Here are my views and thoughts on the new HT Alien-

http://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_082007b.htm

It really is a sweet figure, and the completeist in me now wants to get hold of the brown version.

Mike also has a cool review up for the SST Asajj Ventress.

Great review!
Good lead in to requesting the original Alien too.
Nice nod to the sculptor too. Nice to know his name at last.

Great stuff Jeff!

Great guest reviews... although I think this is the first time I didn't have to go out and buy something because of you. I for once already had it :lol

Feel free to add the Connor Highlander figures into your future reviews... that way if Michael is slacking off we can still get a fix :lol

Yea, but he won't have the special exclusive one handed version!

It's a very good review, but I do have to disagree with the accuracy bit, this alien is as inaccurate as can be while still being an alien from Aliens.
Paint apps also seem a bit weak IMHO, but it is a great figure.

Well....OK, I won't start that all over again.... :D
But, it is a good review.

Well I have to say it looks reasonably accurate to me. I think a little artistic licence is always permitted in a figure like this one. It's the pay off between articulation and being as faithful as you can to the source material. The only place they seem to have played around a bit is the neck and a little on the head, but again you can see that the sculptor has studied the original and interpreted the best way he could to work with the mechanics of what’s going on with the base figure.

But I've waited a long time for an articulated and accurate Alien, and the two Hot Toys have given us so far, are definitely my favourites!

Without opening a can of worms, I have to agree with Les and abake; great review of the figure, but after seeing a good deal of reference images, it's clear that from the head down, there was a good deal of creative license taken, but the overall design is reflective of the Giger concept, and regardless of accurracies, it's still one of the most badass figures ever!

Talking about the Giger concept... have you guys taken a closer look at the tip of the back tubes and at the back of the head on the HT warrior?
It's... uhm... quite sexual.

I think you're starting to like your Warrior Alien a little TOO much. :D

Of course, Albrecht! The back of the head was designed by Giger.
I would say, "NUFF SAID", but in this case...in your defense...
It's a very thinly veiled **** (especially on the original ALIEN). :lol Ya know....so....there.
Giger is an odd bird.

Not sure about the tubes...:D

abake

Uhm... yeah, the head is a ****, but the back of the head and the tips of the tubes look much more feminine... I'm sure Giger did not sculpt a ****** into the back of the head and I'm almost positive neither did Winston... and I don't recall seeing that in the tubes either...
The inner workings of the facehuggers are another thing completely... and to think a **** springs out of them too...

Too many dicks and ******s in my post!:rotfl

If pornography has taught us anything there can never be too much of those... (wonder if this is an infractable post :monkey1)

But, yeah... I hadn't noticed the back tubes before... I guess thats a benefit of an overseas company making these, less chance of little details getting scrapped.

Well, I'm a big fan of Gigers work... wouldn't necessarily want it hanging in my front room, but from a creative and technical angle his work is amazingly original. But that said, he is a bit of a sick puppy and you'll pretty much find at least one sexual organ represented in all his work, just take a look-

Sorry but I just have to ask. Do the arms swival @ the elbows on the HT Aliens fig? Or do they just have the standard bend up & down position. Novice alert, thanks. :o

I hope that when the Alien is done that it is accurate to the source and not made more organic like this one.

Too much of the cool 'rubber hoses' are missing.

I just recieved the Aliens figure. Another dumb question. I am having trouble w/the 2nd tongue/jaw thingy. Can it stay in place with the switch on the bottom of the head?

The reason I am asking is because some of these great pics I've been seeing have the figure w/the extended jaw. Thank you..:o

You have to really push it deep into his head, but be slow and gentle and you'll feel it slip into it's locking position.

The "inner jaw" feature on this Alien isn't as smooth in it's operation as the AvP version , you really have to push it forward before it clicks into place .

I was a little too late on the original release and will have to settle for the repainted release. As I understand it, Winston's critters were finished in shades of blue. If I wanted to repaint the upcoming repainted version to more closely resemble the warriors on the film set, does it actually seem do-able or are there too many unreachable nooks and crannies on this figure? Any input from owners will be greatly appreciated.

I shouldn't imagine it would be too difficult as long as you use an airbrush and keep the paint coats nice and thin . Obviously, stick with good quality acrylics .

The original is still available at a few stores. Monkey Depot still has him available:
