View Full Version : Updated Hellboy Kroenen

Swapped his body with one of the Hot Toys bodies. Had to saw off Kroenen's forearms, saw off the forearms on the HT body, and then use Apoxie to meld them back together. I could have drilled the hands to fit the HT pegs... but they didn't want to come off. I think they may be glued since Kroenen didn't come with any extra hands. I didn't want to force them, also I didn't even thing of drilling the hands until someone suggested it.
I think he looks a million times better. Now I just need to wait on the leather boots I have coming for him so I can preserve the ankle articulation. Would be a shame to put the hard plastic boots back on him and loose that.

That looks great! When I get around to getting another modern Kroenen (mine got customized into my Kroenen 1938 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/metaphorge/463578691/in/set-72157594510116522/)).
I need a frickin' pallet full of Hot Toys bodies.

That looks fantastic... the issue with that figure is the Buck looks terrible with skin-tight suits. But with the new body he looks like a real person.
So there were no alterations to the costume?

Nope no alterations, it actually fits the HT body much better than the Buck body. It was always weirdly baggy on the Buck body.

Very nice, the bucks really did let this figure down. Some great poses.

Especially since the original Kroenen body was a good 1/4 or so taller. I figure'd it would bunch up some in places but I guess the added bulk made up for the loss in height.
Looks great!!! :rock :rock I always thought he looked a bit on the anorexic side with the SS body.

I don't know how you can defend the SS body... it's not good at all.

Huge improvement! Let's hope that with the HT/Sideshow team-up we won't see Buck bodies much longer.

Very nice!! Makes me want to get a Kroenen and do the same thing. That body really helps to sell that figure. Before, the Buck made him look like a sickly guy or a drag queen. :lol

Now I just wish Triad Toys' male 1.0 wetsuit had a inegral hood. I think it would look a lot better and be more film accurate.

That HT body is a much needed improvement, looks great.I can't wait to see this HT/SSC hybrid body come to light.

Got boots for Kroenen. I ordered two pairs. This pair is the $3 "In the Past Toys" boots. They are very flexible and work well with the ankle articulation on the HT body.

And here's some side by side comparisons of the boots. The In the Past boots have zippers up the back. I ended up using them for Kroenen as they're shinier and taller than the Newline boots. The Newline boots have a better shape, but the In the Past boots are more flexible and their soles are far more stable. I worry about Maul toppling sans-stand.

So I'm gearing up to start ordering parts to put together a WWII era Kroenen. The plan is to use just the mask from my modern SS Kroenen and possibly a Dragon body and some random head. Will then use the "face" mask on my modern Kroenen (and possibly mod his suit to appear the same as it does in the film when he wears the "face" mask).
Anyway I'm ordering a bunch of loose parts, going with full cloth getup for a couple of reasons. An all leather set is pretty much impossible to do, also I really dislike most pleather in 1/6. It doesn't hang right and the "water trick" doesn't work on it. So I'm kinda going more for his comic look, which was more a more traditional nazi outfit.
These are the parts I'm ordering, am I missing anything? The only think that worries me is the belt and shoulder strap as they are from a youth figure, but it's the only one I could find. I'll also have to mod the hat to fit... which I hope isn't that big a deal.

I actually already have these boots, in fact I also have a pair for my modern Kroenen which replaced the In The Past Toys boots he has in the above pics.
