Just got the HT newsletter with some killer news:

Hot Toys new MMS license - Appleseed Saga EX MACHINA - We are super excited to pre-launch a MMS product under a new license on our homepage today! A 3D CG animated movie, Appleseed Saga EX MACHINA, is going to hit the theater in Japan on 20th Oct. This movie is produced by the world-class filmmaker - JOHN WOO, and two of the costumes were designed by the famous fashion designer – MIUCCIA PRADA. Isn’t it cool? Appleseed was one hell of a movie and Shirow is one of my all time favorites. I can't wait to see this movie and the pics of the figures. :chew:chew:chew:chew
 
Oh please, oh please-
I'm guessing by the release we'll be getting Deunan in combat gear first + hopefully Briarieos, then Deunan in the Prada outfits, and knowing how ambitious HT are, I mean they gave us ED and the PL is just round the corner, maybe just maybe a Landmate-

dude if they gave us a Landmate i'd friggin crap myself. that would be the sickest thing ever! :rock
 
Every time I think HT couldn't possibly get another cool license I'm interested in they get one. I'm not as big a fan of Appleseed as I am Ghost in the Shell, but I know these figures will be awesome.
Definitely getting Deunan and Briareos, if they make Landmates I'll just die.

Though I signed up for the newsletter I didn't receive it, can someone PM me the Newsletter address so I can save it to my trusted email addresses.
 
I just re-watched Appleseed last night and it looks to me that the Landmates are not much bigger than the Aliens Power Loader. I think, based on the fact that they've done the power loader, ED-209 and say they are going to do Cain, it is not out of the question to think HT will do a Landmate. The tricky part will be designing it so a figure will fit inside.

I would also love to see Ghost in Shell SAC figures. How cool would a 1/6 Tachikoma be?

A 1:6 Hot Toys Tachikoma would be awesome, though I imagine it would be a bi-tch to sit a figure inside.
However, I doubt Hot Toys will go after Ghost in Shell SAC, since Takara already made an exquisite 1:6 Major Kusanagi GITS SAC figure. It would be hard for HT to top that one!
Still, there's plenty of different figures that can be done from the series and films that I would love to own Batou, and Togusa.
 
The only problem with the Takara Kusanagi is that it is hard to find and insanely expensive. While I don't have a problem paying $120 for a Hot Toys fig, I do have some difficulty paying $150-200 for a Cy Girl.

Not only that, but there is a lot more in the GITS SAC line that can be done, namely the rest of the team. I also don't see anybody but HT willing to tackle something like the Tachikoma in 1/6.

Just my thoughts and what I'd like to see.

Sorry to hear that you missed out, but the secret to getting these cheap is to order early. I only paid about $110 shipped for mine.
You can currently get the Triad Toys Kusanagi outfit "Major K" for about $35, unfortunately all you would need then is an appropriate head and body. Still, much cheaper then paying $200 for one.

$110 is still a bit steep for a Cy Girl for me. I like the Kusanagi figure, but I don't think I like it that much. I have been eyeing the Triad Major K outfit for a while, though. I have a head from one of the cheaper, older Kusanagi figures that I would use, but I keep holding out for the Triad EVA body... I know, it is a long shot. I'll probably bite the bullet and order the Major K outfit anyway.
 
Someone posted a pic of the Deunan and Briareos Hot Toys protos. I will try to remember where I saw it and post here.

As for HT figures, for most of them it's best to pre-order them early as opposed to waiting until later. They usually stay the same or go up in price. Rarely do they go down in price.
