Working on a sketch... not sure where it's going or why she's hanging tangled up in some rigging. It's going to be Berry Much (a finished drawing of Berry below)... assuming I don't ditch it and start over as I have no idea how to justify her hanging suspended like that and have it make any sense.
http://dedguy.net/images/art/2007/berry-sketch.jpg
Old finished illustration of Berry.

Ditched that sketch... it's just too weird for a t-shirt and requires way too much background to make it make sense or be logical. Am going with what I originally had though... a sort of Spy novel cover look.
Not sure exactly where Steve is going to be (which probably isn't a good thing should have sketched out the whole composition first).

So this is what I'm thinking. Not sure if I'd actually put it in a rectangle on the shirt to further emulate a book cover/movie poster... but I'm liking this layout and I like the idea of a fake movie/book a lot.

I have a friend who used to be quiet an artist/designer and since he fell into programming several years ago has lost quiet a bit in the way of artistic skills to programming knowledge. It's interesting because when I met him I drew like this (http://dedguy.net/images/art/2001/deadvampire.jpg) and he was a much better artist than I was. It's odd how interests and skills shift.
Anyway he's still a fair sculptor despite his loss of illustration skills and he wanted me to design some Shisa Dogs for him to sculpt for Christmas presents. He wanted something simple and a bit cartoony.

Thanks, nice frog. Good use of primary shapes.
So I did this mostly for me, for my work computer's second screen. Also I'm trying to sort out a style I like that I can move forward with on some stories. Using a all straight line vector style with some light use of gradients and some texturing. Some of it I drew freehand with the pencil tool and the applied a simplify to it to get more angular geometric shapes.
It's also meant to be a companion piece to the TIM on the rooftop piece (http://dedguy.net/images/art/2007/tim-rooftop5.png) I started like last year and never finished. I want to re-do it completely in this style.

So now I have both the Spectral and Physical Raziel. I'm actually kinda glad as I dig the Spectral version and am glad to have the pulled down cowl.
These are great figures. I know someone on here (although I forget who) was complaining about sloppy gloopy paint work among other things on these figures. I don't see anything like that at all, the paint is very good, on par with the NECA TMNT stuff. Very clean and consistent colors with some nice subtle washing and airbrushing.
The articulation is the only disappointment. I was hoping for as good as the TMNT figs and this is not the case. The articulation above the waist is all pretty great. All the joints have good range of movement and work well. Below the waist is a different story. The ball jointed hips are really weird. The pin that attaches the ball to the hip is at about a 45º angel to the spine instead of a more normal 90º. This makes posing the legs in any pose other than just standing a real pain in the ass since the legs don't move in any sort of predictable fashion. It's hard to explain but really annoying. This is compounded by the almost complete lack of ankle movement. I would have been happy with at least some significant forward and backward movement on the ankle but there's only very fractional movement.
Overall though it's a great figure, much better than the BBI figure (which for it's time was pretty amazing). It's more detailed, imo more game accurate (in sculpt anyway), has better paint work (although arguably not completely game accurate), and better articulation. It also has a much stronger silhouette as illustrated below. It may sound strange to say, but to me, the overall shape of the figure is very important and the BBI figure has a very odd silhouette with weird proportions and muscle shapes.
I'm mostly posting the giant pics, if you guys would prefer smaller pics let me know. These pics work well for me on my monitor but not everyone has the same screen real estate.

It's pretty simple, just a big carboard box with the sides and top cut out, tissue paper taped into the openings and a piece of very large drawing paper taped up inside it curving out of it.

Hey Dedguy... I love you're work. The figure posing and photos look great! I love how dynamic, yet natural the poses are of you're figures.
Anyway, you're illustrations and Illustrator computer work is nothing short of beautiful, honestly it's not in my style tastes, but I respect it on it's merit of creativity and style! I'm trying to teach myself how to use illustrator and photoshop to aid my own illustration. Do you have and tips on books to get or demo videos? I work full time and have to teach myself stuff at home.

I actually pretty much learned it myself by trial and error. There was a Adi Granov tutorial on how to color pencil artwork I read back in 2002 that really helped me (I can't find it now) but that's about it. I tend to be more interested in books on design theory and drawing technique.
