay , hook up with a fellow board member in the States if you have problems getting it overseas . :rock

I just ran through an order and got as far as a delivery address and I had the option of the US and Canada from the drop down menu.

I called the toll free number and ordered it. I live in the USA, the person asked for my address and VISA number and she placed the order. Suggest finding the toll free number on the web site and giving them a call. There is no reason they should stop taking orders, this is not a limited edition as far as I know and they are making good money.

For those who missed it, when you order it from DM, make sure you mention to them that you'd like them to make an Orthanc as well, now that SS/W has mentioned tis the end of the line!

Barad-Dur is approx 21mm (7/8") taller than Orthanc.

Once again, it's the flash bringing out too much color. I gotta say that I think this thing looks just great in person. Thanks for the comparison picture. I'm actually surprised by how big Orthanc is. From all the complaints about it, I was expecting it to be about half that size. I have a Barad-dur, and I think the height is just fine. Kind of makes me want an Orthanc, I just have to hope DM produces it since there's no way I'm paying the going rate for it.

Having them side-by-side the quality of Polystone Orthanc looks much better than Danbury Barad-dur. I think Barad-dur has a little too much bright color and the cheese factor with the plaque. But it is all we can get, and I think it is OK, so I want it for my Environment collection.

Yeah, I cannot afford Orthanc either. This thing only cost about $90 and people are willing to pay up to $2000! That is looney IMHO.

I've also seen the DM Barad-Dur in person and am really pleased with it. I placed an order for it a few days ago. I was debating on if I wanted to pay $106 from DM or go ahead and pay $400 on ebay....decisions...decisons....:o

In my opinion the sculpt and paintjob are equal to Sideshow Weta quality. If it would have been released by SSW, placed on a SSW base (without the "name plate"), I wonder if all of you who are complaining now would still say the same - or would you rave about another fine release?

I take it for what it is: the only available companion piece for my Orhtanc - and I admit: I paid $250 for mine on Ebay.
