View Full Version : Fellowship Pippin Petition - Revived!

Hello,

Awhile ago, I started a petition for a Pippin Statue, and I also conducted a poll of what design was preferred (with Gondorian Armor or Fellowship Clothes). The huge majority wanted Fellowship, we got Gondorian.

I have learned that Sideshow Weta did create a prototype statue for FELLOWSHIP Pippin but never mass-produced it for sale. Please sign my Petition below and mention in your comments that you would like a Fellowship Pippin made as a final gift to the fans. I will mail this petition to the CEOs of Sideshow and Weta.

I appreciate your support!

PS - Sure, it may not work, but then again it may work! A few moments of your time could move the mighty!!!

Mods Stick if you can, it is also on my Ezboard as Sticky. Check out link to LOTR Freaks board below under Sideshow.

I have a feeling we'll see a Pippin statue down the line from Weta, but it can't hurt to try for one from SSW.

I'd be curious where and from whom you heard about a fellowship Pippin being sculpted.

I've been told on very sound high authority that it's been done but it won't be seeing the light of day ... it remains at Weta.

Where I come from people can speak their mind, try to make positive changes, get some things done. Keep your negative opinion to yourself.

Glad to see the petition is growing, up to 70! :rock

<edit> I'll take the high road and drop this argument (not the petition). I think my point is that when people post topics you do not like, you are the one that should ignore it and stop ^^^^^ing about things discussed already. Go on to the next topic. This is for people who want a Fellowship Pippin. If you don't like it, the Pessimist can move one.

The petition will be sent, and it will be read. It is up to them to act on it, that is the whole point of a petition.

72 signatures and counting! Keep it going! :ted

Daveyjaro

I am sure that very same thing was said about anything, including making LOTR into a live action film. What would have happened if PJ would have bought the pessimist philosophy and given up when he started the idea? He didn't! People can make dreams come true through hard work and dedication. Do you think if every single Weta collector signed that petition, that Richard Taylor would ignore it? Would the President of SSW Mr. Anzalone ignore it? I don't think so and so do 71 other people. Every time I bump this thread 20 to 30 more people sign it! If the Mods would have the balls to make this sticky thread, then who knows how many would sign it then. I asked to have this thread made sticky and they refuse.

Thanks to all the "dreamers" who signed it so far!

Namarie!

It is people who will not give it a rest themselves. Why do you continue to respond. If you are so great, then why do you continue to post? I am very serious about this petition and if someone comes along and says "move on you dreamer" I get fighthing mad! Do you understand now!

It's worth a try because if Weta does ever decide to continue the LOTR line a little longer themselves, at least they will know that fans would like this piece (along with a Faramir, Denethor, etc.).

Even if we don't get the statue, it would be cool to at least get a picture of it. The same with the sculpted mirror that was intended to go along with Galadriel.

Daveyjaro
08-14-2005, 11:58 AM
Yes, first the hope is that they will make it. Just imagine, if 100 people sign it, who the heck knows how many did not see the petition would sign it. SSW could make a limited edition of 100 and give every petitioner an order. Something like this can be done, nothing is impossible!

Right on Revilal. :hat

No harm can come of signing a petition and if anything will at least show Weta that even after the end of the line, collectors are still interested. If Kong and Narnia products don't sell well, it's not impossible that Weta may think about resurrecting the line to create a few more pieces to fill in the gaps.

I'd be curious where and from whom you heard about a fellowship Pippin being sculpted.

On the Gollum DVD that came with the Two Towers EE. The scene where they pan the wall shelving with various mould boxes, there is one that says Pippin Figure.

I actually have never watched my Gollum DVD (though i keep meaning to...) but simply going of what was said above, couldn't that "figure" simply be the Gondorian Pippin we now own?

Not trying to piss on a parade, i signed the petition also, though i am 100% sure it won't do anything. Also, as great as it would be to have a fellowship pippin... i would MUCH rather have the missing characters first, as I am very pleased with the Pippin i own.

Jamie also mentioned that it had been done and was housed at Weta.

RoboDad3000

Well, Sideshow has been pretty consistent about only using the word 'figure' to refer to full-body statues, but I suppose that is possible.

However, L4P is 100% right that the "Pippin Figure" label on a box does not imply anything at all. By the time the Gollum DVD was produced, all of the principal filming for all three films had long since been completed, so there would have already been ample time to sculpt a Gondorian Pippin.

And for the record, I won't be signing the petition. Not because I don't support anyone else's right to do so, but simply because I already know there is absolutely no chance that it will be made, and I have no desire to get my own hopes up, even to the slightest degree.

There was a HUGE quote not too long ago from chat where Brant (I think it was) said that they DID sculpt a Fellowship Pippin but that the design team did not like the look of it so decided to go Gondorian as the armour looked better and as they said, it's from an important moment from that characters particular story.

The thing that puzzles me is if a prototype was made, presumably both versions were being considered. If so, why did they go for the version that seemed the least popular? Surely, as some people maintain, if Sideshow read the forums to gain an insight into the ideas of the collectors, why did they not make the Fellowship version?

Added to that, if they opted not to do it, a petition of 100, a 1000 or even more will not have any impact.

Good luck though. I'll add my name to it but it would be nice for some official responses as to whether a prototype was produced and, if so, why it was not the one chosen to be mass-produced instead of the anaemic one with the blue lips?

FrodoEyes
08-19-2005, 03:09 AM
As I've said, it was made but the team didn't like it for some reason so decided to go the Gondor route. And that is official as Brant said it in SDCC chat.

Wow. That means it must have been really crap if it was even worse than the one they produced in the end.

RT and others at Weta wanted to go with a Gondorian one since Pippin made his big impact on the LOTR Trilogy in ROTK.

Other than the mouth I don't see the complaints about this piece. The detail is great as usual, the likeness is pretty solid, the look on the face could toss someone off but it comes straight from something that was filmed. I would hardly say it's a piece of crap though.

Daveyjaro
08-19-2005, 09:19 PM
Yes, but if you have all the other Fellowship members, they all complement and fit in with each other. Pippin Guard of the Citadel stands out as way out of place. We need Fellowship pip! :banana
